1 PETER an Apostle of IESVS CHRIST, to the strangers that dwell here and there throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,
1 Pedro, apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, aos estrangeiros dispersos no Ponto, Galácia, Capadócia, Ásia e Bitínia,
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God ye Father vnto sanctification of ye Spirit, through obedience and sprinkeling of the blood of Iesus Christ: Grace and peace bee multiplied vnto you.
2 eleitos segundo a presciência de Deus Pai, em santificação do Espírito, para a obediência e aspersão do sangue de Jesus Cristo: graça e paz vos sejam multiplicadas.
3 Blessed bee God, euen the Father of our Lord Iesus Christ, which according to his aboundant mercie hath begotten vs againe vnto a liuely hope by the resurrection of Iesus Christ from the dead,
3 Bendito seja o Deus e Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, que, segundo a sua grande misericórdia, nos gerou de novo para uma viva esperança, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo dentre os mortos,
4 To an inheritance immortall and vndefiled, and that withereth not, reserued in heauen for vs,
4 para uma herança incorruptível, incontaminável e que se não pode murchar, guardada nos céus para vós
5 Which are kept by the power of God through faith vnto saluation, which is prepared to be shewed in the last time.
5 que, mediante a fé, estais guardados na virtude de Deus, para a salvação já prestes para se revelar no último tempo,
6 Wherein yee reioyce, though nowe for a season (if neede require) yee are in heauinesse, through manifolde tentations,
6 em que vós grandemente vos alegrais, ainda que agora importa, sendo necessário, que estejais por um pouco contristados com várias tentações,
7 That the triall of your faith, being much more precious then golde that perisheth (though it be tried with fire) might bee founde vnto your praise, and honour and glorie at the appearing of Iesus Christ:
7 para que a prova da vossa fé, muito mais preciosa do que o ouro que perece e é provado pelo fogo, se ache em louvor, e honra, e glória na revelação de Jesus Cristo;
8 Whome yee haue not seene, and yet loue him, in whome nowe, though yee see him not, yet doe you beleeue, and reioyce with ioy vnspeakeable and glorious,
8 ao qual, não o havendo visto, amais; no qual, não o vendo agora, mas crendo, vos alegrais com gozo inefável e glorioso,
9 Receiuing the ende of your faith, euen the saluation of your soules.
9 alcançando o fim da vossa fé, a salvação da alma.
10 Of the which saluation ye Prophets haue inquired and searched, which prophecied of the grace that should come vnto you,
10 Da qual salvação inquiriram e trataram diligentemente os profetas que profetizaram da graça que vos foi dada,
11 Searching when or what time the Spirite which testified before of Christ which was in them, shoulde declare the sufferings that should come vnto Christ, and the glorie that shoulde follow.
11 indagando que tempo ou que ocasião de tempo o Espírito de Cristo, que estava neles, indicava, anteriormente testificando os sofrimentos que a Cristo haviam de vir e a glória que se lhes havia de seguir.
12 Vnto whome it was reueiled, that not vnto themselues, but vnto vs they shoulde minister the things, which are nowe shewed vnto you by them which haue preached vnto you the Gospell by the holy Ghost sent downe from heauen, the which things the Angels desire to beholde.
12 Aos quais foi revelado que, não para si mesmos, mas para nós, eles ministravam estas coisas que, agora, vos foram anunciadas por aqueles que, pelo Espírito Santo enviado do céu, vos pregaram o evangelho, para as quais coisas os anjos desejam bem atentar.
13 Wherefore, girde vp the Ioynes of your minde: bee sober, and trust perfectly on that grace that is brought vnto you, in the reuelation of Iesus Christ,
13 Portanto, cingindo os lombos do vosso entendimento, sede sóbrios e esperai inteiramente na graça que se vos ofereceu na revelação de Jesus Cristo,
14 As obedient children, not fashioning your selues vnto the former lustes of your ignorance:
14 como filhos obedientes, não vos conformando com as concupiscências que antes havia em vossa ignorância;
15 But as hee which hath called you, is holie, so be yee holie in all maner of conuersation;
15 mas, como é santo aquele que vos chamou, sede vós também santos em toda a vossa maneira de viver,
16 Because it is written, Be yee holie, for I am holie.
16 porquanto escrito está: Sede santos, porque eu sou santo.
17 And if ye call him Father, which without respect of person iudgeth according to euery mans woorke, passe the time of your dwelling here in feare,
17 E, se invocais por Pai aquele que, sem acepção de pessoas, julga segundo a obra de cada um, andai em temor, durante o tempo da vossa peregrinação,
18 Knowing that yee were not redeemed with corruptible things, as siluer and golde, from your vaine conuersation, receiued by the traditions of the fathers,
18 sabendo que não foi com coisas corruptíveis, como prata ou ouro, que fostes resgatados da vossa vã maneira de viver que, por tradição, recebestes dos vossos pais,
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lambe vndefiled, and without spot.
19 mas com o precioso sangue de Cristo, como de um cordeiro imaculado e incontaminado,
20 Which was ordeined before the foundation of the world, but was declared in the last times for your sakes,
20 o qual, na verdade, em outro tempo, foi conhecido, ainda antes da fundação do mundo, mas manifestado, nestes últimos tempos, por amor de vós;
21 Which by his meanes doe beleeue in God that raised him from the dead, and gaue him glorie, that your faith and hope might bee in God,
21 e por ele credes em Deus, que o ressuscitou dos mortos e lhe deu glória, para que a vossa fé e esperança estivessem em Deus.
22 Hauing purified your soules in obeying the trueth through the spirite, to loue brotherly without faining, loue one another with a pure heart feruently,
22 Purificando a vossa alma na obediência à verdade, para amor fraternal, não fingido, amai-vos ardentemente uns aos outros, com um coração puro;
23 Being borne anewe, not of mortall seede, but of immortall, by the woorde of God, who liueth and endureth for euer.
23 sendo de novo gerados, não de semente corruptível, mas da incorruptível, pela palavra de Deus, viva e que permanece para sempre.
24 For all flesh is as grasse, and all the glorie of man is as the flower of grasse. The grasse withereth, and the flower falleth away.
24 Porque toda carne é como erva, e toda a glória do homem, como a flor da erva. Secou-se a erva, e caiu a sua flor;
25 But the worde of the Lord endureth for euer: and this is the woorde which is preached among you.
25 mas a palavra do Senhor permanece para sempre. E esta é a palavra que entre vós foi evangelizada.
