1 And they continued three yeere without warre betweene Aram and Israel.
1 Passaram-se três anos sem haver guerra entre a Síria e Israel.
2 And in the third yeere did Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah come downe to ye King of Israel.
2 No terceiro ano, porém, desceu Jeosafá, rei de Judá, a ter com o rei de Israel.
3 (Then the King of Israel saide vnto his seruants, Knowe yee not that Ramoth Gilead was ours? and wee stay, and take it not out of ye hand of the King of Aram?)
3 E o rei de Israel disse aos seus servos: Não sabeis vós que Ramote-Gileade é nossa, e nós estamos quietos, sem a tomar da mão do rei da Síria?
4 And he sayde vnto Iehoshaphat, Wilt thou goe with mee to battel against Ramoth Gilead? And Iehoshaphat saide vnto the King of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and mine horses as thine horses.
4 Então perguntou a Jeosafá: Irás tu comigo à peleja, a Ramote-Gileade? Respondeu Jeosafá ao rei de Israel: Como tu és sou eu, o meu povo como o teu povo, e os meus cavalos como os teus cavalos.
5 Then Iehoshaphat saide vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsaile, I pray thee, of the Lord to day.
5 Disse mais Jeosafá ao rei de Israel: Rogo-te, porém, que primeiro consultes a palavra do Senhor.
6 Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets vpon a foure hundreth men, and said vnto them, Shal I go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I let it alone? And they said, Go vp: for ye Lord shall deliuer it into the hands of the King.
6 Então o rei de Israel ajuntou os profetas, cerca de quatrocentos homens, e perguntou-lhes: Irei à peleja contra Ramote-Gileade, ou deixarei de ir? Responderam eles: Sobe, porque o Senhor a entregará nas mãos do rei.
7 And Iehoshaphat said, Is there here neuer a Prophet of the Lord more, that we might inquire of him?
7 Disse, porém, Jeosafá: Não há aqui ainda algum profeta do Senhor, ao qual possamos consultar?
8 And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man (Michaiah the sonne of Imlah) by whom we may aske counsel of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophecie good vnto me, but euill. And Iehoshaphat sayd, Let not the King say so.
8 Então disse o rei de Israel a Jeosafá: Ainda há um homem por quem podemos consultar ao Senhor-Micaías, filho de Inlá; porém eu o odeio, porque nunca profetiza o bem a meu respeito, mas somente o mal. Ao que disse Jeosafá: Não fale o rei assim.
9 Then the King of Israel called an Eunuche, and sayde, Call quickely Michaiah the sonne of Imlah.
9 Então o rei de Israel chamou um eunuco, e disse: Traze-me depressa Micaías, filho de Inlá.
10 And the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne in their apparell in the voyde place at the entring in of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophecied before them.
10 Ora, o rei de Israel e Jeosafá, rei de Judá, vestidos de seus trajes reais, estavam assentados cada um no seu trono, na praça à entrada da porta de Samária; e todos os profetas profetizavam diante deles.
11 And Zidkiiah the sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayd, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites, vntill thou hast consumed them.
11 E Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, fez para si uns chifres de ferro, e disse: Assim diz o Senhor: Com estes ferirás os sírios, até que sejam consumidos.
12 And all the prophets prophecied so, saying, Goe vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.
12 Do mesmo modo também profetizavam todos os profetas, dizendo: Sobe a Ramote-Gileade, e serás bem sucedido; porque o Senhor a entregará nas mãos do rei.
13 And the messenger that was gone to call Michaiah spake vnto him, saying, Beholde now, the wordes of the prophets declare good vnto the King with one accorde: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like the worde of one of them, and speake thou good.
13 O mensageiro que fora chamar Micaías falou-lhe, dizendo: Eis que as palavras dos profetas, a uma voz, são favoráveis ao rei; seja, pois, a tua palavra como a de um deles, e fala o que é bom.
14 And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer the Lord sayth vnto me, that will I speake.
14 Micaías, porém, disse: Vive o Senhor, que o que o Senhor me disser, isso falarei.
15 So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall we leaue off? And he answered him, Goe vp, and prosper: and the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.
15 Quando ele chegou à presença do rei, este lhe disse: Micaías, iremos a Ramote-Gileade à peleja, ou deixaremos de ir? Respondeu-lhe ele: Sobe, e serás bem sucedido, porque o Senhor a entregará nas mãos do rei.
16 And the King said vnto him, How oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the Name of the Lord?
16 E o rei lhe disse: Quantas vezes hei de conjurar-te que não me fales senão a verdade em nome do Senhor?
17 Then he said, I sawe all Israel scattered vpon the mountaines, as sheepe that had no shepheard. And the Lord sayde, These haue no master, let euery man returne vnto his house in peace.
