1 Then the dayes of Dauid drewe neere that he should die, and hee charged Salomon his sonne, saying,
1 Aproximando-se os dias da morte de Davi, deu ele ordens a Salomão, seu filho, dizendo:
2 I go the way of all the earth: be strong therefore, and shew thy selfe a man,
2 Eu vou pelo caminho de todos os mortais. Coragem, pois, e sê homem!
3 And take heede to the charge of the Lord thy God, to walke in his wayes, and keepe his statutes, and his commandements, and his iudgements, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and in euery thing whereunto thou turnest thee,
3 Guarda os preceitos do Senhor , teu Deus, para andares nos seus caminhos, para guardares os seus estatutos, e os seus mandamentos, e os seus juízos, e os seus testemunhos, como está escrito na Lei de Moisés, para que prosperes em tudo quanto fizeres e por onde quer que fores;
4 That the Lord may confirme his worde which hee spake vnto me, saying, If thy sonnes take heede to their way, that they walke before me in trueth, with all their hearts, and with all their soules, thou shalt not (sayd he) want one of thy posteritie vpon the throne of Israel.
4 para que o Senhor confirme a palavra que falou de mim, dizendo: Se teus filhos guardarem o seu caminho, para andarem perante a minha face fielmente, de todo o seu coração e de toda a sua alma, nunca te faltará sucessor ao trono de Israel.
5 Thou knowest also what Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captaines of the hostes of Israel, vnto Abner the sonne of Ner, and vnto Amasa the sonne of Iether: whome he slewe, and shed blood of battell in peace, and put the blood of warre vpon his girdle that was about his loynes, and in his shooes that were on his feete.
5 Também tu sabes o que me fez Joabe, filho de Zeruia, e o que fez aos dois comandantes do exército de Israel, a Abner, filho de Ner, e a Amasa, filho de Jéter, os quais matou, e, em tempo de paz, vingou o sangue derramado em guerra, manchando com ele o cinto que trazia nos lombos e as sandálias nos pés.
6 Doe therefore according to thy wisdome, and let thou not his hoare head go downe to the graue in peace.
6 Faze, pois, segundo a tua sabedoria e não permitas que suas cãs desçam à sepultura em paz.
7 But shew kindnes vnto the sonnes of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among them that eate at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom thy brother.
7 Porém, com os filhos de Barzilai, o gileadita, usarás de benevolência, e estarão entre os que comem à tua mesa, porque assim se houveram comigo, quando eu fugia por causa de teu irmão Absalão.
8 And beholde, with thee is Shimei the sonne of Gera, the sonne of Iemini, of Bahurim, which cursed mee with an horrible curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but hee came downe to meete me at Iorden, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not slay thee with the sword.
8 Eis que também contigo está Simei, filho de Gera, filho de Benjamim, de Baurim, que me maldisse com dura maldição, no dia em que ia a Maanaim; porém ele saiu a encontrar-se comigo junto ao Jordão, e eu, pelo Senhor , lhe jurei, dizendo que o não mataria à espada.
9 But thou shalt not count him innocent: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to doe vnto him: therefore thou shalt cause his hoare head to goe downe to the graue with blood.
9 Mas, agora, não o tenhas por inculpável, pois és homem prudente e bem saberás o que lhe hás de fazer para que as suas cãs desçam à sepultura com sangue.
10 So Dauid slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid.
10 Davi descansou com seus pais e foi sepultado na Cidade de Davi.
11 And the dayes which Dauid reigned vpon Israel, were fourtie yeeres: seuen yeeres reigned he in Hebron, and thirtie and three yeeres reigned he in Ierusalem.
11 Foi o tempo que Davi reinou sobre Israel quarenta anos: sete anos em Hebrom e em Jerusalém trinta e três.
12 Then sate Salomon vpon the throne of Dauid his father, and his kingdome was stablished mightily.
12 Salomão assentou-se no trono de Davi, seu pai, e o seu reino se fortificou sobremaneira.
13 And Adonijah the sonne of Haggith came to Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon: and she saide, Commest thou peaceably? And hee said, Yea.
