1 There were also in the Church that was at Antiochia, certaine Prophets and teachers, as Barnabas, and Simeon called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manahen (which had bin brought vp with Herod the Tetrarche) and Saul.
1 Na igreja de Antioquia havia os seguintes profetas e mestres: Barnabé; Simeão, chamado “o Negro”; Lúcio, de Cirene; Manaém, que havia sido criado junto com o governador Herodes ; e Saulo.
2 Nowe as they ministred to the Lord, and fasted, the holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul, for the worke whereunto I haue called them.
2 Certa vez, quando eles estavam adorando o Senhor e jejuando, o Espírito Santo disse: — Separem para mim Barnabé e Saulo a fim de fazerem o trabalho para o qual eu os tenho chamado.
3 Then fasted they and prayed, and layde their hands on them, and let them goe.
3 Então eles jejuaram, e oraram, e puseram as mãos sobre Barnabé e Saulo. E os enviaram na sua missão.
4 And they, after they were sent foorth of the holy Ghost, came downe vnto Seleucia, and from thence they sayled to Cyprus.
4 Barnabé e Saulo, tendo sido enviados pelo Espírito Santo, foram até a cidade de Selêucia e dali embarcaram para a ilha de Chipre.
5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the worde of God in the Synagogues of the Iewes: and they had also Iohn to their minister.
5 Quando chegaram à cidade de Salamina, começaram a anunciar a palavra de Deus nas sinagogas . E eles tinham João Marcos para ajudá-los no trabalho missionário.
6 So when they had gone throughout the yle vnto Paphus, they found a certaine sorcerer, a false prophet, being a Iewe, named Bariesus,
6 Eles atravessaram toda a ilha, chegando até a cidade de Pafos. Ali encontraram um judeu que era mágico e falso
7 Which was with the Deputie Sergius Paulus, a prudent man. He called vnto him Barnabas and Saul, and desired to heare the woorde of God.
7 Ele era amigo de Sérgio Paulo, o governador da ilha, que era um homem muito inteligente. O Governador mandou chamar Barnabé e Saulo, pois queria ouvir a palavra de Deus.
8 But Elymas, ye sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstoode them, and sought to turne away the Deputie from the faith.
8 Mas o mágico Elimas (este é o nome dele em grego ) era contra os apóstolos . Ele não queria que o Governador aceitasse a fé cristã.
9 Then Saul (which also is called Paul) being full of the holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
9 Então Saulo, também conhecido como Paulo , cheio do Espírito Santo, olhou firmemente para Elimas
10 And sayde, O full of all subtiltie and all mischiefe, the childe of the deuill, and enemie of all righteousnesse, wilt thou not cease to peruert the straight waies of the Lord?
10 e disse: — Filho do Diabo! Inimigo de tudo o que é bom! Homem mau e mentiroso! Por que é que você não para de torcer o verdadeiro ensinamento do Senhor?
11 Nowe therefore behold, the hand of the Lord is vpon thee, and thou shalt be blinde, and not see the sunne for a season. And immediately there fel on him a mist and a darknes; and he went about, seeking some to leade him by the hand.
11 Agora escute! O Senhor vai castigá-lo. Você ficará cego e não verá a luz do sol por algum tempo. No mesmo instante Elimas sentiu uma nuvem escura cobrir os seus olhos e ele começou a se virar para todos os lados, procurando alguém que o guiasse pela mão.
12 Then the Deputie when he sawe what was done, beleeued, and was astonied at the doctrine of the Lord.
12 Quando o Governador viu isso, creu e ficou muito admirado com os ensinamentos a respeito do Senhor Jesus.
13 Nowe when Paul and they that were with him were departed by shippe from Paphus, they came to Perga a citie of Pamphylia: then Iohn departed from them, and returned to Hierusalem.
13 Paulo e os seus companheiros navegaram da cidade de Pafos até Perge, uma cidade da província da Panfília. Porém João Marcos os deixou e voltou para Jerusalém.
14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antiochia a citie of Pisidia, and went into the Synagogue on ye Sabbath day, and sate downe.
14 Eles continuaram a viagem, indo de Perge até a cidade de Antioquia, no distrito da Pisídia. No sábado entraram na sinagoga e sentaram-se.
15 And after the lecture of the Law and Prophets, the rulers of ye Synagogue sent vnto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye haue any word of exhortation for the people, say on.
15 Depois da leitura da Lei de Moisés e dos livros dos Profetas , os chefes da sinagoga mandaram dizer a eles: — Irmãos, se vocês têm alguma palavra para animar o povo, podem falar agora.
16 Then Paul stoode vp and beckened with the hand, and sayde, Men of Israel, and yee that feare God, hearken.
16 Então Paulo se levantou, fez um sinal com a mão, pedindo silêncio, e começou a dizer: — Homens de Israel e todos vocês não judeus que
17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt in the land of Egypt, and with an high arme brought them out thereof.
