Atos 27

1 And Festos commanded concerning him that he should be sent unto Caesar in Italia. And he delivered Paulos, and other prisoners with him, to a certain man, a centurion of the band of Sebaste, whose name was Julios.
1 Quando chegou a hora, zarpamos para a Itália. Paulo e muitos outros prisioneiros foram colocados sob a guarda de um oficial romano chamado Júlio, capitão do Regimento Imperial.
2 And when he would proceed, we went down to a ship which was from Adramantos the city, to go to the region of Asia. And Aristarkos, a Makedonoya who was of Thessalunike the city,
2 Aristarco, um macedônio de Tessalônica, nos acompanhou. Partimos num navio que tinha vindo do porto de Adramítio, no litoral noroeste da província da Ásia. Estavam previstas diversas paradas em portos ao longo da costa.
3 entered the ship with us. And the day after we came to Tsaidon. And the centurion behaved with kindness towards Paulos, and permitted him to go to his friends and be refreshed.
3 No dia seguinte, quando ancoramos em Sidom, Júlio demonstrou bondade a Paulo permitindo-lhe que desembarcasse para visitar amigos e receber ajuda material deles.
4 And from thence we voyaged; and because the winds were contrary we made a circuit unto Cypros.
4 Quando partimos de lá, fomos costeando a ilha de Chipre, devido aos ventos contrários que tornavam difícil manter o rumo.
5 And we went through the sea of Cilicia and of Pamphulia, and came to Mura, a city of Lukia.
5 Prosseguindo por mar aberto, passamos pelo litoral da Cilícia e da Panfília, chegando a Mirra, na província de Lícia.
6 And the centurion found there a ship from Aleksandria which was going to Italia, and he placed us in her.
6 Ali, o oficial no comando encontrou um navio egípcio de Alexandria que estava de partida para a Itália e nos fez embarcar.
7 And because she sailed heavily, (after) many days we had scarce come over against Knidos the island, and as the wind did not permit us to go directly, we went round by Kreta against Salmona the city;
7 Navegamos vagarosamente por vários dias e, depois de muita dificuldade, nos aproximamos de Cnido. Por causa dos ventos contrários, atravessamos para Creta, acompanhando o litoral menos exposto da ilha, defronte ao cabo de Salmona.
8 and hardly voyaging we passing around it came to the place which is called the Fair Havens. AND it was nigh to the city named Lasia.
8 Costeamos a ilha com grande esforço, até que chegamos a Bons Portos, perto da cidade de Laseia.
9 And we were there much time, until the day when the day of the fast of the Jihudoyee had also passed, and there had become danger for one to voyage by sea. And Paulos counselled them
9 Havíamos perdido muito tempo. As condições climáticas estavam se tornando perigosas para a navegação, pois se aproximava o fim do outono, e Paulo tratou dessa questão com os oficiais do navio.
10 and said, Men, I perceive that with distress and much loss we are to voyage, not only to the burden of the ship, but also to our own lives.
10 Disse ele: “Senhores, se prosseguirmos, vejo que teremos problemas adiante. Haverá grande prejuízo para o navio e para a carga, e perigo para nossa vida”.
11 But the centurion hearkened to the governor and to the lord of the ship rather than to the counsel of Paulos.
11 Mas o oficial encarregado dos prisioneiros deu mais ouvidos ao capitão e ao proprietário do navio que a Paulo.
12 And because that haven was not convenient to winter in, many of us desired to proceed thence, and if possible to come and winter in a certain harbour in Kreta, called Phoniks, and which looked to the south.
12 E, uma vez que Bons Portos era uma enseada aberta, um péssimo lugar para passar o inverno, a maioria da tripulação desejava ir a Fenice, que ficava mais adiante na costa de Creta, e passar o inverno ali. Fenice era um bom porto, com abertura apenas para o sudoeste e o noroeste.
13 And when the wind of the south blew, and we thought we could come as we desired, we sailed round Kreta.
13 Quando um vento leve começou a soprar do sul, os marinheiros pensaram que conseguiriam chegar lá a salvo. Por isso, levantaram âncora e foram costeando Creta.
