1 Nowe at that time the Philistims assembled their bandes and armie to fight with Israel: therfore Achish said to Dauid, Be sure, thou shalt go out with me to the battel, thou, and thy men.
1 Algum tempo depois os filisteus reuniram as suas tropas para lutar contra Israel. Então Aquis disse a Davi: — Fique sabendo que você e os seus homens vão lutar ao meu lado.
2 And Dauid said to Achish, Surely thou shalt knowe, what thy seruant can doe. And Achish sayde to Dauid, Surely I will make thee keeper of mine head for euer.
2 — Claro que sim! — respondeu Davi. — Estou aqui para ajudar; você vai ver o que eu sou capaz de fazer. — Está bem! — disse Aquis. — Você vai ser o meu guarda pessoal por toda a vida.
3 (Samuel was then dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah his owne citie: and Saul had put away the sorcerers, and the soothsayers out of the land)
3 Samuel havia morrido, e todos os israelitas haviam chorado a morte dele e o haviam sepultado na cidade de Ramá, onde ele tinha nascido. Saul tinha expulsado de Israel todos os médiuns e adivinhos.
4 Then the Philistims assembled themselues, and came, and pitched in Shunem: and Saul assembled all Israel, and they pitched in Gilboa.
4 Os soldados filisteus se reuniram e acamparam perto da cidade de Suném. Saul reuniu os israelitas e acampou no monte Gilboa.
5 And when Saul saw the hoste of the Philistims, he was afraid, and his heart was sore astonied.
5 Quando Saul viu o exército dos filisteus, ficou apavorado
6 Therefore Saul asked counsel of the Lord, and the Lord answered him not, neither by dreames, nor by Vrim, nor yet by Prophets.
6 e perguntou a Deus, o Senhor , o que devia fazer. Mas o Senhor não respondeu nem por sonhos, nem pelo Urim , nem através dos profetas .
7 Then saide Saul vnto his seruants, Seeke me a woman that hath a familiar spirite, that I may goe to her, and aske of her. And his seruants said to him, Beholde, there is a woman at En-dor that hath a familiar spirit.
7 Então Saul ordenou aos seus oficiais: — Procurem uma mulher que seja médium, e eu irei consultá-la. — Em Endor há uma médium! — responderam eles.
8 Then Saul changed him selfe, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he saide, I pray thee, coniecture vnto me by the familiar spirite, and bring me him vp whome I shall name vnto thee.
8 Então Saul se disfarçou, vestindo roupas diferentes. E, quando escureceu, foi com dois dos seus homens falar com a tal mulher. Ele disse: — Consulte para mim os espíritos e me diga o que vai acontecer. Eu vou dizer o nome de um homem, e você vai mandar subir o espírito dele.
9 And the woman saide vnto him, Beholde, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath destroyed the sorcerers, and the southsayers out of the land: wherefore then seekest thou to take me in a snare to cause me to die?
9 A mulher respondeu: — Com certeza você sabe o que o rei Saul fez: ele expulsou de Israel os adivinhos e os médiuns. Então por que é que você está tentando me pegar numa armadilha para que eu seja morta?
10 And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liueth, no harme shall come to thee for this thing.
10 Aí Saul jurou em nome de Deus, o Senhor : — Pelo
11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring vp vnto thee? And he answered, Bring me vp Samuel.
11 Então a mulher perguntou: — Quem é que você quer que eu faça subir? — Samuel! — respondeu ele.
12 And when the woman sawe Samuel, she cryed with a loude voyce, and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceiued me? for thou art Saul.
12 Quando a mulher viu Samuel, deu um grito e disse a Saul: — Por que o senhor me enganou? O senhor é o rei Saul!
13 And the King said vnto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said vnto Saul, I saw gods ascending vp out of the earth.
13 — Não tenha medo! — respondeu o rei. — O que é que você está vendo? — Estou vendo um espírito subindo da terra! — disse ela.
14 Then he said vnto her, What facion is hee of? And she answered, An olde man commeth vp lapped in a mantel: and Saul knewe that it was Samuel, and he enclined his face to the grounde, and bowed him selfe.
