1 Am I not an Apostle? am I not free? haue I not seene Iesus Christ our Lord? are ye not my worke in the Lord?
1 Não sou livre? Não sou apóstolo? Não vi Jesus, nosso Senhor? Não são vocês resultado do meu trabalho no Senhor?
2 If I be not an Apostle vnto other, yet doutlesse I am vnto you: for ye are the seale of mine Apostleship in the Lord.
2 Ainda que eu não seja apóstolo para outros, certamente o sou para vocês! Pois vocês são o selo do meu apostolado no Senhor.
3 My defence to them that examine mee, is this,
3 Esta é minha defesa diante daqueles que me julgam.
4 Haue we not power to eat and to drinke?
4 Não temos nós o direito de comer e beber?
5 Or haue we not power to lead about a wife being a sister, as well as the rest of the Apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
5 Não temos nós o direito de levar conosco uma esposa crente como fazem os outros apóstolos, os irmãos do Senhor e Pedro?
6 Or I only and Barnabas, haue not we power not to worke?
6 Ou será que apenas eu e Barnabé não temos o direito de deixar de trabalhar para termos sustento?
7 Who goeth a warfare any time at his owne coste? who planteth a vineyarde, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flocke, and eateth not of the milke of the flocke?
7 Quem serve como soldado às suas próprias custas? Quem planta uma vinha e não come do seu fruto? Quem apascenta um rebanho e não bebe do seu leite?
8 Say I these thinges according to man? saith not the Lawe the same also?
8 Não digo isso do ponto de vista meramente humano; a Lei não diz a mesma coisa?
9 For it is written in the Lawe of Moses, Thou shalt not mussell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne: doeth God take care for oxen?
9 Pois está escrito na Lei de Moisés: "Não amordace o boi enquanto ele estiver debulhando o cereal". Por acaso é com bois que Deus está preocupado?
10 Either saith hee it not altogether for our sakes? For our sakes no doubt it is written, that he which eareth, should eare in hope, and that he that thresheth in hope, should be partaker of his hope.
10 Não é certamente por nossa causa que ele o diz? Sim, isso foi escrito em nosso favor. Porque "o lavrador quando ara e o debulhador quando debulha, devem fazê-lo na esperança de participar da colheita".
11 If wee haue sowen vnto you spirituall thinges, is it a great thing if we reape your carnall thinges?
11 Se entre vocês semeamos coisas espirituais, seria demais colhermos de vocês coisas materiais?
12 If others with you bee partakers of this power, are not we rather? neuerthelesse, we haue not vsed this power: but suffer all things, that we should not hinder the Gospel of Christ.
12 Se outros têm direito de ser sustentados por vocês, não o temos nós ainda mais? Mas nós nunca usamos desse direito. Pelo contrário, suportamos tudo para não colocar obstáculo algum ao evangelho de Cristo.
13 Doe ye not knowe, that they which minister about the holy things, eate of the things of the Temple? and they which waite at the altar, are partakers with the altar?
13 Vocês não sabem que aqueles que trabalham no templo alimentam-se das coisas do templo, e que os que servem diante do altar participam do que é oferecido no altar?
14 So also hath the Lord ordeined, that they which preach ye Gospel, should liue of the Gospel.
14 Da mesma forma o Senhor ordenou àqueles que pregam o evangelho, que vivam do evangelho.
15 But I haue vsed none of these things: neither wrote I these things, that it should be so done vnto me: for it were better for me to die, then that any man should make my reioycing vaine.
15 Mas eu não tenho usado de nenhum desses direitos. Não estou escrevendo na esperança de que vocês façam isso por mim. Prefiro morrer a permitir que alguém me prive deste meu orgulho.
16 For though I preach the Gospel, I haue nothing to reioyce of: for necessitie is laid vpon me, and woe is vnto me, if I preach not the Gospel.
16 Contudo, quando prego o evangelho, não posso me orgulhar, pois me é imposta a necessidade de pregar. Ai de mim se não pregar o evangelho!
17 For if I do it willingly, I haue a reward, but if I do it against my will, notwithstanding the dispensation is committed vnto me.
17 Porque, se prego de livre vontade, tenho recompensa; contudo, como prego por obrigação, estou simplesmente cumprindo uma incumbência a mim confiada.
18 What is my reward then? verely that when I preach the Gospel, I make the Gospel of Christ free, that I abuse not mine authoritie in ye Gospel.
18 Qual é, pois, a minha recompensa? Apenas esta: que, pregando o evangelho, eu o apresente gratuitamente, não usando, assim, dos meus direitos ao pregá-lo.
19 For though I bee free from all men, yet haue I made my selfe seruant vnto all men, that I might winne the moe.
19 Porque, embora seja livre de todos, fiz-me escravo de todos, para ganhar o maior número possível de pessoas.
20 And vnto the Iewes, I become as a Iewe, that I may winne the Iewes: to them that are vnder the Lawe, as though I were vnder the Lawe, that I may winne them that are vnder the Lawe:
20 Tornei-me judeu para os judeus, a fim de ganhar os judeus. Para os que estão debaixo da lei, tornei-me como se estivesse sujeito à lei, ( embora eu mesmo não esteja debaixo da lei ), a fim de ganhar os que estão debaixo da lei.
21 To them that are without Lawe, as though I were without Lawe, (when I am not without Lawe as pertaining to God, but am in the Lawe through Christ) that I may winne them that are without Lawe:
21 Para os que estão sem lei, tornei-me como sem lei ( embora não esteja livre da lei de Deus, mas sim sob a lei de Cristo ), a fim de ganhar os que não têm a lei.
22 To the weake I become as weake, that I may winne the weake: I am made all thinges to all men, that I might by all meanes saue some.
22 Para com os fracos tornei-me fraco, para ganhar os fracos. Tornei-me tudo para com todos, para de alguma forma salvar alguns.
23 And this I doe for the Gospels sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
23 Faço tudo isso por causa do evangelho, para ser co-participante dele.
24 Knowe ye not, that they which runne in a race, runne all, yet one receiueth the price? so runne that ye may obtaine.
24 Vocês não sabem que dentre todos os que correm no estádio, apenas um ganha o prêmio? Corram de tal modo que alcancem o prêmio.
25 And euery man that proueth masteries, abstaineth from all things: and they do it to obtaine a corruptible crowne: but we for an vncorruptible.
25 Todos os que competem nos jogos se submetem a um treinamento rigoroso, para obter uma coroa que logo perece; mas nós o fazemos para ganhar uma coroa que dura para sempre.
26 I therefore so runne, not as vncertainely: so fight I, not as one that beateth the ayre.
26 Sendo assim, não corro como quem corre sem alvo, e não luto como quem esmurra o ar.
27 But I beate downe my body, and bring it into subiection, lest by any meanes after that I haue preached to other, I my selfe should be reproued.
27 Mas esmurro o meu corpo e faço dele meu escravo, para que, depois de ter pregado aos outros, eu mesmo não venha a ser reprovado.
