1 Then spake Iesus to the people and to his disciples
1 Então falou Jesus à multidão, e aos seus discípulos,
2 sayinge. The Scribes and the Pharises sit in Moses seate.
2 Dizendo: Na cadeira de Moisés estão assentados os escribas e fariseus.
3 All therfore whatsoever they byd you observe that observe and do: but after their workes do not: For they saye and do not.
3 Todas as coisas, pois, que vos disserem que observeis, observai-as e fazei-as; mas não procedais em conformidade com as suas obras, porque dizem e não fazem;
4 Ye and they bynde hevy burthes and grevous to be borne and ley the on menes shulders: but they themsylfes will not heave at them with one of their fyngers.
4 Pois atam fardos pesados e difíceis de suportar, e os põem aos ombros dos homens; eles, porém, nem com seu dedo querem movê-los;
5 All their workes they do for to be sene of me. They set abroade their philateries and make large borders on there garmetes
5 E fazem todas as obras a fim de serem vistos pelos homens; pois trazem largos filactérios, e alargam as franjas das suas vestes,
6 and love to sit vppermooste at feastes and to have the chefe seates in the synagoges
6 E amam os primeiros lugares nas ceias e as primeiras cadeiras nas sinagogas,
7 and gretinges in the marketes and to be called of men Rabi.
7 E as saudações nas praças, e o serem chamados pelos homens; Rabi, Rabi.
8 But ye shall not suffre youre selves to be called Rabi. For one is youre master that is to wyt Christ and all ye are brethren.
8 Vós, porém, não queirais ser chamados Rabi, porque um só é o vosso Mestre, a saber, o Cristo, e todos vós sois irmãos.
9 And call no man youre father vpon the erth for there is but one youre father and he is in heven.
9 E a ninguém na terra chameis vosso pai, porque um só é o vosso Pai, o qual está nos céus.
10 Be not called masters for there is but one youre master and he is Christ.
10 Nem vos chameis mestres, porque um só é o vosso Mestre, que é o Cristo.
11 He that is greatest amonge you shalbe youre seruaunte.
11 O maior dentre vós será vosso servo.
12 But whosoever exalteth himsilfe shalbe brought lowe. And he that hubleth himsilfe shalbe exalted.
12 E o que a si mesmo se exaltar será humilhado; e o que a si mesmo se humilhar será exaltado.
13 Wo be vnto you Scribes and Pharises ypocrites for ye shutte vp the kyngdome of heven before men: ye youre selves goo not in nether suffre ye them that come to enter in.
13 Mas ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! pois que fechais aos homens o reino dos céus; e nem vós entrais nem deixais entrar aos que estão entrando.
14 Wo be vnto you Scribes and Pharises ypocrites: ye devoure widdowes houses and that vnder a coloure of praying longe prayers: wherfore ye shall receave greater damnacion.
14 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! pois que devorais as casas das viúvas, sob pretexto de prolongadas orações; por isso sofrereis mais rigoroso juízo.
15 Wo be vnto you Scribes and Pharises ypocrites which compasse see and londe to bringe one in to youre belefe: and when he ys brought ye make him two folde more the chylde of hell then ye youre selves are.
15 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! pois que percorreis o mar e a terra para fazer um prosélito; e, depois de o terdes feito, o fazeis filho do inferno duas vezes mais do que vós.
16 Wo be vnto you blynd gides which saye whosoever sweare by the temple it is no thinge: but whosoever sweare by the golde of the temple he offendeth.
16 Ai de vós, condutores cegos! pois que dizeis: Qualquer que jurar pelo templo, isso nada é; mas o que jurar pelo ouro do templo, esse é devedor.
17 Ye foles and blinde? whether is greater the golde or the temple that sanctifieth the golde.
17 Insensatos e cegos! Pois qual é maior: o ouro, ou o templo, que santifica o ouro?
18 And whosoever sweareth by the aulter it is nothinge: but whosoever sweareth by the offeringe that lyeth on the aultre offendeth.
18 E aquele que jurar pelo altar isso nada é; mas aquele que jurar pela oferta que está sobre o altar, esse é devedor.
19 Ye foles and blinde: whether is greater the offeringe or the aultre which sanctifieth the offeringe?
19 Insensatos e cegos! Pois qual é maior: a oferta, ou o altar, que santifica a oferta?
20 Whosoever therfore sweareth by the aultre sweareth by it and by all that there on is.
20 Portanto, o que jurar pelo altar, jura por ele e por tudo o que sobre ele está;
21 And whosoever sweareth by the temple sweareth by it and by hym that dwelleth therin.
21 E, o que jurar pelo templo, jura por ele e por aquele que nele habita;
22 And he that sweareth by heven swereth by the seate of God and by hym that sytteth theron.
22 E, o que jurar pelo céu, jura pelo trono de Deus e por aquele que está assentado nele.
23 Wo be to you Scribes and Pharises ypocrites which tythe mynt annyse and comen and leave the waygthtyer mattres of the lawe vndone: iudgement mercy and fayth. These ought ye to have done and not to have left the othre vndone.
