1 Then sent Hiram the King of Tyrus messengers to Dauid, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters to builde him an house.
1 Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou a Davi mensageiros com madeira de cedro, pedreiros e carpinteiros, para que lhe construíssem um palácio.
2 Therefore Dauid knewe that the Lord had confirmed him King ouer Israel, and that his kingdome was lift vp on hie, because of his people Israel.
2 E Davi compreendeu que o S enhor o havia confirmado como rei sobre Israel e exaltado seu reino por causa de seu povo, Israel.
3 Also Dauid tooke moe wiues at Ierusalem, and Dauid begate moe sonnes and daughters.
3 Em Jerusalém, Davi tomou para si outras mulheres, que lhe deram mais filhos e filhas.
4 And these are the names of the children which he had at Ierusalem, Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Salomon,
4 Estes são os nomes dos filhos de Davi que nasceram em Jerusalém: Samua, Sobabe, Natã, Salomão,
5 And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
5 Ibar, Elisua, Elpalete,
6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Iaphia,
6 Nogá, Nefegue, Jafia,
7 And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
7 Elisama, Eliada e Elifelete.
8 But when the Philistims heard that Dauid was anointed King ouer Israel, all the Philistims came vp to seeke Dauid. And when Dauid heard, he went out against them.
8 Quando os filisteus souberam que Davi tinha sido ungido rei de Israel, mobilizaram suas tropas para capturá-lo. Davi, porém, foi informado disso e saiu para enfrentá-los.
9 And the Philistims came, and spred them selues in the valley of Rephaim.
9 Os filisteus chegaram e invadiram o vale de Refaim.
10 Then Dauid asked counsel at God, saying, Shall I goe vp against the Philistims, and wilt thou deliuer them into mine hande? And the Lord saide vnto him, Goe vp: for I will deliuer them into thine hande.
10 Então Davi perguntou a Deus: “Devo sair e lutar contra os filisteus? Tu os entregarás em minhas mãos?”. O S
11 So they came vp to Baal-perazim, and Dauid smote them there: and Dauid said, God hath deuided mine enemies with mine hande, as waters are deuided: therefore they called the name of that place, Baal-perazim.
11 Então Davi e seus soldados foram a Baal-Perazim e ali derrotaram os filisteus. Davi exclamou: “Por meu intermédio, Deus irrompeu no meio de meus inimigos como uma violenta inundação!”. Por isso, chamou aquele lugar de Baal-Perazim.
12 And there they had left their gods: and Dauid said, Let them euen be burnt with fire.
12 Os filisteus haviam deixado seus ídolos ali, e Davi ordenou que fossem queimados.
13 Againe the Philistims came and spread them selues in the valley.
13 Pouco tempo depois, os filisteus voltaram a invadir o vale.
14 And when Dauid asked againe counsell at God, God said to him, Thou shalt not goe vp after them, but turne away from them, that thou mayest come vpon them ouer against the mulberie trees.
14 Mais uma vez, Davi consultou a Deus. “Não os ataque pela frente”, respondeu Deus. “Em vez disso, dê a volta por trás deles e ataque-os perto dos álamos.
15 And when thou hearest the noyse of one going in the toppes of the mulberie trees, then goe out to battel: for God is gone foorth before thee, to smite the hoste of the Philistims.
15 Quando ouvir um som como de pés marchando por cima dos álamos, saia e ataque! É o sinal de que Deus vai à sua frente para derrotar o exército filisteu.”
16 So Dauid did as God had commanded him: and they smote the hoste of the Philistims from Gibeon euen to Gezer.
16 Davi fez como Deus ordenou e derrotou os filisteus por todo o caminho, desde Gibeom até Gezer.
17 And the fame of Dauid went out into all landes, and the Lord brought the feare of him vpon all nations.
17 Assim, a fama de Davi se espalhou por toda parte, e o S enhor fez que todas as nações o temessem.
