1 Israel, be thou turned again to thy Lord God, for thou falledest down in thy wickedness. (Israel, return thou to the Lord thy God, for thou hast fallen down in thy wickedness.)

(Assyria shall not save us, and we shall not go on horses; we shall no more say to the works of our hands, Ye \+em be\+em* our gods; for only in thee is there mercy, \+em or love\+em*, for the motherless child.)
3 O assírio não nos salvará, não mais montaremos nossos cavalos, e não mais teremos como Deus obra alguma de nossas mãos, porque só junto de vós encontra o órfão compaixão.
4 (\+em And the Lord saith\+em*), I shall make whole the sorrows of them; I shall love them willfully (or I shall love them willingly), for my strong vengeance is turned away from them. 5 I shall be as dew, and Israel shall burgeon as a lily. And the root thereof shall break out as of the Lebanon; (I shall be like the dew, and Israel shall flower like a lily. And it shall be rooted like the mighty trees of Lebanon;)

8 Ephraim, what shall idols do more to me? I shall hear him, and I shall dress him as a green fir tree. Thy fruit is found of me. (What more \+em shall\+em* Ephraim, \+em or the people of Israel\+em*, have \+em to do\+em* with idols? Now I shall hear them, and I shall shelter them like a green fir tree. \+em Remember\+em*, thy fruit cometh from me.)
8 Que terá ainda Efraim de comum com os ídolos? Eu mesmo, que o afligi, torná-lo-ei feliz. Eu sou como o cipreste sempre verde: graças a mim é que produzes fruto.
9 Who is wise, and shall understand these things? who is understanding, and shall know these things? For the ways of the Lord be rightful, and just men shall go in those; but trespassers shall fall in those. (Those who be wise, shall understand these things; \+em and those who have\+em* understanding, shall know these things. For the ways of the Lord \+em be\+em* right, and the righteous, \+em or the just\+em*, shall walk in them; but sinners shall fall in them.)
9 Quem é sábio atenda a estas coisas! Que o homem inteligente reflita nelas, porque os caminhos do Senhor são retos. Os justos andam por eles, mas os pecadores neles tropeçam.