23 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! pois que dizimais a hortelã, o endro e o cominho, e desprezais o mais importante da lei, o juízo, a misericórdia e a fé; deveis, porém, fazer estas coisas, e não omitir aquelas.
24 Ye blinde gydes which strayne out a gnat and swalowe a cammyll.
24 Condutores cegos! que coais um mosquito e engulis um camelo.
25 Wo be to you scribes and pharises ypocrites which make clene the vtter syde of the cuppe and of the platter: but within they are full of brybery and excesse.
25 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! pois que limpais o exterior do copo e do prato, mas o interior está cheio de rapina e de intemperança.
26 Thou blinde Pharise clense fyrst the outsyde of the cup and platter that the ynneside of them maye be clene also.
26 Fariseu cego! limpa primeiro o interior do copo e do prato, para que também o exterior fique limpo.
27 Wo be to you Scribe and Pharises ypocrite for ye are lyke vnto paynted tombes which appere beautyfull outwarde: but are with in full of deed bones and of all fylthynes.
27 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! pois que sois semelhantes aos sepulcros caiados, que por fora realmente parecem formosos, mas interiormente estão cheios de ossos de mortos e de toda a imundícia.
28 So are ye for outwarde ye appere righteous vnto me when within ye are full of ypocrisie and iniquite.
28 Assim também vós exteriormente pareceis justos aos homens, mas interiormente estais cheios de hipocrisia e de iniqüidade.
29 Wo be vnto you Scribes and Pharises ypocrites: ye bylde the tombes of the Prophetes and garnisshe the sepulchres of the righteous
29 Ai de vós, escribas e fariseus, hipócritas! pois que edificais os sepulcros dos profetas e adornais os monumentos dos justos,
30 and saye: Yf we had bene in the dayes of oure fathers we wolde not have bene parteners with them in the bloud of the Prophetes.
30 E dizeis: Se existíssemos no tempo de nossos pais, nunca nos associaríamos com eles para derramar o sangue dos profetas.
31 So then ye be witnesses vnto youre selfes that ye are the chyldren of them which killed the prophetes.
31 Assim, vós mesmos testificais que sois filhos dos que mataram os profetas.
32 Fulfill ye lyke wyse the measure of youre fathers.
32 Enchei vós, pois, a medida de vossos pais.
33 Yee serpentes and generacion of vipers how shuld ye scape the dampnacion of hell?
33 Serpentes, raça de víboras! como escapareis da condenação do inferno?
34 Wherfore beholde I sende vnto you prophetes wyse men and scribes and of the ye shall kyll and crucifie: and of the ye shall scourge in youre synagoges and persecute from cyte to cyte
34 Portanto, eis que eu vos envio profetas, sábios e escribas; a uns deles matareis e crucificareis; e a outros deles açoitareis nas vossas sinagogas e os perseguireis de cidade em cidade;
35 that vpon you maye come all the righteous bloude that was sheed vpon the erth from the bloud of righteous Abell vnto the bloud of zacharias the sonne of Barachias who ye slewe betwene the temple and the altre.
35 Para que sobre vós caia todo o sangue justo, que foi derramado sobre a terra, desde o sangue de Abel, o justo, até ao sangue de Zacarias, filho de Baraquias, que matastes entre o santuário e o altar.
36 Verely I say vnto you all these thinges shall light vpon this generacion.
36 Em verdade vos digo que todas estas coisas hão de vir sobre esta geração.
37 Hierusalem hierusalem which kyllest prophetes and stonest the which are sent to the: how often wolde I have gadered thy chyldren to gether as the henne gadreth her chickes vnder her winges but ye wolde not:
37 Jerusalém, Jerusalém, que matas os profetas, e apedrejas os que te são enviados! quantas vezes quis eu ajuntar os teus filhos, como a galinha ajunta os seus pintos debaixo das asas, e tu não quiseste!
38 Beholde youre habitacion shalbe lefte vnto you desolate.
38 Eis que a vossa casa vai ficar-vos deserta;
39 For I saye to you ye shall not se me henceforthe tyll that ye saye: blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lorde.
39 Porque eu vos digo que desde agora me não vereis mais, até que digais: Bendito o que vem em nome do Senhor.