14 — Como é o jeito dele? — perguntou Saul. — É um velho que está subindo! — respondeu ela. — Ele está todo enrolado numa Aí Saul entendeu que era Samuel: ajoelhou-se e encostou o rosto no chão, em sinal de respeito.
15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me vp? Then Saul answered, I am in great distresse: for the Philistims make warre against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by Prophetes, neither by dreames: therefore I haue called thee, that thou mayest tell me, what I shall doe.
15 Então Samuel disse a Saul: — Por que é que você foi me incomodar? Por que me fez voltar? Saul respondeu: — É que estou numa grande dificuldade! Os filisteus estão em guerra contra mim, e Deus me abandonou. Ele não me responde mais nem por profetas nem por meio de sonhos. Foi por isso que chamei o senhor para me dizer o que devo fazer.
16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then doest thou aske of me, seeing the Lord is gone from thee, and is thine enemie?
16 Samuel disse: — Por que é que você me chamou, agora que o
17 Euen the Lord hath done to him, as hee spake by mine hande: for the Lord will rent the kingdome out of thine hande, and giue it thy neighbour Dauid.
17 O Senhor fez com você o que ele, por meio de mim, prometeu que ia fazer: ele tirou o reino de você e o deu a outra pessoa, isto é, a Davi.
18 Because thou obeyedst not the voyce of the Lord, nor executedst his fierce wrath vpon the Amalekites, therefore hath the Lord done this vnto thee this day.
18 Você desobedeceu às ordens do Senhor e não destruiu completamente os amalequitas e tudo o que eles tinham. É por isso que o Senhor está fazendo isso com você agora.
19 Moreouer the Lord wil deliuer Israel with thee into the handes of the Philistims: and to morowe shalt thou and thy sonnes be with me, and the Lord shall giue the hoste of Israel into the handes of the Philistims.
19 Ele vai entregar você e o povo de Israel aos filisteus. Amanhã você e os seus filhos vão estar junto comigo. E o Senhor também vai entregar o exército de Israel aos filisteus.
20 Then Saul fell streight way all along on the earth, and was sore afraide because of the wordes of Samuel, so that there was no strength in him: for he had eaten no bread all the day nor all the night.
20 No mesmo instante Saul caiu no chão, de comprido, apavorado com o que Samuel tinha dito. Ele estava fraco porque não tinha comido nada todo aquele dia e toda aquela noite.
21 Then the woman came vnto Saul, and sawe that he was sore troubled, and said vnto him, See, thine handmaide hath obeyed thy voyce, and I haue put my soule in mine hande, and haue obeyed thy wordes which thou saydest vnto me.
21 A mulher chegou perto dele e, vendo que ele estava apavorado, disse: — Eu arrisquei a minha vida fazendo o que o senhor me pediu.
22 Now therefore, I pray thee, hearke thou also vnto ye voyce of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsell of bread before thee, that thou mayest eat and get thee strength, and go on thy iourney.
22 Agora, por favor, faça o que estou pedindo: deixe que eu lhe traga um pouco de comida. Coma alguma coisa para ficar forte e poder viajar.
23 But he refused, and said, I will not eate: but his seruants and the woman together compelled him, and he obeyed their voyce: so he arose from the earth, and sate on the bed.
23 Saul recusou e disse que não ia comer nada. Mas os seus oficiais também insistiram para que comesse. Finalmente ele concordou. Levantou-se do chão e sentou-se na cama.
24 Nowe the woman had a fat calfe in the house, and she hasted, and killed it, and tooke floure and kneaded it, and baked of it vnleauened bread.
24 Então a mulher matou depressa um bezerro que estava sendo engordado. Pegou também um pouco de farinha de trigo, amassou e assou alguns pães sem fermento .
25 Then she brought them before Saul, and before his seruants: and when they had eaten, they stoode, and went away the same night.
25 Aí colocou a comida diante de Saul e dos seus oficiais, e eles comeram. E naquela mesma noite foram embora.