14 And after a little there came forth against us a blowing of the tempest which is called Tuphonikos Euroklidon;
14 Mas o tempo mudou de repente, e um vento com força de furacão, chamado Nordeste, soprou sobre a ilha e nos empurrou para o mar aberto.
15 and the ship was carried away, and could not stand against the wind, and we gave her into its hand.
15 Como os marinheiros não conseguiam manobrar o navio para ficar de frente para o vento, desistiram e deixaram que fosse levado pela tempestade.
16 And when we had passed a certain isle that is called Cyra; we could scarcely take up the boat.
16 Navegamos pelo lado menos exposto de uma pequena ilha chamada Cauda, onde, com muito custo, conseguimos içar para bordo o barco salva-vidas que viajava rebocado.
17 And when we had uplifted her, we girded and strengthened the ship. And because we feared lest we should fall into the precipitancy of the sea, we brought down the sails, and so went forward.i
17 Então os marinheiros amarraram cordas em volta do casco do navio para reforçá-lo. Temiam ser arrastados para os bancos de areia de Sirte, diante do litoral africano, por isso baixaram a âncora flutuante para desacelerar o navio e deixaram que fosse levado pelo vento.
18 And while there rose against us the hard tempest, the next day we threw the goods into the sea.
18 No dia seguinte, como ventos com força de vendaval continuavam a castigar o navio, a tripulação começou a lançar a carga ao mar.
19 And the third day the things of the ship itself we cast forth. And when the storm had held more days,
19 No terceiro dia, removeram até mesmo parte do equipamento do navio e o jogaram fora.
20 and neither the sun was seen, nor the moon, nor stars, the hope that we should be saved at all was cut off.
20 A tempestade terrível prosseguiu por muitos dias, escondendo o sol e as estrelas, até que perdemos todas as esperanças.
21 And while no man had taken any food, then stood Paulos among them, and said, Men, if you had been persuaded by me, you would not have voyaged from Kreta, and we should have been exempted from loss, and from this distress.
21 Fazia tempo que ninguém comia. Por fim, Paulo reuniu a tripulação e disse: “Os senhores deveriam ter me dado ouvidos no princípio e não ter deixado Bons Portos. Teriam evitado todo este prejuízo e esta perda.
22 Yet now I counsel you to be without anxiety; for not one of you will perish, but the ship only.
22 Mas tenham bom ânimo! O navio afundará, mas nenhum de vocês perderá a vida.
23 For in this night there appeared to me the angel of Aloha, (of) him whose I am, and whom I serve.
23 Pois, ontem à noite, um anjo do Deus a quem pertenço e sirvo se pôs ao meu lado
24 And he said to me, Fear not, Paulos, for thou art to stand before Caesar; and, behold, Aloha hath given thee the gift of all who voyage with thee.
24 e disse: ‘Não tenha medo, Paulo! É preciso que você compareça diante de César. E Deus, em sua bondade, concedeu proteção a todos que navegam com você’.
25 Therefore, men, take courage; for I believe Aloha, that so it shall be as he hath told me.
25 Portanto, tenham bom ânimo! Creio em Deus; tudo ocorrerá exatamente como ele disse.
26 Nevertheless, upon a certain island we have to be cast.
26 É necessário, porém, que sejamos impulsionados para uma ilha”.
27 AND after fourteen days (in) which we had wandered and been beaten in the sea of Hadrios, in the dividing of the night, the mariners thought that we drew nigh to land.
27 Por volta da meia-noite, na décima quarta noite de tempestade, enquanto éramos levados de um lado para o outro no mar Adriático, os marinheiros perceberam que estávamos perto de terra firme.
28 And they cast the lead, and found twenty cubits; and again a little they proceeded, and found fifteen cubits.
28 Lançaram a sonda e verificaram que a água tinha 37 metros de profundidade. Um pouco depois, lançaram a sonda novamente e encontraram apenas 27 metros.