13 Então, veio Adonias, filho de Hagite, a Bate-Seba, mãe de Salomão; disse ela: É de paz a tua vinda? Respondeu ele: É de paz.
14 He said moreouer, I haue a sute vnto thee. And she sayd, Say on.
14 E acrescentou: Uma palavra tenho que dizer-te. Ela disse: Fala.
15 Then he said, Thou knowest that the kingdome was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reigne: howbeit the kingdome is turned away, and is my brothers: for it came to him by the Lord.
15 Disse, pois, ele: Bem sabes que o reino era meu, e todo o Israel esperava que eu reinasse, ainda que o reino se transferiu e veio a ser de meu irmão, porque do Senhor ele o recebeu.
16 Nowe therefore I aske thee one request, refuse me not. And she said vnto him, Say on.
16 Agora, um só pedido te faço; não mo rejeites. Ela lhe disse: Fala.
17 And he sayd, Speake, I pray thee, vnto Salomon ye King, (for he will not say thee nay) that he giue me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.
17 Ele disse: Peço-te que fales ao rei Salomão (pois não to recusará) que me dê por mulher a Abisague, sunamita.
18 And Bath-sheba sayd, Well, I will speake for thee vnto the King.
18 Respondeu Bate-Seba: Bem, eu falarei por ti ao rei.
19 Bath-sheba therefore went vnto King Salomon, to speake vnto him for Adonijah: and the King rose to meete her, and bowed himselfe vnto her, and sate downe on his throne: and he caused a seate to be set for the Kings mother, and she sate at his right hand.
19 Foi, pois, Bate-Seba ter com o rei Salomão, para falar-lhe por Adonias. O rei se levantou a encontrar-se com ela e se inclinou diante dela; então, se assentou no seu trono e mandou pôr uma cadeira para sua mãe, e ela se assentou à sua mão direita.
20 Then she sayd, I desire a small request of thee, say me not nay. Then the King sayde vnto her, Aske on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.
20 Então, disse ela: Só um pequeno pedido te faço; não mo rejeites. E o rei lhe disse: Pede, minha mãe, porque to não recusarei.
21 She sayd then, Let Abishag the Shunammite be giuen to Adonijah thy brother to wife.
21 Disse ela: Dê-se Abisague, a sunamita, a Adonias, teu irmão, por mulher.
22 But King Salomon answered and sayd vnto his mother, And why doest thou aske Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? aske for him the kingdome also: for he is mine elder brother, and hath for him both Abiathar the Priest, and Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah.
22 Então, respondeu o rei Salomão e disse a sua mãe: Por que pedes Abisague, a sunamita, para Adonias? Pede também para ele o reino (porque é meu irmão maior), para ele, digo, e também para Abiatar, o sacerdote, e para Joabe, filho de Zeruia.
23 Then King Salomon sware by the Lord, saying, God doe so to me and more also, if Adoniiah hath not spoken this worde against his owne life.
23 E jurou o rei Salomão pelo Senhor , dizendo: Deus me faça o que lhe aprouver, se não falou Adonias esta palavra contra a sua vida.
24 Now therefore as ye Lord liueth, who hath established me, and set me on the throne of Dauid my father, who also hath made me an house, as he promised, Adoniiah shall surely die this day.
24 Agora, pois, tão certo como vive o Senhor , que me estabeleceu e me fez assentar no trono de Davi, meu pai, e me edificou casa, como tinha dito, hoje, morrerá Adonias.
25 And King Salomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and hee smote him that he dyed.
25 Enviou o rei Salomão a Benaia, filho de Joiada, o qual arremeteu contra ele, de sorte que morreu.
26 Then the King sayd vnto Abiathar the Priest, Go to Anathoth vnto thine owne fieldes: for thou art worthy of death: but I will not this day kill thee, because thou barest the Arke of the Lord God before Dauid my father, and because thou hast suffered in all, wherein my father hath bene afflicted.
