1 And Dauid counselled with the captaines of thousandes and of hundreths, and with all the gouernours.
1 Ora, Davi consultou os chefes dos milhares, e das centenas, a saber, todos os oficiais.
2 And Dauid said to all the Congregation of Israel, If it seeme good to you, and that it proceedeth of the Lord our God, we will sende to and from vnto our brethren, that are left in all the lande of Israel (for with them are the Priests and the Leuites in the cities and their suburbes) that they may assemble them selues vnto vs.
2 E disse Davi a toda a congregação de Israel: Se bem vos parece, e se isto vem do Senhor nosso Deus, enviemos mensageiros por toda parte aos nossos outros irmãos que estão em todas as terras de Israel, e com eles aos sacerdotes e levitas nas suas cidades, e nos seus campos, para que se reunam conosco,
3 And we will bring againe the Arke of our God to vs: for we sought not vnto it in the dayes of Saul.
3 e tornemos a trazer para nós a arca do nosso Deus; porque não a buscamos nos dias de Saul.
4 And all the Congregation answered, Let vs doe so: for the thing seemed good in the eyes of all the people.
4 E toda a congregação concordou em que assim se fizesse; porque isso pareceu reto aos olhos de todo o povo.
5 So Dauid gathered all Israel together from Shihor in Egypt, euen vnto the entring of Hamath, to bring the Arke of God from Kiriath-iearim.
5 Convocou, pois, Davi todo o Israel desde Sior, o ribeiro do Egito, até a entrada de Hamate, para trazer de Quiriate-Jearim a arca de Deus.
6 And Dauid went vp and all Israel to Baalath, in Kiriath-iearim, that was in Iudah, to bring vp from thence the Arke of God the Lord that dwelleth betweene the Cherubims, where his Name is called on.
6 E Davi, com todo o Israel, subiu a Baalá, isto é, a Quiriate-Jearim, que está em Judá, para fazer subir dali a arca de Deus, a qual se chama pelo nome do Senhor, que habita entre os querubins.
7 And they caryed the Arke of God in a newe cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Vzza and Ahio guided the cart.
7 Levaram a arca de Deus sobre um carro novo, tirando-a da casa de Abinadabe; e Uzá e Aiô guiavam o carro.
8 And Dauid and all Israel played before God with all their might, both with songes and with harpes, and with violes, and with timbrels and with cymbales and with trumpets.
8 Davi e todo o Israel alegravam-se perante Deus com todas as suas forças, cantando e tocando harpas, alaúdes, tamboris, címbalos e trombetas.
9 And when they came vnto the thresshing floore of Chidon, Vzza put forth his hand to holde the Arke, for the oxen did shake it.
9 Quando chegaram a eira de Quidom, Uzá estendeu a mão para segurar a arca, porque os bois tropeçavam.
10 But the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Vzza, and he smote him, because he layed his hande vpon the Arke: so he dyed there before God.
10 Então se acendeu a ira do Senhor contra Uzá, e o Senhor o feriu por ter estendido a mão à arca; e ele morreu ali perante Deus.
11 And Dauid was angrie, because the Lord had made a breach in Vzza, and he called the name of that place Perez-vzza vnto this day.
11 E Davi se encheu de desgosto porque o Senhor havia irrompido contra Uzá; pelo que chamou aquele lugar Pérez-Uzá, como se chama até o dia de hoje.
12 And Dauid feared God that day, saying, Howe shall I bring in to me the Arke of God?
12 Temeu Davi a Deus naquele dia, e disse: Como trarei a mim a arca de Deus?
13 Therefore Dauid brought not the Arke to him into the citie of Dauid, but caused it to turne into the house of Obed Edom the Gittite.
13 Pelo que não trouxe a arca a si para a cidade de Davi, porém a fez retirar para a casa de Obede-Edom, o giteu.
14 So the Arke of God remained in the house of Obed Edom, euen in his house three moneths: and the Lord blessed the house of Obed Edom, and all that he had.
14 Assim ficou a arca de Deus com a família de Obede-Edom, três meses em sua casa; e o Senhor abençoou a casa de Obede-Edom, e tudo o que lhe pertencia.
