1 BUT know you not, my brethren, for to those who know the law I speak, that the law has authority over a man as long as he liveth?
1 Não sabeis vós, irmãos (pois eu falo aos que conhecem a lei), que a lei tem domínio sobre o homem enquanto ele vive?
2 as a woman who is bound in law to her husband as long as he liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is freed from the law of her husband.
2 Porque a mulher que tem marido, está ligada pela lei ao marido, enquanto ele viver; mas se o marido morrer, ela está livre da lei do marido.
3 But if, while her husband lives, she adhere to another man, she becometh an adulteress; but if her husband shall die, she is freed from the law, and is not an adulteress, though she become (the wife) of another man.
3 Então assim, enquanto seu marido viver, se ela se casar com outro homem, será chamada adúltera; mas se seu marido morrer, ela está livre da lei, e assim não será adúltera, mesmo que ela venha a se casar com outro homem.
4 And now, my brethren, you also are dead to the law, through the body of the Meshiha, that you should be married to another, (namely, to) him who rose from the dead, that you may render fruit unto Aloha.
4 Portanto, meus irmãos, vós também vos tornastes mortos para a lei pelo corpo de Cristo, para que chegásseis a ser de outro, do que foi ressuscitado dentre os mortos, a fim de que déssemos fruto para Deus.
5 For while we were in the flesh, the affections of sin, which are against the law, wrought powerfully in our members to yield fruits unto death;
5 Porque, enquanto estávamos na carne, as paixões dos pecados, que eram pela lei, operavam em nossos membros para trazerem fruto para a morte.
6 but now we are loosed from the law, and are dead to that which held us, that we might serve henceforth in the newness of the spirit, and not in the oldness of the writing.
6 Mas agora temos sido libertos da lei, tendo morrido para aquilo em que estávamos retidos; para que sirvamos em novidade de espírito, e não na velhice da letra.
7 What then, say we the law is sin? Not so. But sin I had not learned (to know) but by the law: for I had not known concupiscence (to be sinful), but (by) the law, which hath said, Thou shalt not covet.
7 O que diremos então? A lei é pecado? De forma alguma! Porém, eu não conheci o pecado senão pela lei; porque eu não conheceria o desejo, se a lei não dissesse: Tu não cobiçarás.
8 And by this commandment sin found for itself an occasion, and completed in me all concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
8 Mas o pecado, tomando ocasião pelo mandamento, operou em mim todo tipo de concupiscência; porque sem a lei o pecado está morto.
9 But I was alive without the law formerly: but when the commandment came, sin lived, and I died.
9 Outrora eu estava vivo sem a lei, mas quando o mandamento veio, o pecado reviveu, e eu morri.
10 And that commandment of life was found to me (to tend) unto death.
10 E o mandamento que era ordenado para vida, eu achei que era para morte.
11 For sin, by the occasion it found through the commandment, deceived me, and thereby killed me.
11 Porque o pecado, tomando ocasião pelo mandamento, me enganou, e por ele me matou.
12 The law therefore is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
12 Portanto, a lei é santa, e o mandamento santo, justo e bom.
13 The good, then, unto me, unto death was made? Not so. But sin, that it might be seen what sin is, by the good (law) effected death in me, that sin might be the more condemned by the commandment.
13 Então, o que me é bom tornou-se em morte? De forma alguma! Mas o pecado, para que se mostrasse pecado, operou a morte em mim pelo que é bom; a fim de que pelo mandamento o pecado se tornasse excessivamente pecaminoso.
14 For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, and sold unto sin.
14 Porque nós sabemos que a lei é espiritual; mas eu sou carnal, vendido sob o pecado.
15 For what I work, I know not; and not that which I will, I do; but what I hate, that I do.
15 Porque o que eu faço, eu não o permito: pois o que eu quero isso não faço, mas o que eu odeio isso eu faço.
16 And if the thing that I would not, I do, I witness of the law that it is good.
16 E, se eu faço o que não quero, eu consinto que a lei é boa.
17 But now it is not I who work this, but sin which dwelleth in me.
17 Então agora já não sou eu que faço isto, mas o pecado que habita em mim.
18 For I know that in me, but that is in my flesh, good dwelleth not; because to will the good is easy to me, but to perform it I find not.
18 Porque eu sei que em mim (isto é, na minha carne), não habitam coisas boas; pois o querer está presente em mim, mas o executar do bem eu não encontro.
19 For the good that I will to do, I do not; but the evil that I will not to do, that do I.
19 Porque o bem que eu quero fazer, não faço, mas o mal que não quero fazer, esse eu faço.
20 And if the thing that I will not I do, it is not I who do it, but sin which dwelleth in me.
20 Ora, se eu faço o que não quero, já não sou eu quem o faz, mas o pecado que habita em mim.
21 I find then a law which accordeth with my mind, that willeth to do good, because evil is near to me.
21 Eu acho então esta lei, que, quando quero fazer o bem, o mal está presente comigo.
22 For I rejoice in the law of Aloha in the interior man;
22 Pois eu tenho prazer na lei de Deus, segundo o homem interior;
23 but I see another law in my members, which warreth against the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that is in my members.
23 mas eu vejo outra lei nos meus membros, guerreando contra a lei da minha mente, e me trazendo cativo debaixo da lei do pecado que está nos meus membros.
24 — ausente —
24 Ó miserável homem que eu sou! Quem me livrará do corpo desta morte?
25 I give thanks to Aloha! (it is) by the hand of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha. Now then, I in my mind am the servant of the law of Aloha, but in my flesh I am the servant of the law of sin.
25 Eu agradeço a Deus por meio de Jesus Cristo nosso Senhor. Assim, pois, com a mente, eu mesmo sirvo à lei de Deus, mas com a carne à lei do pecado.