17 Então disse ele: Vi todo o Israel disperso pelos montes, como ovelhas que não têm pastor; e disse o Senhor: Estes não têm senhor; torne cada um em paz para sua casa.
18 (And the King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would prophecie no good vnto me, but euill?)
18 Disse o rei de Israel a Jeosafá: Não te disse eu que ele não profetizaria o bem a meu respeito, mas somente o mal?
19 Againe he said, Heare thou therefore the worde of the Lord. I sawe the Lord sit on his throne, and all the hoste of heauen stood about him on his right hand and on his left hand.
19 Micaías prosseguiu: Ouve, pois, a palavra do Senhor! Vi o Senhor assentado no seu trono, e todo o exército celestial em pé junto a ele, à sua direita e à sua esquerda.
20 And the Lord sayd, Who shall entise Ahab that he may go and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one said on this maner, and another sayd on that maner.
20 E o Senhor perguntou: Quem induzirá Acabe a subir, para que caia em Ramote-Gileade? E um respondia de um modo, e outro de outro.
21 Then there came forth a spirit, and stoode before the Lord, and sayd, I wil entise him. And the Lord sayd vnto him, Wherewith?
21 Então saiu um espírito, apresentou-se diante do Senhor, e disse: Eu o induzirei. E o Senhor lhe perguntou: De que modo?
22 And he sayd, I will goe out, and be a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. Then he sayd, Thou shalt entise him, and shalt also preuayle: goe forth, and doe so.
22 Respondeu ele: Eu sairei, e serei um espírito mentiroso na boca de todos os seus profetas. Ao que disse o Senhor: Tu o induzirás, e prevalecerás; sai, e faze assim.
23 Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirite in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath appoynted euill against thee.
23 Agora, pois, eis que o Senhor pôs um espírito mentiroso na boca dentes da casa dele; sim, tornarei a tua casa como a casa de respeito de ti.
24 Then Zidkiiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah on the cheeke and sayd, When went the Spirite of the Lord from me, to speake vnto thee?
24 Então Zedequias, filho de Quenaaná, chegando-se, feriu a Micaías na face e disse: Por onde passou de mim o Espírito do Senhor para falar a ti?
25 And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.
25 Respondeu Micaías: Eis que tu o verás naquele dia, quando entrares numa câmara interior, para te esconderes.
26 And the King of Israel sayd, Take Michaiah, and cary him vnto Amon the gouernour of the citie, and vnto Ioash the Kings sonne,
26 Então disse o rei de Israel: Tomai Micaías, e tornai a levá-lo a Amom, o governador da cidade, e a Joás, filho do rei,
27 And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction, and with water of affliction, vntill I returne in peace.
27 dizendo-lhes: Assim diz o rei: Metei este homem no cárcere, e sustentai-o a pão e água, até que eu volte em paz.
28 And Michaiah sayde, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he sayd, Hearken all ye people.
28 Replicou Micaías: Se tu voltares em paz, o senhor não tem falado por mim. Disse mais: Ouvi, povos todos!
29 So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
29 Assim o rei de Israel e Jeosafá, rei de Judá, subiram a Ramote-Gileade.
30 And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, I will change mine apparell, and will enter into the battell, but put thou on thine apparell. And the King of Israel changed himselfe, and went into the battel.
30 E disse o rei de Israel a Jeosafá: Eu me disfarçarei, e entrarei na peleja; tu, porém, veste os teus trajes reais. Disfarçou-se, pois, o rei de Israel, e entrou na peleja.
31 And the King of Aram commanded his two and thirtie captaines ouer his charets, saying, Fight neither with small, nor great, saue onely against the King of Israel.
31 Ora, o rei da Síria tinha ordenado aos capitães dos carros, que eram trinta e dois, dizendo: Não pelejeis nem contra pequeno nem contra grande, senão só contra o rei de Israel.
32 And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayd, Surely it is the King of Israel, and they turned to fight against him: and Iehoshaphat cryed.
32 E sucedeu que, vendo os capitães dos carros a Jeosafá, disseram: Certamente este é o rei de Israel. Viraram-se, pois, para pelejar com ele, e Jeosafá gritou.
33 And when the captaines of the charets saw that he was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.
33 Vendo os capitães dos carros que não era o rei de Israel, deixaram de segui-lo.
34 Then a certaine man drewe a bow mightily and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine. Wherefore he sayde vnto his charet man, Turne thine hand and cary me out of the hoste: for I am hurt.
34 Então um homem entesou o seu arco, e atirando a esmo, feriu o rei de Israel por entre a couraça e a armadura abdominal. Pelo que ele disse ao seu carreteiro: Dá volta, e tira-me do exército, porque estou gravemente ferido.
