1 And beholde, there came a man of God out of Iudah (by the commandement of the Lord) vnto Beth-el, and Ieroboam stoode by the altar to offer incense.
1 E eis que, por ordem do SENHOR, veio, de Judá a Betel, um homem de Deus; e Jeroboão estava junto ao altar, para queimar incenso.
2 And he cryed against the altar by the comandement of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord, Beholde, a child shalbe borne vnto the house of Dauid, Iosiah by name, and vpon thee shall he sacrifice the Priestes of the hie places that burne incense vpon thee, and they shall burne mens bones vpon thee.
2 E ele clamou contra o altar por ordem do Senhor, e disse: Altar, altar! Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que um filho nascerá à casa de Davi, cujo nome será Josias, o qual sacrificará sobre ti os sacerdotes dos altos que sobre ti queimam incenso, e ossos de homens se queimarão sobre ti.
3 And he gaue a signe the same time, saying, This is the signe, that the Lord hath spoken, Behold, the altar shall rent, and the ashes that are vpon it, shall fall out.
3 E deu, naquele mesmo dia, um sinal, dizendo: Este é o sinal de que o Senhor falou: Eis que o altar se fenderá, e a cinza, que nele está, se derramará.
4 And when the King had heard the saying of the man of God, which he had cryed against the altar in Beth-el, Ieroboam stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, Lay holde on him: but his hande which he put foorth against him, dryed vp, and he could not pull it in againe to him.
4 Sucedeu, pois, que, ouvindo o rei a palavra do homem de Deus, que clamara contra o altar de Betel, Jeroboão estendeu a sua mão de sobre o altar, dizendo: Pegai-o! Mas a sua mão, que estendera contra ele, se secou, e não podia tornar a trazê-la a si.
5 The altar also claue asunder, and the ashes fell out from the altar, according to the signe, which the man of God had giuen by the commandement of the Lord.
5 E o altar se fendeu, e a cinza se derramou do altar, segundo o sinal que o homem de Deus apontara por ordem do Senhor.
6 Then the King answered, and saide vnto the man of God, I beseeche thee, pray vnto ye Lord thy God, and make intercession for me, that mine hand may bee restored vnto me. And the man of God besought the Lord, and the Kings hand was restored, and became as it was afore.
6 Então respondeu o rei, e disse ao homem de Deus: Suplica ao Senhor teu Deus, e roga por mim, para que se me restitua a minha mão. Então o homem de Deus suplicou ao Senhor, e a mão do rei se lhe restituiu, e ficou como dantes.
7 Then the King sayde vnto the man of God, Come home with mee, that thou mayest dyne, and I will giue thee a reward.
7 E o rei disse ao homem de Deus: Vem comigo para casa, e conforta-te; e dar-te-ei um presente.
8 But the man of God saide vnto the King, If thou wouldest giue me halfe thine house, I would not goe in with thee, neither woulde I eate bread nor drinke water in this place.
8 Porém o homem de Deus disse ao rei: Ainda que me desses metade da tua casa, não iria contigo, nem comeria pão nem beberia água neste lugar.
9 For so was it charged mee by the worde of the Lord, saying, Eate no bread nor drinke water, nor turne againe by the same way that thou camest.
9 Porque assim me ordenou o Senhor pela sua palavra, dizendo: Não comerás pão nem beberás água; e não voltarás pelo caminho por onde vieste.
10 So he went another way and returned not by the way that he came to Beth-el.
10 Assim foi por outro caminho; e não voltou pelo caminho, por onde viera a Betel.
11 And an olde Prophet dwelt in Beth-el, and his sonnes came and tolde him all ye woorkes, that the man of God had done that day in Beth-el, and the wordes which he had spoken vnto the King, tolde they their father.
11 E morava em Betel um velho profeta; e vieram seus filhos, e contaram-lhe tudo o que o homem de Deus fizera aquele dia em Betel, e as palavras que dissera ao rei; e as contaram a seu pai.
12 And their father sayde vnto them, What way went he? and his sonnes shewed him what waye the man of God went, which came from Iudah.
12 E disse-lhes seu pai: Por que caminho se foi? E seus filhos lhe mostraram o caminho por onde fora o homem de Deus que viera de Judá.
13 And hee saide vnto his sonnes, Saddle mee the asse. Who sadled him the asse, and hee rode thereon,
13 Então disse a seus filhos: Albardai-me um jumento. E albardaram-lhe o jumento no qual ele montou.
14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting vnder an oke: and he saide vnto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Iudah? And he sayd, Yea.
14 E foi após o homem de Deus, e achou-o assentado debaixo de um carvalho, e disse-lhe: És tu o homem de Deus que vieste de Judá? E ele disse: Sou.
15 Then he said vnto him, Come home with me, and eate bread.
15 Então lhe disse: Vem comigo à casa, e come pão.
16 But he answered, I may not returne with thee, nor go in with thee, neither wil I eate bread nor drinke water with thee in this place.
16 Porém ele disse: Não posso voltar contigo, nem entrarei contigo; nem tampouco comerei pão, nem beberei contigo água neste lugar.
17 For it was charged me by the word of the Lord, saying, Thou shalt eate no bread, nor drinke water there, nor turne againe to goe by the way that thou wentest.
17 Porque me foi mandado pela palavra do Senhor: Ali não comerás pão, nem beberás água; nem voltarás pelo caminho por onde vieste.