29 And fearing lest we should be found in a place in which were rocks, they cast forth from the hinder part of the ship four anchors, and prayed that it would become day.
29 Temiam que, se continuássemos assim, seríamos atirados contra as rochas na praia. Por isso, lançaram quatro âncoras da parte de trás do navio e ansiavam para que o dia chegasse logo.
30 But the mariners sought to escape from the ship, and lowered from her the boat into the sea, on the pretext that they would go in her, and bind the ship to the land.
30 Dando a entender que iriam lançar as âncoras da parte da frente, os marinheiros baixaram o barco salva-vidas, na tentativa de abandonar o navio.
31 And when Paulos saw, he said to the centurion and to the soldiers, If these in the ship remain not, you cannot be saved.
31 Paulo, então, disse ao oficial no comando e aos soldados: “Se os marinheiros não permanecerem a bordo, vocês não conseguirão se salvar”.
32 Then cut the soldiers the cable of the boat from the ship, and let her drive.
32 Então os soldados cortaram as cordas do barco salva-vidas e o deixaram à deriva.
33 But Paulos himself, until it was morning, persuaded all of them to take food, saying to them, To-day it is fourteen days (in which) from danger you have tasted nothing.
33 Enquanto amanhecia, Paulo insistiu que todos comessem. “De tão preocupados, vocês não se alimentam há duas semanas”, disse ele.
34 Wherefore I beseech you receive meat for the establishment of your lives; for a hair of the head of one of you will not perish.
34 “Por favor, comam alguma coisa agora, para seu próprio bem. Pois nem um fio de cabelo de sua cabeça se perderá.”
35 And when these he had said, he took bread, and praised Aloha before them all, and he broke and began to eat.
35 Em seguida, tomou um pão, deu graças a Deus na presença de todos, partiu-o em pedaços e comeu.
36 And they were all comforted, and received food.
36 Todos se animaram e começaram a comer.
37 But we were in the ship two hundred and seventy and six souls.
37 Havia um total de 276 pessoas a bordo.
38 And when they were satisfied with food, they lightened the ship, and took up the wheat and sent it into the sea.
38 Depois de se alimentar, a tripulação aliviou o peso do navio mais um pouco, atirando ao mar toda a carga de trigo.
39 And when it was day, the sailors knew not what land it was; but they saw along the coast a certain inlet of the sea, (into) which they purposed if possible to drive the ship.
39 Ao amanhecer, não reconheceram a terra, mas viram uma enseada com uma praia e cogitaram se seria possível chegar ali e atracar o navio.
40 And they cut the anchors from the ship, and left them in the sea, and they loosed the bands of the oars, and raised a small sail to the wind which blew, and went forward to the face of the land.
40 Então cortaram as âncoras e as deixaram no mar. Depois, afrouxaram as cordas que controlavam os lemes, levantaram a vela da frente e foram rumo à praia,
41 And the ship struck on a high place between two depths of the sea, and infixed herself in it; and her forepart stood upon it, and was immovable, but her afterpart was loosed from the violence of the waves.
41 mas o navio foi apanhado entre duas correntezas contrárias e encalhou antes do esperado. A parte da frente se encravou e ficou imóvel, enquanto a parte de trás, atingida pela força das ondas, começou a se partir.
42 And the soldiers would have killed the prisoners, lest they should cast forth to swim, and escape from them;
42 Os soldados queriam matar os prisioneiros para que não nadassem até a praia e depois fugissem.
43 and the centurion restrained them from this, because he was willing to save Paulos. And those who could cast forth to swim he commanded to be the first to swim, and to pass to the land.
43 O oficial no comando, porém, desejava poupar a vida de Paulo e não permitiu que executassem seu plano. Ordenou aos que sabiam nadar que saltassem ao mar primeiro e fossem em direção a terra.
44 And the rest, on boards, and on other timbers of the ship, passed; and thus all of them escaped to land.
44 Os outros se agarraram a tábuas ou pedaços do navio destruído. Assim, todos chegaram à praia em segurança.