35 And the battel encreased that day, and the King stoode still in his charet against the Aramites, and dyed at euen: and the blood ran out of the wound into the middes of the charet.
35 E a peleja tornou-se renhida naquele dia; contudo o rei foi sustentado no carro contra os sírios; porém à tarde ele morreu; e o sangue da ferida corria para o fundo do carro.
36 And there went a proclamation thorowout the hoste about the going downe of the sunne, saying, Euery man to his citie, and euery man to his owne countrey.
36 Ao pôr do sol passou pelo exército a palavra: Cada um para a sua cidade, e cada um para a sua terra!
37 So the King died, and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the King in Samaria.
37 Morreu, pois, o rei, e o levaram para Samária, e ali o sepultaram.
38 And one washed the charet in the poole of Samaria, and the dogs licked vp his blood (and they washed his armour) according vnto the word of the Lord which he spake.
38 E lavaram o seu carro junto ao tanque de Samária, e os cães lamberam-lhe o sangue, conforme a palavra que o Senhor tinha dito; ora, as prostitutas se banhavam ali.
39 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ahab and all that he did, and the yuorie house which he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
39 Quanto ao restante dos atos de Acabe, e a tudo quanto fez, e à casa de marfim que construiu, e a todas as cidades que edificou, porventura não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel?
40 So Ahab slept with his fathers, and Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.
40 Assim dormiu Acabe com seus pais. E Acazias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
41 And Iehoshaphat the sonne of Asa began to reigne vpon Iudah in the fourth yeere of Ahab King of Israel.
41 Ora, Jeosafá, filho de Asa, começou a reinar sobre Judá no quarto ano de Acabe, rei de Israel.
42 Iehoshaphat was fiue and thirty yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned fiue and twentie yeere in Ierusalem. And his mothers name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
42 Era Jeosafá da idade de trinta e cinco anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou vinte e cinco anos em Jerusalém. Era o nome de sua mãe Azuba, filha de Sili.
43 And he walked in all the wayes of Asa his father, and declined not therefrom, but did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord. Neuerthelesse the hie places were not taken away: for the people offred still and burnt incense in the hie places.
43 E andou em todos os caminhos de seu pai Asa; não se desviou deles, mas fez o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor.
44 And Iehoshaphat made peace with the King of Israel.
44 Todavia os altos não foram tirados e o povo ainda sacrificava e queimava incenso nos altos.
45 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoshaphat, and his worthy deedes that he did, and his battels which he fought, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
45 E Jeosafá teve paz com o rei de Israel.
46 And the Sodomites, which remayned in the dayes of his father Asa, he put cleane out of the land.
46 Quanto ao restante dos atos de Jeosafá, e ao poder que mostrou, e como guerreou, porventura não estão escritos no livro das crônicas dos reis de Judá?
47 There was then no King in Edom: the deputie was King.
47 Também expulsou da terra o restante dos sodomitas, que ficaram nos dias de seu pai Asa
48 Iehoshaphat made shippes of Tharshish to sayle to Ophir for golde, but they went not, for the shippes were broken at Ezion Gaber.
48 Nesse tempo não havia rei em Edom; um vice-rei governava.
49 Then sayde Ahaziah the sonne of Ahab vnto Iehoshaphat, Let my seruants goe with thy seruants in the ships, But Iehoshaphat would not.
49 E Jeosafá construiu navios de Társis para irem a Ofir em busca de ouro; porém não foram, porque os navios se quebraram em Eziom-Geber.
50 And Iehoshaphat did sleepe with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid his father, and Iehoram his sonne reigned in his stead.
50 Então Acazias, filho de Acabe, disse a Jeosafá: Vão os meus servos com os teus servos nos navios. Jeosafá, porém, não quis.
51 Ahaziah the sonne of Ahab began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, the seuenteenth yeere of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, and reigned two yeeres ouer Israel.
51 Depois Jeosafá dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado junto a eles na cidade de Davi, seu pai. E em seu lugar reinou seu filho Jeorão.
52 But he did euill in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.
52 Ora, Acazias, filho de Acabe, começou a reinar em Samaria no ano dezessete de Jeosafá, rei de Judá, e reinou dois anos sobre Israel.
53 For he serued Baal and worshipped him, and prouoked the Lord God of Israel vnto wrath, according vnto all that his father had done.
53 E fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor; porque andou no caminho de seu pai, como também no caminho de sua mãe, e no caminho de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, que fez Israel pecar.
54 — ausente —
54 Serviu a Baal, e o adorou, provocando à ira o Senhor Deus de Israel, conforme tudo quanto seu pai fizera.