17 O Deus do povo de Israel escolheu os nossos antepassados quando moravam na terra do Egito e fez deles um grande povo. Ele os tirou de lá com grande poder
18 And about the time of fourtie yeeres, suffered he their maners in the wildernesse.
18 e, no deserto, aguentou aquela gente durante quarenta anos.
19 And he destroied seuen nations in the land of Chanaan, and deuided their lad to them by lot.
19 Ele destruiu sete povos na terra de Canaã, e o povo de Israel se tornou dono das terras deles.
20 Then afterward he gaue vnto them Iudges about foure hundreth and fiftie yeeres, vnto the time of Samuel the Prophet.
20 Tudo isso levou uns quatrocentos e cinquenta anos. — Depois disso Deus lhes deu juízes, até o tempo de Samuel.
21 So after that, they desired a King, and God gaue vnto them Saul, the sonne of Cis, a man of ye tribe of Beniamin, by the space of fourty yeres.
21 Quando o povo pediu um rei, ele lhes deu Saul, filho de Quis, da tribo de Benjamim, para ser rei deles durante quarenta anos.
22 And after he had taken him away, he raised vp Dauid to be their King, of whom he witnessed, saying, I haue found Dauid the sonne of Iesse, a man after mine owne heart, which will doe all things that I will.
22 Depois que tirou Saul, Deus pôs Davi como rei e disse isto a respeito dele: “Encontrei em Davi, filho de Jessé, o tipo de pessoa que eu quero e que vai fazer tudo o que eu desejo.”
23 Of this mans seede hath God according to his promise raised vp to Israel, ye Sauiour Iesus:
23 Um dos descendentes de Davi foi Jesus, a quem Deus pôs como Salvador de Israel, como havia prometido.
24 When Iohn had first preached before his coming the baptisme of repentance to all the people of Israel.
24 Antes da vinda de Jesus, João Batista anunciou a sua mensagem a todo o povo de Israel, dizendo que eles deviam se arrepender e ser batizados.
25 And when Iohn had fulfilled his course, he saide, Whom ye thinke that I am, I am not he: but beholde, there commeth one after me, whose shooe of his feete I am not worthy to loose.
25 Mas, quando João estava terminando a sua missão, disse ao povo: “Quem é que vocês pensam que eu sou? Eu não sou aquele que vocês estão esperando. Mas escutem! Ele vem depois de mim, porém eu não mereço a honra de tirar as sandálias dos pés dele.”
26 Yee men and brethren, children of the generation of Abraham, and whosoeuer among you feareth God, to you is the woorde of this saluation sent.
26 Paulo continuou: — Meus irmãos, descendentes de Abraão, e também vocês não judeus que temem a Deus, escutem! Essa mensagem de salvação foi mandada para todos nós.
27 For the inhabitants of Hierusalem, and their rulers, because they knewe him not, nor yet the woordes of the Prophets, which are read euery Sabbath day, they haue fulfilled them in condemning him.
27 De fato, os moradores de Jerusalém e os seus líderes não entenderam que Jesus é o Salvador. E também não compreenderam as palavras dos livros dos Profetas, que são lidos todos os sábados. Mesmo assim, ao condenarem Jesus, eles estavam cumprindo essas profecias .
28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate to kill him.
28 E, embora não encontrassem nenhuma razão para condená-lo à morte, pediram a Pilatos que mandasse matá-lo.
29 And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, they tooke him downe from the tree, and put him in a sepulchre.
29 Depois de fazerem tudo o que as Escrituras Sagradas falam a respeito dele, eles o tiraram da cruz e o puseram num túmulo.
30 But God raised him vp from the dead.
30 Mas Deus o ressuscitou,
31 And hee was seene many dayes of them, which came vp with him from Galile to Hierusalem, which are his witnesses vnto the people.
31 e durante muitos dias ele apareceu às pessoas que o tinham acompanhado da Galileia até Jerusalém. Agora essas pessoas são testemunhas que falam a respeito de Jesus ao povo de Israel.
32 And we declare vnto you, that touching the promise made vnto the fathers,
32 — E nós estamos aqui para trazer o evangelho a vocês.
33 God hath fulfilled it vnto vs their children, in that he raised vp Iesus, euen as it is written in the seconde Psalme, Thou art my Sonne: this day haue I begotten thee.
33 Deus fez agora para nós o que havia prometido aos nossos antepassados: ele ressuscitou Jesus, como está escrito no Salmo número dois: “Você é o meu Filho; hoje eu me tornei o seu Pai.”
34 Nowe as concerning that he raised him vp from the dead, no more to returne to corruption, he hath said thus, I wil giue you the holy things of Dauid, which are faithfull.
34 — E foi isto o que Deus disse a respeito da ressurreição de Jesus, afirmando que ele nunca seria destruído pela morte: “Eu vou dar a vocês as bênçãos sagradas e certas que prometi a Davi.”
