1 Nowe afterward when Dauid dwelt in his house, he saide to Nathan the Prophet, Beholde, I dwell in an house of cedar trees, but the Arke of the Lordes couenant remaineth vnder curtaines.
1 Davi estava morando no seu palácio. Um dia ele mandou chamar o profeta Natã e disse: — Veja só! Eu estou aqui, morando numa casa revestida de madeira de cedro, mas a
2 Then Nathan said to Dauid, Do all that is in thine heart: for God is with thee.
2 Natã respondeu: — Faça tudo o que quiser, pois Deus está com o senhor.
3 And the same night euen the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
3 Mas naquela noite o Senhor disse a Natã:
4 Goe, and tell Dauid my seruant, Thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not buylde me an house to dwell in:
4 — Vá e diga ao meu servo Davi que eu mandei dizer o seguinte: “Você não é a pessoa que vai construir o templo em que eu vou morar.
5 For I haue dwelt in no house, since the day that I brought out the childre of Israel vnto this daye, but I haue bene from tent to tent, and from habitation to habitation.
5 Desde o tempo em que tirei o povo de Israel do Egito até hoje, eu não tenho morado em nenhum templo. Tenho sempre morado numa tenda e mudado de um lugar para outro.
6 Wheresoeuer I haue walked with all Israel spake I one word to any of the iudges of Israel (whome I commanded to feede my people) saying, Why haue ye not built mee an house of cedar trees?
6 Em todas as minhas viagens com o povo de Israel, nunca perguntei a nenhum dos líderes que escolhi por que razão eles não construíram para mim um templo revestido de cedro.”
7 Nowe therefore thus shalt thou say vnto my seruant Dauid, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I tooke thee from the sheepecoat and from following the sheepe, that thou shouldest bee a prince ouer my people Israel.
7 Portanto, diga ao meu servo Davi que eu, o Senhor Deus Todo-Poderoso, digo o seguinte: “Eu tirei você do trabalho de cuidar de ovelhas nos campos, para que governasse o meu povo de Israel.
8 And I haue bene with thee whithersoeuer thou hast walked, and haue destroyed all thine enemies out of thy sight, and haue made thee a name, like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
8 Estive com você em todos os lugares por onde tem ido e o defendi de todos os seus inimigos conforme você foi avançando. Eu farei com que você seja famoso, tão famoso quanto os maiores líderes do mundo. Escolhi um lugar para o meu povo de Israel e o fiz morar ali, num lugar onde eles viverão sem nunca mais serem perseguidos. Desde que entraram nesta terra, eles têm sido atacados por povos violentos, mas isso não acontecerá mais. Prometo derrotar todos os seus inimigos e dar descendentes a você.
9 (Also I will appoynt a place for my people Israel, and will plant it, that they may dwell in their place, and moue no more: neither shall the wicked people vexe them any more, as at the beginning,

10 And since the time that I commanded iudges ouer my people Israel) And I wil subdue all thine enemies: therefore I say vnto thee, that the Lord wil buylde thee an house.
10 — ausente —
11 And when thy dayes shalbe fulfilled to go with thy fathers, then will I rayse vp thy seede after thee, which shalbe of thy sonnes, and will stablish his kingdome.
11 E, quando você morrer e for sepultado ao lado dos seus antepassados, eu colocarei um dos seus filhos como rei e tornarei forte o reino dele.
12 He shall builde me an house, and I will stablish his throne for euer.
12 Será ele quem construirá um templo para mim, e eu farei com que os seus descendentes governem para sempre.
13 I wil be his father, and he shalbe my sonne, aud I will not take my mercie away from him, as I tooke it from him that was before thee.
13 Eu serei pai dele, e ele será meu filho. Nunca retirarei dele o meu amor, como fiz com Saul, que foi rei antes de você.
14 But I wil establish him in mine house, and in my kingdome for euer, and his throne shalbe stablished for euer,
14 Eu o colocarei como responsável pelo meu povo e pelo meu reino para sempre. A sua descendência real nunca terminará.”
15 According to all these wordes, and according to al this vision. So Nathan spake to Dauid.
15 E Natã contou a Davi tudo o que Deus lhe havia revelado.
16 And Dauid the King went in and sate before the Lord and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
16 Então o rei Davi entrou na barraca, sentou-se e orou assim: — Ó
17 Yet thou esteeming this a small thing, O God, hast also spoken concerning the house of thy seruaut for a great while, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of hie degree, O Lord God.
17 E, como se isso ainda fosse pouco, estás fazendo promessas a respeito dos meus descendentes no futuro e tu, ó Senhor Deus, já me estás tratando como um grande homem.
18 What can Dauid desire more of thee for the honour of thy seruant? for thou knowest thy seruant.
18 O que mais posso te dizer? Tu me conheces bem e, no entanto, me honras a mim, teu servo .
19 O Lord, for thy seruantes sake, euen according to thine heart hast thou done all this great thing to declare all magnificence.
19 Era teu desejo e propósito fazeres isso por mim e me mostrares a minha futura grandeza.
20 Lord, there is none like thee, neither is there any God besides thee, according to all that we haue heard with our eares.
20 Ó Senhor , não há ninguém igual a ti; nós sempre soubemos que só tu és Deus.
21 Moreouer what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whose God went to redeeme them to be his people, and to make thy selfe a Name, and to doe great and terrible things by casting out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast deliuered out of Egypt?
21 Não há nenhuma outra nação na terra como o teu povo de Israel, que libertaste para ser o teu próprio povo. As grandes e maravilhosas coisas que fizeste por eles tornaram o teu nome famoso em todo o mundo. Tu libertaste o teu povo do Egito e expulsaste as outras nações conforme o teu povo ia avançando.
22 For thou hast ordeined thy people Israel to be thine owne people for euer, and thou Lord art become their God.
22 Tu fizeste com que o teu povo de Israel fosse teu para sempre e tu, ó Senhor , te tornaste o seu Deus.
23 Therefore nowe Lord, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy seruant and concerning his house, be confirmed for euer, and doe as thou hast sayd,
23 — E agora, ó Senhor Deus, confirma para sempre a promessa que fizeste a meu respeito e a respeito dos meus descendentes e cumpre o que disseste que ias fazer.
24 And let thy name be stable and magnified for euer, that it may be sayd, The Lord of hostes, God of Israel, is the God of Israel, and let the house of Dauid thy seruant bee stablished before thee.
24 A tua fama será grande, e para sempre as pessoas dirão: “O Senhor Todo-Poderoso é o Deus de Israel.” E tu farás com que sempre haja reis entre os meus descendentes.
25 For thou, O my God, hast reueiled vnto the eare of thy seruant, that thou wilt builde him an house: therefore thy seruant hath bene bolde to pray before thee.
25 Ó meu Deus, eu tenho coragem para te fazer esta oração porque revelaste a mim, teu servo, que farás com que os meus descendentes sejam reis.
26 Therefore nowe Lord (for thou art God, and hast spoken this goodnesse vnto thy seruant)
26 Tu, ó Senhor , és Deus e me fizeste essa maravilhosa promessa.
27 Now therfore, it hath pleased thee to blesse the house of thy seruant, that it may bee before thee for euer: for thou, O Lord, hast blessed it, and it shalbe blessed for euer.
27 Eu te peço que abençoes os meus descendentes para que eles continuem a ter sempre a tua proteção. Tu, ó Senhor , os tens abençoado, e que a tua bênção esteja com eles para sempre.
