6 E o mestre do navio chegou-se a ele e disse-lhe: Que tens, dormente? Levanta-te, invoca o teu Deus; talvez assim Deus se lembre de nós para que não pereçamos.
7 Then|strong="H5307" the|strong="H0559" men|strong="H0376" said|strong="H0559" to|strong="H0413" each|strong="H0376" other|strong="H7453", “We should|strong="H0376" throw|strong="H5307" lots|strong="H1486" to|strong="H0413" find|strong="H3045" out|strong="H3045" why this|strong="H2063" is|strong="H4310" happening to|strong="H0413" us|strong="H0413".”
7 E dizia cada um ao seu companheiro: Vinde, e lancemos sortes, para que saibamos por que causa nos sobreveio este mal. E lançaram sortes, e a sorte caiu sobre Jonas.

Tell|strong="H5046" us|strong="H4994", what|strong="H4100" have|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0859" done|strong="H7451"? What|strong="H4100" is|strong="H0834" your|strong="H0834" job? Who|strong="H0834" are|strong="H0834" your|strong="H0834" people|strong="H5971"?”
8 Então, lhe disseram: Declara-nos tu, agora, por que razão nos sobreveio este mal. Que ocupação é a tua? E donde vens? Qual é a tua terra? E de que povo és tu?
9 Jonah said|strong="H0559" to|strong="H0413" them|strong="H0413", “I|strong="H0589" am|strong="H0589" a|strong="H0834" Hebrew|strong="H5680". I|strong="H0589" worship|strong="H3373" the|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068", the|strong="H0853" God|strong="H0430" of|strong="H0430" heaven|strong="H8064", who|strong="H0834" made|strong="H6213" the|strong="H0853" land|strong="H3004" and|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0853" sea|strong="H3220".”
9 E ele lhes disse: Eu sou hebreu e temo ao Senhor , o Deus do céu, que fez o mar e a terra seca.
10 Jonah told|strong="H5046" the|strong="H0559" men|strong="H0376" he|strong="H1931" was|strong="H3068" running away|strong="H1272" from|strong="H0376" the|strong="H0559" LORD|strong="H3068". The|strong="H0559" men|strong="H0376" became very|strong="H1419" afraid|strong="H3372" when|strong="H3588" they|strong="H1992" learned|strong="H3045" this|strong="H2063". They|strong="H1992" asked|strong="H0559" Jonah, “What|strong="H4100" terrible thing|strong="H2063" did|strong="H6213" you|strong="H3588" do|strong="H6213" against|strong="H0413" your|strong="H3068" God|strong="H3068"?”
10 Então, os homens se encheram de grande temor e lhe disseram: Por que fizeste tu isso? Pois sabiam os homens que fugia de diante do Senhor , porque ele lho tinha declarado.
11 The|strong="H0559" wind|strong="H5590" and|strong="H1980" the|strong="H0559" waves of|strong="H5921" the|strong="H0559" sea|strong="H3220" were|strong="H5921" becoming|strong="H1980" stronger and|strong="H1980" stronger. So|strong="H1980" the|strong="H0559" men|strong="H0559" said|strong="H0559" to|strong="H0413" Jonah, “What|strong="H4100" should|strong="H4100" we|strong="H3588" do|strong="H6213" to|strong="H0413" save ourselves? 11 E disseram-lhe: Que te faremos nós, para que o mar se acalme? Por que o mar se elevava e engrossava cada vez mais.

12 E ele lhes disse: Levantai-me e lançai-me ao mar, e o mar se aquietará; porque eu sei que, por minha causa, vos sobreveio esta grande tempestade.

The|strong="H5921" wind|strong="H5590" and|strong="H1980" the|strong="H5921" waves of|strong="H0376" the|strong="H5921" sea|strong="H3220" were|strong="H0376" too|strong="H5921" strong—and|strong="H1980" they|strong="H3588" were|strong="H0376" becoming|strong="H1980" stronger and|strong="H1980" stronger.
13 Entretanto, os homens remavam, esforçando-se por alcançar a terra, mas não podiam, porquanto o mar se ia embravecendo cada vez mais contra eles.
14 So|strong="H6213" the|strong="H0559" men|strong="H0376" cried|strong="H7121" to|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0559" LORD|strong="H3068", “LORD|strong="H3068", please|strong="H4994" don’t|strong="H0408" say|strong="H0559" we|strong="H3588" are|strong="H0834" guilty of|strong="H0376" killing|strong="H1818" an|strong="H5414" innocent|strong="H5355" man|strong="H0376". Please|strong="H4994" don’t|strong="H0408" make|strong="H5414" us|strong="H5414" die|strong="H0006" for|strong="H3588" killing|strong="H1818" him|strong="H0413". We|strong="H3588" know you|strong="H0859" are|strong="H0834" the|strong="H0559" LORD|strong="H3068", and|strong="H3068" you|strong="H0859" will|strong="H3068" do|strong="H6213" whatever|strong="H0834" you|strong="H0859" want|strong="H2654".”
14 Então, clamaram ao Senhor e disseram: Ah! Senhor ! Nós te rogamos! Não pereçamos por causa da vida deste homem, e não ponhas sobre nós o sangue inocente; porque tu, Senhor , fizeste como te aprouve.
15 So|strong="H5375" the|strong="H0853" men threw|strong="H2904" Jonah|strong="H3124" into|strong="H0413" the|strong="H0853" sea|strong="H3220". The|strong="H0853" storm stopped|strong="H5975", and|strong="H5975" the|strong="H0853" sea|strong="H3220" became calm.
15 E levantaram Jonas e o lançaram ao mar; e cessou o mar da sua fúria.
16 When|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0853" men|strong="H0376" saw this|strong="H3068", they|strong="H0376" began to|strong="H3068" fear|strong="H3372" and|strong="H3068" respect the|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068". They|strong="H0376" offered|strong="H2076" a|strong="H2076" sacrifice|strong="H2077" and|strong="H3068" made|strong="H5087" special promises to|strong="H3068" the|strong="H0853" LORD|strong="H3068".
16 Temeram, pois, estes homens ao Senhor com grande temor; e ofereceram sacrifícios ao Senhor e fizeram votos.
17 When Jonah fell into the sea, the LORD chose a very big fish to swallow Jonah. He was in the stomach of the fish for three days and three nights.
17 Deparou, pois, o Senhor um grande peixe, para que tragasse a Jonas; e esteve Jonas três dias e três noites nas entranhas do peixe.
