1 Then Samuel tooke a viole of oyle and powred it vpon his head, and kissed him, and saide, Hath not the Lord anointed thee to be gouernour ouer his inheritance?
1 Samuel tinha levado consigo um frasco de azeite. Ele derramou o azeite na cabeça de Saul, beijou-o e disse: — O
2 When thou shalt depart from me this day, thou shalt finde two men by Rahels sepulchre in the border of Beniamin, euen at Zelzah, and they will say vnto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seeke, are founde: and lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and soroweth for you, saying, What shall I doe for my sonne?
2 Hoje, quando você for embora, encontrará dois homens perto do túmulo de Raquel, em Zelza, no território da tribo de Benjamim. Eles vão contar a você que já foram achadas as jumentas que estavam perdidas. Contarão também que agora o seu pai não está mais preocupado com elas e sim com você; e que ele está dizendo: “Que posso fazer para encontrar meu filho?”
3 Then shalt thou go forth from thence and shalt come to the plaine of Tabor, and there shall meete thee three men going vp to God to Bethel: one carying three kiddes, and an other carying three loaues of bread, and another carying a bottle of wine:
3 — Você deve seguir até chegar à árvore sagrada que fica em Tabor. Ali você vai encontrar três homens que estarão indo a Betel, para lá oferecerem sacrifício a Deus. Um deles estará carregando três cabritos; o outro, três pães; e o terceiro, um odre de vinho.
4 And they will aske thee if all be well, and will giue thee the two loaues of bread, which thou shalt receiue of their handes.
4 Eles vão cumprimentar você e vão lhe oferecer dois pães. E você deve aceitar.
5 After that shalt thou come to the hill of God, where is the garisons of the Philistims: and when thou art come thither to the citie, thou shalt meete a companie of Prophets comming downe from the hie place with a viole, and a tymbrell, and a pipe, and an harpe before them, and they shall prophecie.
5 Em seguida você irá para o monte de Deus, em Gibeá, onde há um acampamento dos filisteus. Na entrada da cidade vai encontrar um grupo de profetas descendo o morro, vindos do altar. Eles estarão tocando harpas , tambores, flautas e liras . E estarão profetizando .
6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come vpon thee, and thou shalt prophecie with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
6 Então o Espírito do Senhor dominará você, e você vai agir como um profeta junto com eles e ficará uma pessoa diferente.
7 Therefore when these signes shall come vnto to thee, doe as occasion shall serue: for God is with thee.
7 Quando isso acontecer, faça tudo o que tiver de fazer, pois Deus estará com você.
8 And thou shalt goe downe before me to Gilgal: and I also will come downe vnto thee to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace. Tary for me seuen dayes, till I come to thee and shewe thee what thou shalt doe.
8 Vá na minha frente para Gilgal. Eu me encontrarei com você lá e oferecerei sacrifícios que serão completamente queimados e ofertas de paz. Espere lá sete dias até que eu chegue e diga o que você deve fazer.
9 And when he had turned his backe to goe from Samuel, God gaue him another heart: and all those tokens came to passe that same day.
9 Deus mudou o coração de Saul no momento em que ele se despediu de Samuel. E naquele dia aconteceu tudo o que Samuel tinha dito.
10 And when they came thither to the hill, beholde, the companie of Prophets meete him, and the Spirit of God came vpon him, and he prophecied among them.
10 Quando Saul e o seu empregado chegaram a Gibeá, um grupo de profetas o encontrou. O Espírito de Deus tomou conta de Saul, e ele se juntou a eles, agindo como um profeta.
11 Therefore all the people that knewe him before, when they saw that he prophecied among the Prophets, saide eche to other, What is come vnto the sonne of Kish? is Saul also among the Prophets?
11 Algumas pessoas que o conheciam viram isso e perguntavam: — O que aconteceu com o filho de Quis? Será que Saul virou profeta?
12 And one of the same place answered, and said, But who is their father? Therefore it was a prouerbe, Is Saul also among the Prophets?
12 Um homem que morava ali perguntou: — E os outros? Será que os pais deles são profetas? Foi assim que surgiu o seguinte ditado: “Será que Saul também virou profeta?”