26 E a Abiatar, o sacerdote, disse o rei: Vai para Anatote, para teus campos, porque és homem digno de morte; porém não te matarei hoje, porquanto levaste a arca do Senhor Deus diante de Davi, meu pai, e porque te afligiste com todas as aflições de meu pai.
27 So Salomon cast out Abiathar from being Priest vnto the Lord, that he might fulfill the wordes of the Lord, which he spake against the house of Eli in Shiloh.
27 Expulsou, pois, Salomão a Abiatar, para que não mais fosse sacerdote do Senhor , cumprindo, assim, a palavra que o Senhor dissera sobre a casa de Eli, em Siló.
28 Then tidings came to Ioab: (for Ioab had turned after Adoniiah, but he turned not after Absalom) and Ioab fled vnto the Tabernacle of the Lord, and caught hold on the hornes of the altar.
28 Chegando esta notícia a Joabe (porque Joabe se tinha desviado seguindo a Adonias, ainda que se não desviara seguindo a Absalão), fugiu ele para o tabernáculo do Senhor e pegou nas pontas do altar.
29 And it was tolde king Salomon, that Ioab was fled vnto the Tabernacle of the Lord, and beholde, he is by the altar. Then Salomon sent Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, saying, Goe, fall vpon him.
29 Foi dito ao rei Salomão que Joabe havia fugido para o tabernáculo do Senhor ; e eis que está junto ao altar. Enviou, pois, Salomão a Benaia, filho de Joiada, dizendo: Vai, arremete contra ele.
30 And Benaiah came to the Tabernacle of the Lord, and sayd vnto him, Thus sayth the King, Come out. And he sayde, Nay, but I will die here. Then Benaiah brought the King worde againe, saying, Thus sayd Ioab, and thus he answered me.
30 Foi Benaia ao tabernáculo do Senhor e disse a Joabe: Assim diz o rei: Sai daí. Ele respondeu: Não, morrerei aqui. Benaia tornou com a resposta ao rei, dizendo: Assim falou Joabe e assim me respondeu.
31 And the King sayde vnto him, Doe as he hath sayd, and smite him, and bury him, that thou mayest take away the blood, which Ioab shed causelesse, from me and from the house of my father.
31 Disse-lhe o rei: Faze como ele te disse; arremete contra ele e sepulta-o, para que tires de mim e da casa de meu pai a culpa do sangue que Joabe sem causa derramou.
32 And the Lord shall bring his blood vpon his owne head: for he smote two men more righteous and better then he, and slew them with the sword, and my father Dauid knew not: to wit, Abner the sonne of Ner, captaine of the hoste of Israel, and Amasa the sonne of Iether captaine of the hoste of Iudah.
32 Assim, o Senhor fará recair a culpa de sangue de Joabe sobre a sua cabeça, porque arremeteu contra dois homens mais justos e melhores do que ele e os matou à espada, sem que Davi, meu pai, o soubesse; isto é: a Abner, filho de Ner, comandante do exército de Israel, e a Amasa, filho de Jéter, comandante do exército de Judá.
33 Their blood shall therefore returne vpon the head of Ioab, and on the head of his seede for euer: but vpon Dauid, and vpon his seede, and vpon his house, and vpon his throne shall there be peace for euer from the Lord.
33 Assim, recairá o sangue destes sobre a cabeça de Joabe e sobre a cabeça da sua descendência para sempre; mas a Davi, e à sua descendência, e à sua casa, e ao seu trono, dará o Senhor paz para todo o sempre.
34 So Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada went vp, and smote him, and slewe him, and he was buryed in his owne house in the wildernesse.