18 And he said vnto him, I am a Prophet also as thou art, and an Angel spake vnto me by the worde of the Lord, saying, Bring him againe with thee into thine house, that hee may eate bread and drinke water: but he lyed vnto him.
18 E ele lhe disse: Também eu sou profeta como tu, e um anjo me falou por ordem do Senhor, dizendo: Faze-o voltar contigo à tua casa, para que coma pão e beba água (porém mentiu-lhe).
19 So he went againe with him, and did eate bread in his house, and dranke water.
19 Assim voltou com ele, e comeu pão em sua casa e bebeu água.
20 And as they sate at the table, the worde of the Lord came vnto the Prophet, that brought him againe.
20 E sucedeu que, estando eles à mesa, a palavra do Senhor veio ao profeta que o tinha feito voltar.
21 And hee cried vnto the man of God that came from Iudah, saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Because thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandement which the Lord thy God commanded thee,
21 E clamou ao homem de Deus, que viera de Judá, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor: Porquanto foste rebelde à ordem do Senhor, e não guardaste o mandamento que o Senhor teu Deus te mandara,
22 But camest backe againe, and hast eaten bread and drunke water in the place (whereof he did say vnto thee, Thou shalt eate no bread nor drinke any water) thy carkeis shall not come vnto the sepulchre of thy fathers.
22 Antes voltaste, e comeste pão e bebeste água no lugar de que o Senhor te dissera: Não comerás pão nem beberás água; o teu cadáver não entrará no sepulcro de teus pais.
23 And when he had eaten bread and drunke, he sadled him the asse, to wit, to the Prophet whome he had brought againe.
23 E sucedeu que, depois que comeu pão, e depois que bebeu, albardou ele o jumento para o profeta que fizera voltar.
24 And when hee was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slewe him, and his body was cast in the way, and the asse stoode thereby: the lion stood by the corps also.
24 Este, pois, se foi, e um leão o encontrou no caminho, e o matou; e o seu cadáver ficou estendido no caminho, e o jumento estava parado junto a ele, e também o leão estava junto ao cadáver.
25 And beholde, men that passed by, sawe the carkeis cast in the way, and the lion standing by the corps: and they came and tolde it in ye towne where the olde Prophet dwelt.
25 E eis que alguns homens passaram, e viram o corpo lançado no caminho, como também o leão, que estava junto ao corpo; e foram, e o disseram na cidade onde o velho profeta habitava.
26 And when the Prophet that brought him backe againe from the waye, hearde thereof, hee sayde, It is the man of God, who hath bene disobedient vnto the commandement of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath deliuered him vnto the lion, which hath rent him and slayne him, according to the worde of the Lord, which hee spake vnto him.
26 E, ouvindo-o o profeta que o fizera voltar do caminho, disse: É o homem de Deus, que foi rebelde à ordem do Senhor; por isso o Senhor o entregou ao leão, que o despedaçou e matou, segundo a palavra que o Senhor lhe dissera.
27 And he spake to his sonnes, saying, Saddle me the asse. And they sadled him.
27 Então disse a seus filhos: Albardai-me o jumento. Eles o albardaram.
28 And he went and founde his body cast in the way, and the asse and the lion stoode by the corps: and the lion had not eaten the bodie, nor torne the asse.
28 Então foi, e achou o cadáver estendido no caminho, e o jumento e o leão, que estavam parados junto ao cadáver; e o leão não tinha devorado o corpo, nem tinha despedaçado o jumento.
29 And the Prophet tooke vp the body of the man of God, and layed it vpon the asse, and brought it againe, and the olde Prophet came to the citie, to lament and burie him.
29 Então o profeta levantou o cadáver do homem de Deus, e pô-lo em cima do jumento levando-o consigo; assim veio o velho profeta à cidade, para o chorar e enterrar.
30 And hee layed his bodie in his owne graue, and they lamented ouer him, saying, Alas, my brother.
30 E colocou o cadáver no seu próprio sepulcro; e prantearam-no, dizendo: Ah, irmão meu!
31 And when he had buried him, hee spake to his sonnes, saying, When I am dead, burie ye mee also in the sepulchre, wherein the man of God is buried: lay my bones beside his bones.
31 E sucedeu que, depois de o haver sepultado, disse a seus filhos: Morrendo eu, sepultai-me no sepulcro em que o homem de Deus está sepultado; ponde os meus ossos junto aos ossos dele.
32 For that thing which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar that is in Beth-el, and against all the houses of the hie places, which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to passe.
32 Porque certamente se cumprirá o que pela palavra do Senhor exclamou contra o altar que está em Betel, como também contra todas as casas dos altos que estão nas cidades de Samaria.
33 Howbeit after this, Ieroboam conuerted not from his wicked way, but turned againe, and made of the lowest of the people Priests of the hie places. Who would, might consecrate him selfe, and be of the Priestes of the hie places.
33 Nem depois destas coisas deixou Jeroboão o seu mau caminho; antes, de todo o povo, tornou a constituir sacerdotes dos lugares altos; e a qualquer que queria consagrava sacerdote dos lugares altos.
34 And this thing turned to sinne vnto the house of Ieroboam, euen to roote it out, and destroy it from the face of the earth.
34 E isso foi causa de pecado à casa de Jeroboão, para destruí-la e extingui-la da terra.