13 And when he had made an ende of prophecying, he came to the hie place.
13 Quando Saul acabou de profetizar, foi para o altar, no monte.
14 And Sauls vncle saide vnto him, and to his seruant, Whither went ye? And he saide, To seeke the asses: and when we sawe that they were no where, we came to Samuel.
14 O tio de Saul perguntou a ele e ao seu empregado: — Onde foi que vocês estiveram? — Estávamos procurando as jumentas! — respondeu Saul. — E, como não as encontramos, fomos falar com Samuel.
15 And Sauls vncle saide, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said vnto you.
15 — E o que foi que ele disse? — perguntou o tio.
16 Then Saul saide to his vncle, He tolde vs plainely that the asses were founde: but concerning the kingdome whereof Samuel spake, tolde he him not.
16 — Ele nos disse que os animais já haviam sido encontrados! — respondeu Saul. Porém não contou ao tio o que Samuel tinha dito a respeito de ele se tornar rei.
17 And Samuel assembled the people vnto the Lord in Mizpeh,
17 Samuel chamou todo o povo para uma reunião religiosa em Mispa
18 And he saide vnto the children of Israel, Thus saith ye Lord God of Israel, I haue brought Israel out of Egypt, and deliuered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the handes of all kingdomes that troubled you.
18 e disse: — O
19 But ye haue this day cast away your God, who onely deliuereth you out of all your aduersities and tribulations: and ye said vnto him, No, but appoint a King ouer vs. Nowe therefore stand ye before the Lord according to your tribes, and according to your thousands.
19 Eu sou o Deus de vocês, o único que os livra de todos os seus problemas e dificuldades, mas hoje vocês me rejeitaram e pediram que eu lhes desse um rei. Muito bem, então reúnam-se na minha presença, separados por tribos e por grupos de famílias.”
20 And when Samuel had gathered together all the tribes of Israel, the tribe of Beniamin was taken.
20 Samuel mandou que todas as tribos viessem para perto dele, e o sorteio indicou a tribo de Benjamim.
21 Afterwarde he assembled the tribe of Beniamin according to their families, and the familie of Matri was taken. So Saul the sonne of Kish was taken, and when they sought him, he coulde not be found.
21 Então Samuel mandou que as famílias da tribo de Benjamim avançassem, e a família de Matri foi indicada. Aí os homens da família de Matri avançaram, e Saul, filho de Quis, foi indicado. Eles o procuraram, porém não puderam achá-lo.
22 Therefore they asked the Lord againe, if that man should yet come thither. And the Lord answered, Beholde, he hath hid himselfe among the stuffe.
22 Então perguntaram a Deus, o Senhor : — Ainda há mais alguém? — Há, e ele está escondido no meio da bagagem! — respondeu o
23 And they ranne, and brought him thence: and when he stoode among the people, he was hier then any of the people from the shoulders vpwarde.
23 Então eles correram e trouxeram Saul. E ele era o mais alto de todos, aparecendo dos ombros para cima no meio do povo.
24 And Samuel saide to all the people, See ye not him, whom the Lord hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? and all the people shouted and saide, God saue the King.
24 Samuel disse ao povo: — Aqui está o homem que o E todo o povo gritou: — Viva o rei!
25 Then Samuel tolde the people the duetie of the kingdome, and wrote it in a booke, and laied it vp before the Lord, and Samuel sent all the people away euery man to his house.
25 Samuel explicou ao povo os direitos e deveres de um rei e os escreveu num livro, que foi colocado na presença de Deus, o Senhor . Aí mandou todos para casa.
26 Saul also went home to Gibeah, and there followed him a bande of men, whose heart God had touched,
26 Saul também voltou para a sua casa em Gibeá. Alguns homens corajosos, que no seu coração sentiram a orientação de Deus, foram com Saul.
27 But the wicked men saide, Howe shall hee saue vs? So they despised him, and brought him no presents: but he held his tongue.
27 Mas algumas pessoas de mau caráter disseram: — Como é que este homem vai poder nos salvar? E desprezaram Saul e não lhe deram presentes.
