1 ‘The day is coming that will burn like a|strong="H3068" furnace, and all the proud and all evildoers will be stubble, and the day that is coming will burn them up,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘leaving neither root nor branch.
1 Porque eis que aquele dia vem ardendo como fornalha; todos os soberbos, e todos os que cometem impiedade, serão como a palha; e o dia que está para vir os abrasará, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, de sorte que lhes não deixará nem raiz nem ramo.
2 But to you who revere my name there will arise the sun of righteousness with healing in its wings, and you will run free like calves let out from their stall.
2 Mas para vós, os que temeis o meu nome, nascerá o sol da justiça, e cura trará nas suas asas; e saireis e saltareis como bezerros da estrebaria.
3 In the day when I act you will tread down the wicked, they will be as ashes under the soles of your feet,’ says the Lord of hosts.
3 E pisareis os ímpios, porque se farão cinza debaixo das plantas de vossos pés, naquele dia que estou preparando, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
4 ‘Remember the law of Moses my servant, statutes and judgments which I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.
4 Lembrai-vos da lei de Moisés, meu servo, que lhe mandei em Horebe para todo o Israel, a saber, estatutos e juízos.
5 I am about to send to you Elijah the prophet, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.
5 Eis que eu vos enviarei o profeta Elias, antes que venha o grande e terrível dia do Senhor;
6 He will turn fathers’ hearts to their sons and sons’ hearts to their fathers, so that I will not come and strike the earth with judgement.’
6 E ele converterá o coração dos pais aos filhos, e o coração dos filhos a seus pais; para que eu não venha, e fira a terra com maldição.