34 Subiu Benaia, filho de Joiada, arremeteu contra ele e o matou; e foi sepultado em sua casa, no deserto.
35 And the King put Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada in his roume ouer the hoste: and the King set Zadok the Priest in the roume of Abiathar.
35 Em lugar de Joabe constituiu o rei por comandante do exército a Benaia, filho de Joiada, e, em lugar de Abiatar, a Zadoque por sacerdote.
36 Afterwarde the King sent, and called Shimei, and sayde vnto him, Buylde thee an house in Ierusalem, and dwell there, and depart not thence any whither.
36 Depois, mandou o rei chamar a Simei e lhe disse: Edifica-te uma casa em Jerusalém, e habita aí, e daí não saias, nem para uma parte nem para outra.
37 For that day that thou goest out, and passest ouer the riuer of Kidron, knowe assuredly, that thou shalt dye the death: thy blood shall be vpon thine owne head.
37 Porque há de ser que, no dia em que saíres e passares o ribeiro de Cedrom, fica sabendo que serás morto; o teu sangue cairá, então, sobre a tua cabeça.
38 And Shimei sayd vnto the King, The thing is good: as my lord the King hath sayd, so wil thy seruant doe. So Shimei dwelt in Ierusalem many dayes.
38 Simei disse ao rei: Boa é essa palavra; como disse o rei, meu senhor, assim fará o teu servo. E Simei habitou em Jerusalém muitos dias.
39 And after three yeres two of the seruants of Shimei fled away vnto Achish sonne of Maachah King of Gath: and they tolde Shimei, saying, Behold, thy seruants be in Gath.
39 Ao cabo de três anos, porém, dois escravos de Simei fugiram para Aquis, filho de Maaca, rei de Gate; e deram parte a Simei, dizendo: Eis que teus servos estão em Gate.
40 And Shimei arose, and sadled his asse, and went to Gath to Achish, to seeke his seruantes: and Shimei went, and brought his seruants from Gath.
40 Então, Simei se dispôs, albardou o seu jumento e foi a Gate ter com Aquis em busca dos seus escravos; e trouxe de Gate os seus escravos.
41 And it was tolde Salomon, that Shimei had gone from Ierusalem to Gath, and was come againe.
41 Foi Salomão avisado de que Simei de Jerusalém fora a Gate e já havia voltado.
42 And the King sent and called Shimei, and sayde vnto him, Did I not make thee to sweare by the Lord, and protested vnto thee, saying, That day that thou goest out, and walkest any whither, knowe assuredly that thou shalt dye the death? And thou saydest vnto mee, The thing is good, that I haue heard.
42 Então, mandou o rei chamar a Simei e lhe disse: Não te fiz eu jurar pelo Senhor e não te protestei, dizendo: No dia em que saíres para uma ou outra parte, fica sabendo que serás morto? E tu me disseste: Boa é essa palavra que ouvi.
43 Why then hast thou not kept the othe of the Lord, and the commandement wherewith I charged thee?
43 Por que, pois, não guardaste o juramento do Senhor , nem a ordem que te dei?
44 The King sayde also to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickednes whereunto thine heart is priuie, that thou diddest to Dauid my father: the Lord therefore shall bring thy wickednesse vpon thine owne head.
44 Disse mais o rei a Simei: Bem sabes toda a maldade que o teu coração reconhece que fizeste a Davi, meu pai; pelo que o Senhor te fez recair sobre a cabeça a tua maldade.
45 And let King Salomon be blessed, and the throne of Dauid stablished before the Lord for euer.
45 Mas o rei Salomão será abençoado, e o trono de Davi, mantido perante o Senhor , para sempre.
46 So the King comanded Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada: who went out and smote him that he dyed. And the kingdome was established in the hand of Salomon.
46 O rei deu ordem a Benaia, filho de Joiada, o qual saiu e arremeteu contra ele, de sorte que morreu; assim se firmou o reino sob o domínio de Salomão.
