2 as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

3 if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.

5 yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Ma bii nyi ha'ə, acii tə'i manaahəkii asəkə malaaɓa ləkaləkatə oo'i:
6 Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
7 Ma unə ənə vigi nuunə ka faaratsa, kə ndzaa ci ka maɗuunə uushi ətə palee də məghərəvənə koonə. Amma, ma ənjitə pooshi vigi natii nə ka ci, pooshi ci da məghərəvənə ka tii. Tə'i manaahəkii asəkə malaaɓa ləkaləkatə oo'i:
7 To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,
8 Tə'i manaahəkii əsə oo'i:
8 and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
9 Amma, ma una, slikərəətə ta'i Əntaŋfə nuunə, unə nə limanyinə ŋga Ŋwaŋwa, malaaɓa ənja. Unə nə ənji ŋga Əntaŋfə. Kə 'wagi ci tuunə agi təkunə, ca əjipaa tuunə aagi maɓərə haakii ka shaŋə. Ma 'wagi ci tuunə ha'ə, koona waaza ka ənji madiigərə uushi'iitə slənyi ci ka putə ŋga ənja.
9 But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
10 Ma ŋga ŋukə, əntaa ənji ŋga Əntaŋfə njuunə. Amma, ma ŋga əna, ənjaakii nuunə. Ma ŋga ŋukə, mashimuunə a shii luupaanə ŋga Əntaŋfə. Amma, ma ŋga əna, kə liwə unə luupaanaakii.
10 who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
11 Kaɗashinyinaakya, ma ama, məshipətə ənji naamə ganə agi duuniyana; əntaa ganə nə ha ŋga ndzaanə gaamə. Aciikii nə nyi ka kədiinə tuunə, goona slənə uushi'iitə ci shishinuunə a moo slənənə, acii ma uushi'iitsa, ka zanə nə tii duunə.
11 Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Wa slənə goonə a ndzaa ŋga'ə ahada ənjitə pooshi agi nə'unə tə Əntaŋfə. Ɗamə makə ətsa. Taa ŋgahi agi tsəɓənə nə tii tuunə, amma ka neenə nə tii ka gooŋgaanə goonə, təya dəla də Əntaŋfə saa'itə nii kəya shi.
12 having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.
13 Baneemə ka nuunə akəŋwacii gayinə putə ŋga Slandana, taa ka maɗuunə ŋwaŋwə ətə ca ɗa ŋwaŋuunə agyanə ənji patə,

14 taa ka ŋgwaməniinə, acii ŋwaŋwə ca sləkee ka tii ka kəəsə ənjitə ca slənə məzaanə, təya dəla də ənjitə ca ɗa ŋga'əənə.
14 or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
15 Kə mwayi Əntaŋfə koona slənə ŋga'ə, koona shii pa'ətə də ma ŋga ənjitə mashiimə gooŋgaanə.
15 Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
16 Dimuyinə nuunə. Ndzaamə ha'ə. Goona nyihə noonə, makə ɗii unə ka dimuyinə, tə'i unə da rəgwa ŋga slənə bwaya bwayaanə makə sətə mwayi unə. Pooshi. Ma ɗanuuna, ndzaamə ka maviinə ŋga Əntaŋfə.
16 as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
17 Ɗuunətəmə ənji patə, uuɗəmə hara ənji nə'unə tə Yeesu, ŋgwaləmə acii Əntaŋfə, una ɗuunətə maɗuunə ŋwaŋwə əsə.
17 Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
18 Unə maviinə, baneemə ka nuunə akəŋwacii slanjiinuunə ka shaŋə. Ɗuunətəmə tə tii. Əntaa wata ka slanjiinətə ca ɗa koonə ŋga'əənə banee nuunə ka nuunə, amma, taa ka i ətə ca ciɓee koonə, baneemə ka nuunə akəŋwaciitii.
18 Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
19 Ma əndətə ci ənjə a ciɓee ka ci dagyanə slənə ŋga'əənaakii, maɗa kə sə'wii ci ciɓəkii putə ŋga Əntaŋfə, ka ɗanə nə Əntaŋfə ka ci barəkaanə.
19 For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
20 Amma, maɗa ma nuunə ka sə'wa ciɓa dagyanə unə kə slənyi məzaanə, pooshi əndə ca nee koonə makə ənja. Amma, maɗa dagyanə ɗa ŋga'əənə goonə ci ənjə a ciɓee koonə, una sə'wa, ka ɗanə nə Əntaŋfə koonə barəkaanə.
20 For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.
21 Acii ka putakii ha'ə 'wii ci tuunə, acii Yeesu Aləmasiihu maa, kə ciɓi ci ka putə goonə. Kə ɓaarii ci koonə rəgwa koona nə'u dərəpaakii.
21 For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
22 Ma ca, paa ci ɗii 'waslyakəənə, pooshi ənji sha fii jirakənə amakii shaŋə.
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 Kə dzaanii ənji tə ci, amma paa ci dzaanii naakii. Kə ciɓee ənji ka ci, maɗəkəmə ci daawaanə. Amma kə kii ci nəkii ka Əntaŋfə Əndə ɗa gəŋwanə də rəgwakii.
23 who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
24 Kə ŋgərəvə ci 'waslyakəənə gaamə aanəkii saa'itə ɓələgi ənji tə ci ashi ənfwa. Ma ɗii ci ha'ə, kaama ndzaa makə maməətə ənji ka rəgwa slənə 'waslyakəənə, ama ndzaa ka ənji da əpinə amatii ka slənə gooŋgaanə. Putə ŋga uyiginə ŋga Yeesu Aləmasiihu upaa unə mbəɗənə.
24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
25 Ma ŋga ŋukə, makə maza bagiinə njuunə. Amma, ma ŋga əna, kə ənyatə unə aaɓii Magəra ətə ca nəhə tuunə.
25 For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
