1 Jesus tornou a falar-lhes por meio de parábolas:
2 “Umbuso wezulu ufaniswa nomuntu oyinkosi, owenzela indodana yakhe umshado.
2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,
3 Wathuma izinceku zakhe ukubiza abamenyiweyo emshadweni; kepha abavumanga ukuza.
3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.
4 “Waphinda wathuma ezinye izinceku, wathi: ‘Shonini kwabamenyiweyo ukuthi: Bhekani, sengilungisile ukudla kwami; izinkabi zami nokunonileyo sekuhlatshiwe; konke sekulungile, wozani emshadweni.’
4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 “Kepha badelela, bahamba; omunye waya ensimini yakhe, omunye waya entengweni yakhe.
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.
6 Abaseleyo babamba izinceku zakhe, baziphatha kabi, bazibulala.
6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew {them}.
7 Kepha inkosi yathukuthela, yathuma amabutho ayo, yabulala labo babulali, yashisa umuzi wabo.
7 And {when} the king {heard of it he} was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 “Khona yathi ezincekwini zayo: ‘Umshado usulungiselwe, kepha abamenyiweyo bebengafanele;
8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;
9 ngakho-ke hambani niye ezinhlanganweni zezindlela, nibizele emshadweni bonke eningabafumana.’
9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.
10 Lezo zinceku zaphuma, zaya ezindleleni, zabutha bonke ezabafumanayo, ababi nabahle; indlu yomshado yagcwala abahleziyo ekudleni.
10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.
11 “Kuthe inkosi ingena ukubona abahleziyo ekudleni, yabona khona umuntu obengayembethe ingubo yomshado;
11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.
12 yathi kuye: ‘Mngane, ungene kanjani lapha ungayembethe ingubo yomshado na?’ Kepha wathula.
12 And he says to him, {My} friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.
13 “Khona inkosi yathi ezincekwini: ‘Mbopheni izinyawo nezandla, nimphonse ebumnyameni obungaphandle; lapho kuyakuba khona ukukhala nokugedla amazinyo.’
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
14 “Ngokuba baningi ababiziweyo, kepha bayingcosana abakhethiweyo.”
14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Khona abaFarisi basuka, bacebisana ukuba bamhile ngezwi.

16 Bathuma kuye abafundi babo kanye nabakaHerode, bathi: “Mfundisi, siyazi ukuthi uqinisile, ufundisa indlela kaNkulunkulu ngeqiniso; awukhathali ngamuntu, ngokuba awubheki ubuso babantu.
16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
17 Ngakho sitshele, uthini wena? Kuvunyelwe ukuthela kuKesari noma qha?”
17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 Kepha uJesu ebazi ububi babo wathi: “Bazenzisi, ningilingelani na?
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 Ngitshengiseni imali yokuthela,” bamtshengisa udenariyu.
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 Wayesethi kubo: “Ngokabani lo mfanekiso nalo mbhalo na?”
20 And he says to them, Whose {is} this image and superscription?
21 Bathi: “NgokaKesari.” Khona wathi kubo: “Ngakho-ke nikani uKesari okukaKesari noNkulunkulu okukaNkulunkulu.”
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
22 Sebezwile lokho bamangala, bamshiya, bamuka.
22 And when they heard {him}, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 Ngalolo suku kwafika kuye abaSadusi abathi akukho ukuvuka kwabafileyo, bambuza

24 bathi: “Mfundisi, uMose wathi: ‘Uma umuntu efa engenabantwana, umfowabo kamngene umkakhe, amvusele umfowabo inzalo.’
24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
25 Kwakukhona-ke kithi izelamani eziyisikhombisa: owokuqala waganwa, wafa; engenanzalo washiya umkakhe kumfowabo.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
26 Kanjalo nowesibili nowesithathu, kwaze kwaba kowesikhombisa.
26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 Emva kwabo bonke wafa umfazi.
27 And last of all the woman also died.
28 Pho, ekuvukeni kwabafileyo uyakuba ngumkabani kwabayisikhombisa, lokhu bonke babe naye, na?”
28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
29 Kepha uJesu waphendula, wathi kubo: “Nidukile ningayazi imibhalo namandla kaNkulunkulu.
29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 Ngokuba ekuvukeni kwabafileyo abaganwa, abendiswa, kodwa banjengezingelosi ezulwini.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.
31 Kepha maqondana nokuvuka kwabafileyo anifundanga yini okwakhulunywa kini nguNkulunkulu, ethi:
31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:
32 ‘Mina nginguNkulunkulu ka-Abrahama, noNkulunkulu ka-Isaka, noNkulunkulu kaJakobe,’ na? Akasiye uNkulunkulu wabafileyo kodwa owabaphilayo.”
32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.
33 Kwathi izixuku zikuzwa lokho, zamangala ngokufundisa kwakhe.
33 E, ouvindo esta doutrina, as turbas se enchiam de grande admiração.
34 AbaFarisi sebezwile ukuthi uJesu ubathulisile abaSadusi, babuthana ndawonye.
34 Sabendo os fariseus que Jesus reduzira ao silêncio os saduceus, reuniram-se
35 Omunye wabo, isazimthetho, wamlinga, wathi:
35 e um deles, doutor da lei, fez-lhe esta pergunta para pô-lo à prova:
36 “Mfundisi, ngumuphi umyalo omkhulu emthethweni na?”
36 Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da lei?
37 UJesu wathi kuye: “ ‘Woyithanda iNkosi uNkulunkulu wakho ngayo yonke inhliziyo yakho, nangawo wonke umphefumulo wakho, nangayo yonke ingqondo yakho.’
37 Respondeu Jesus: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo teu coração, de toda tua alma e de todo teu espírito {Dt 6,5}.
38 Yilowo umyalo omkhulu nowokuqala.
38 Este é o maior e o primeiro mandamento.
39 Owesibili ofana nawo uthi: ‘Wothanda umakhelwane wakho njengalokhu uzithanda wena.’
39 E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás teu próximo como a ti mesmo {Lv 19,18}.
40 Kuleyo miyalo emibili kubambelela umthetho wonke nabaprofethi.”
40 Nesses dois mandamentos se resumem toda a lei e os profetas.
41 Besabuthene abaFarisi, uJesu wababuza,
41 Como os fariseus se agrupassem, Jesus interrogou-os:
42 wathi: “Nithini ngoKristu na? Uyindodana kabani na?” Bathi kuye: “EkaDavide.”
42 Que pensais vós de Cristo? De quem é filho? Responderam: De Davi!
43 Wathi kubo: “Pho, uDavide ngoMoya wambiza kanjani ngokuthi iNkosi, ethi:
43 Como então, prosseguiu Jesus, Davi, falando sob inspiração do Espírito, chama-o Senhor, dizendo:
44 “ ‘INkosi yathi eNkosini yami: “Hlala ngakwesokunene sami, ngize ngibeke izitha zakho phansi kwezinyawo zakho.” ’
44 O Senhor disse a meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha teus inimigos por escabelo dos teus pés {Sl 109,1}?
45 “Ngakho-ke uma uDavide embiza ngokuthi iNkosi, uyindodana yakhe kanjani na?”
45 Se, pois, Davi o chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
46 Kwakungekho obengamphendula ngazwi; emva kwalolo suku akwabe kusabakho muntu onesibindi sokumbuza lutho.
46 Ninguém pôde responder-lhe nada. E, depois daquele dia, ninguém mais ousou interrogá-lo.
