5 For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;

7 {Ye} husbands likewise, dwell with {them} according to knowledge, as with a weaker, {even} the female, vessel, giving {them} honour, as also fellow-heirs of {the} grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.

9 not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing {others}, because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.

10 For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
11 Makaphambuke ebubini, enze okulungileyo; Makafune uxolo, aluphuthume."
11 And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
12 Ngokuba amehlo eNkosi aphezu kwamalungisa, Neendlebe zayo zisingisele esikhungweni sawo; Ke ubuso beNkosi buphezu kwabenza okubi."
12 because {the} eyes of {the} Lord {are} on {the} righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but {the} face of {the} Lord {is} against them that do evil.
13 Kananjalo ngubani na yena owonona, ukuba nithe naba ngabalandeli bokulungileyo?"
13 And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which {is} good?
14 Nokuba nithe neva ubunzima ngenxa yobulungisa, ninoyolo; musani ukoyika ngokoyikisa kwabo, ningakhathazeki nokukhathazeka."
14 E até sereis felizes, se padecerdes alguma coisa por causa da justiça!
15 INkosi ke uThixo yingcwaliseni ezintliziyweni zenu, nihlale ke nikulungele ukuziphendulela kumntu wonke obuzayo kuni ilizwi, ngalo ithemba elingaphakathi kwenu, ninobulali noloyiko;"
15 Portanto, não temais as suas ameaças e não vos turbeis. Antes santificai em vossos corações Cristo, o Senhor. Estai sempre prontos a responder para vossa defesa a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão de vossa esperança, mas fazei-o com suavidade e respeito.

16 Tende uma consciência reta a fim de que, mesmo naquilo em que dizem mal de vós, sejam confundidos os que desacreditam o vosso santo procedimento em Cristo.
17 Ukuba ke kungaba kukuthanda kukaThixo ukuba nive ubunzima, okona kunilungeleyo kukubuva nisenza okulungileyo, kunokubuva nisenza okubi."
17 Aliás, é melhor padecer, se Deus assim o quiser, por fazer o bem do que por fazer o mal.
18 Ngokuba noKristu wabuva kwakanye ubunzima ngenxa yezono, ilungisa lisiva ubunzima ngenxa yabangemalungisa, ukuze asisondeze kuye uThixo; ebulewe okunene esenyameni, kodwa edliswe ubomi ekuwo umoya."
18 Pois também Cristo morreu uma vez pelos nossos pecados - o Justo pelos injustos - para nos conduzir a Deus. Padeceu a morte em sua carne, mas foi vivificado quanto ao espírito.

20 quando Deus aguardava com paciência, enquanto se edificava a arca, na qual poucas pessoas, isto é, apenas oito se salvaram através da água.
21 Olusisindisayo ngawo nathi ngoku ubhaptizo ngokomfuziselo; olungekuko ukulahla ubunyhukunyhuku benyama; olukukubuzisa kuThixo kwesazela esilungileyo, ngokuvuka kukaYesu Kristu;"
21 Esta água prefigurava o batismo de agora, que vos salva também a vós, não pela purificação das impurezas do corpo, mas pela que consiste em pedir a Deus uma consciência boa, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.
22 osekunene kukaThixo, eye emazulwini, kwakubon’ ukuba kuthotyelwe phantsi kwakhe izithunywa zezulu, noomagunya, namandla."
22 Esse Jesus Cristo, tendo subido ao céu, está assentado à direita de Deus, depois de ter recebido a submissão dos anjos, dos principados e das potestades.
