1 And you know, my brethren, that our entrance unto you was not in vain,
1 Bem sabeis, irmãos, que a nossa ida a vós não foi em vão.
2 but having suffered before and been shamefully treated, as you know, in Philipos, and then (even) in great conflict we spoke with you with the confidence of our God the gospel of the Meshiha.
2 Apesar de maltratados e ultrajados em Filipos, como sabeis, ousamos, confiados em nosso Deus, pregar-vos o Evangelho de Deus em meio de muitas lutas.
3 For our exhortation was not from deceit, nor from uncleanness, nor from guile;
3 A nossa pregação não provém de erro, nem de intenções fraudulentas, nem de engano.
4 but as approved of Aloha to be intrusted with his gospel, so speaking as not to please men, but Aloha who trieth our hearts.
4 Mas, como Deus nos julgou dignos de nos confiar o Evangelho, falamos, não para agradar aos homens, e sim a Deus, que sonda os nossos corações.
5 For never have we used flattering speech, as you know, nor for an occasion of covetousness, Aloha witnesseth.
5 Com efeito, nunca usamos de adulação, como sabeis, nem fomos levados por fins interesseiros. Deus é testemunha.
6 Neither have we sought glory from men, either from you or from others, though we could have been honoured ones, as the apostles of the Meshiha;
6 Não buscamos glórias humanas, nem de vós nem de outros.
7 but we were humble among you, and, as a nurse who loveth her children,
7 Na qualidade de apóstolos de Cristo, poderíamos apresentar-nos como pessoas de autoridade. Todavia, nos fizemos discretos no meio de vós. Como a mãe a acariciar os seus filhinhos,
8 so also we loved, and were desirous to impart to you, not only the gospel of Aloha, but also our life, because we loved you.
8 assim, em nossa ternura por vós, desejávamos não só comunicar-vos o Evangelho de Deus, mas até a nossa própria vida, porquanto nos sois muito queridos.
9 Remember, therefore, my brethren, how we laboured and toiled in the work of our hands by night and by day, that we might not be a burden on one of you.
9 Vós vos lembrais, irmãos, dos nossos trabalhos e de nossa fadiga. Trabalhando noite e dia, para não sermos pesados a nenhum de vós, pregamo-vos o Evangelho de Deus.
10 You witness and Aloha, how we preached to you the gospel of Aloha, purely and justly, and were without blame with all the faithful.
10 Vós sois testemunhas, e também Deus, de quão santa, justa e irrepreensivelmente nos portamos convosco que crestes.
11 As you know how every one of you, as a father his children, we exhorted, and spoke with your hearts;
11 E sabeis que procedemos com cada um de vós como um pai com seus filhos:
12 and (now) we testify to you how you should walk worthy of Aloha himself who hath called you to his kingdom and to his glory.
12 nós vos temos exortado, estimulado, conjurado a vos comportardes de maneira digna de Deus, que vos chama ao seu Reino e à sua glória.
13 WHEREFORE we also give thanks constantly unto Aloha, that the word of Aloha which you received from us, was not as the word of man (that) you received (it), but, as it is truly, the word of Aloha, which in operation worketh (alike) in you and in all them who believe.
13 Por isso é que também nós não cessamos de dar graças a Deus, porque recebestes a palavra de Deus, que de nós ouvistes, e a acolhestes, não como palavra de homens, mas como aquilo que realmente é, como palavra de Deus, que age eficazmente em vós, os fiéis.
14 But you, my brethren, have become like the churches of Aloha which are in Jihud, who are in Jeshu Meshiha, because you likewise suffer from your fellow-country-men, as they also from the Jihudoyee;
14 Com efeito, irmãos, vós vos tornastes imitadores das igrejas de Deus que estão na Judéia, das igrejas de Jesus Cristo. Tivestes que sofrer da parte dos vossos compatriotas o mesmo que eles sofreram dos judeus,
15 who killed our Lord Jeshu Meshiha, and the prophets who were of them, and ourselves have persecuted, and Aloha have not pleased,
15 aqueles judeus que mataram o Senhor Jesus, que nos perseguiram, que não são do agrado de Deus, que são inimigos de todos os homens,
16 and have acted adversely to all men; who forbid us to speak with the Gentiles that they might be saved; to fill up their sins for all time: but upon them cometh the wrath unto the end!
16 visto que nos proíbem pregar aos gentios para que se salvem. E com isto vão enchendo sempre mais a medida dos seus pecados. Mas a ira de Deus acabou por atingi-los.
17 BUT we, my brethren, having been bereaved-ones of you the time of an hour, as to our presence, but not in our heart, have been the more solicitous to see your faces with great love,
17 Nós, irmãos, separados de vós por algum tempo - de vista, não de coração -, temos o mais vivo e ardente desejo de vos rever.
18 and have wished to come to you (even) I, Paulos, one time and two; but Satana hindered me.
18 Pelo que fizemos o possível por ir visitar-vos, ao menos eu, Paulo, em diversas ocasiões. Mas Satanás nos impediu.
19 For what is our hope and our joy, and the crown of our glorying, but you, before our Lord Jeshu at his coming?
19 Pois quem, senão vós, será a nossa esperança, a nossa alegria e a nossa coroa de glória ante nosso Senhor Jesus, no dia de sua vinda?
20 For you are our glory and our joy.
20 Sim, sois vós a nossa glória e a nossa alegria!