35 Wherefore hee sayeth also in another place, Thou wilt not suffer thine Holy one to see corruption.
35 E em outra parte das Escrituras lemos também: “Tu não deixarás que o teu dedicado servo apodreça na sepultura.”
36 Howbeit, Dauid after hee had serued his time by the counsell of God, hee slept, and was laid with his fathers, and sawe corruption.
36 E Paulo disse ainda: — Na verdade, Davi, no seu tempo, cumpriu os planos de Deus. Depois morreu, foi sepultado ao lado dos seus antepassados e apodreceu na sepultura.
37 But he whom God raised vp, sawe no corruption.
37 Mas isso não aconteceu com aquele que Deus ressuscitou. Meus irmãos, todos vocês precisam saber com certeza que é por meio de Jesus que a mensagem do perdão de pecados é anunciada a vocês. Precisam saber também que quem crê é libertado de todos os pecados dos quais a Lei de Moisés não pode livrar.
38 Be it knowen vnto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached vnto you the forgiuenesse of sinnes.

39 And from al things, from which ye could not be iustified by the Law of Moses, by him euery one that beleeueth, is iustified.
39 — ausente —
40 Beware therefore lest that come vpon you, which is spoken of in the Prophets,
40 Portanto, tenham cuidado para que não aconteça o que os profetas disseram:
41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and vanish away: for I woorke a woorke in your daies, a woorke which yee shall not beleeue, if a man would declare it you.
41 “Prestem atenção, vocês que zombam de Deus! Fiquem espantados e morram. Pois o que vou fazer agora é uma coisa em que vocês não acreditariam, mesmo que alguém explicasse.”
42 And when they were come out of the Synagogue of the Iewes, the Gentiles besought, that they woulde preach these woordes to them the next Sabbath day.
42 Quando Paulo e Barnabé estavam saindo da reunião, as pessoas pediram com insistência que eles voltassem no sábado seguinte a fim de falarem sobre o mesmo assunto.
43 Nowe when the congregation was dissolued, many of the Iewes and Proselytes that feared God, followed Paul and Barnabas, which spake to them, and exhorted them to continue in the grace of God.
43 Depois da reunião, muitos judeus e outras pessoas convertidas ao Judaísmo acompanharam Paulo e Barnabé, que falavam com eles e animavam todos para que continuassem firmes na graça de Deus.
44 And ye next Sabbath day came almost the whole citie together, to heare the worde of God.
44 No sábado seguinte quase todos os moradores da cidade foram ouvir a palavra do Senhor.
45 But when the Iewes saw the people, they were full of enuie, and spake against those things, which were spoken of Paul, contrarying them, and railing on them.
45 Quando os judeus viram aquela multidão, ficaram com muita inveja. Então começaram a dizer o contrário do que Paulo dizia e o insultaram.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas spake boldly, and sayde, It was necessarie that the woorde of God shoulde first haue beene spoken vnto you: but seeing yee put it from you, and iudge your selues vnworthie of euerlasting life, loe, we turne to the Gentiles.
46 Porém Paulo e Barnabé falaram com mais coragem ainda. Eles disseram: — Era necessário que a palavra de Deus fosse anunciada primeiro a vocês que são judeus. Mas, como vocês não querem aceitá-la e acham que não merecem receber a vida eterna, então agora nós vamos anunciar a palavra aos não judeus.
47 For so hath the Lord commanded vs, saying, I haue made thee a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be the saluation vnto the end of the world.
47 Pois esta é a ordem que o Senhor Deus deu a nós, o seu povo: “Eu coloquei você como luz para os outros povos, a fim de que você leve a salvação ao mundo inteiro.”
48 And when the Gentiles heard it, they were glad, and glorified the woorde of the Lord: and as many as were ordeined vnto eternall life, beleeued.
48 Quando os não judeus ouviram isso, ficaram muito alegres e começaram a dizer que a palavra do Senhor era boa. E creram todos os que tinham sido escolhidos para ter a vida eterna.
49 Thus the worde of the Lord was published throughout the whole countrey.
49 A palavra do Senhor se espalhou por toda aquela região.
50 But the Iewes stirred certaine deuoute and honourable women, and the chiefe men of the citie, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coastes.
50 Mas os judeus atiçaram as mulheres não judias da alta sociedade convertidas ao Judaísmo e também os homens mais importantes da cidade. E começaram a perseguir Paulo e Barnabé e os expulsaram daquela região.
51 But they shooke off the dust of their feete against them, and came vnto Iconium.
51 Então os apóstolos sacudiram a poeira das suas sandálias, em sinal de protesto contra eles, e foram para a cidade de Icônio.
52 And the disciples were filled with ioy, and with the holy Ghost.
52 E os cristãos de Antioquia continuaram muito alegres e cheios do Espírito Santo.
