1 Because then we have these promises, my beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all impurity of the flesh and of the spirit, and accomplish sanctification in the fear of Aloha.
1 Tendo, portanto, amados, essas promessas, purifiquemo-nos de toda a imundícia da carne e do espírito, aperfeiçoando a santidade no temor de Deus.
2 Bear with us, my brethren; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have injured no man.
2 Recebei-nos; a nenhum homem injustiçamos, a nenhum homem corrompemos, a nenhum homem defraudamos.
3 I speak not to your condemnation; for I have said already, that you are laid up in our hearts to die together and to live.
3 Eu não falo isto para vossa condenação; porque eu havia dito antes que estais em nossos corações para morrer e viver convosco.
4 GREAT is the freedom I have with you, and great in you is my glorying; I am full of consolation, and my joy greatly aboundeth in me in all my afflictions.
4 Grande é a minha ousadia no falar convosco; grande é a minha alegria em vós; estou cheio de conforto; transbordo de alegria em todas as nossas tribulações.
5 When, also, we had come into Makedunia, no repose had we for our body, but in every thing were we afflicted; without fighting, and within, fear.
5 Porque, quando chegamos à Macedônia, a nossa carne não teve descanso; mas fomos atribulados por todo lado: por fora lutas, por dentro temores.
6 But Aloha, who consoleth the humble, consoled us by the coming of Titos;
6 Mas Deus, que consola aqueles que estão abatidos, nos confortou com a vinda de Tito;
7 and not only by his coming, but also by his refreshment wherewith he had been refreshed among you. For he told us of your love toward us, and of your lamentation and your zeal on our behalf. And when I heard, my joy was great.
7 e não somente por sua vinda, mas também pela consolação com que foi confortado por vós, contando-nos os vossos desejos sinceros, o vosso pranto, a vossa mente fervorosa por mim, de maneira que me regozijei muito.
8 For though I grieved you in an epistle, I repent me not, though I did repent. For I perceive how that epistle, though for an hour, did make you sorry;
8 Porque embora vos tenha entristecido com a minha carta, eu não me arrependo, mesmo se me arrependesse, por perceber que a mesma carta vos entristeceu, ainda que por pouco tempo.
9 but now I exercise joy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow hath brought you to repentance. For you were sorry towards Aloha; so that in nothing will you suffer loss from us.
9 Agora me regozijo, não de que fostes entristecidos, mas de que fostes entristecidos para o arrependimento; porque fostes entristecidos segundo a maneira de Deus; para que em nada recebêsseis dano por causa de nós.
10 For the sorrow that is for the sake of Aloha worketh soul-penitence, which turneth not and converteth, unto salvation; but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
10 Porque a tristeza segundo Deus opera arrependimento para a salvação, da qual ninguém se arrepende; mas a tristeza do mundo opera a morte.
11 For, behold, (in) this very (case) that you were made contrite for the sake of Aloha; what carefulness it wrought in you, and vindication, and displeasure, and fear, and love, and zeal, and punishment! And by every thing have you shown yourselves to be pure in this matter.
11 Porque isto mesmo que, segundo Deus, vos entristeceu, quanto cuidado vos produziu; sim, que apologia, sim, que indignação, sim, que temor, sim, que desejo veemente, sim, que zelo, sim, que vingança! Em todas as coisas provastes ser inocentes nesta questão.
12 But, it was for this we wrote to you; not on account of the injurer, nor on account of the injured one, but that you may know before Aloha our carefulness over you.
12 Portanto, embora eu tenha escrito a vós, o fiz não por causa do que errou, nem por causa do que foi tratado injustamente, mas para que o nosso cuidado por vós pudesse ser manifesto diante de Deus.
13 For this cause we were consoled, and with our consolation more abundantly did we rejoice in the joy of Titos; because his spirit had been refreshed with you all.
13 Portanto, fomos confortados pelo vosso conforto. Sim, e muito mais nos alegramos pela alegria de Tito, porque o seu espírito foi renovado por vós todos.
14 Because in whatever I had boasted to him concerning you, I have not been ashamed; but, as of every thing we had spoken truth with you, so also our boasting unto Titos hath been found in truth.
14 Porque, se nalguma coisa me gloriei de vós para com ele, não me envergonho; mas, como todas as coisas que eu falei de vós foram verdadeiras, assim também se confirmou como verdadeiro aquilo de que nos gloriamos de vós diante de Tito.
15 And his affection is greatly enlarged toward you, when he remembers your obedience; because with fear and with trembling you received him.
15 E o seu íntimo afeto é mais abundante para convosco, ao lembrar-se da obediência de todos vós, e de como o recebestes com temor e tremor.
16 I rejoice that in every thing I can confide in you.
16 Regozijo-me, portanto, de ter confiança em vós em todas as coisas.
