1 These thinges have I sayde vnto you because ye shuld not be offended.
1 “Eu lhes digo estas coisas para que não desanimem da fé.
2 They shall excommunicat you: ye the tyme shall come that whosoever killeth you will thinke that he doth God service.
2 Pois vocês serão expulsos das sinagogas, e virá o tempo em que aqueles que os matarem pensarão que estão prestando um serviço sagrado a Deus.
3 And suche thinges will they do vnto you because they have not knowen the father nether yet me.
3 Farão isso porque nunca conheceram nem o Pai nem a mim.
4 But these thinges have I tolde you that when that houre is come ye myght remember them that I tolde you so. These thinges sayde I not unto you at the begynninge because I was present with you.
4 Sim, eu lhes digo estas coisas agora para que, quando elas acontecerem, vocês se lembrem de que os avisei. Eu não lhes disse antes porque ainda estaria com vocês mais um pouco.”
5 But now I goo my waye to him that sent me and none of you axeth me: whither goest thou?
5 “Agora, porém, vou para aquele que me enviou, e nenhum de vocês me pergunta para onde vou.
6 But because I have sayde suche thinges vnto you youre hertes are full of sorowe.
6 Em vez disso, entristecem-se por causa do que eu lhes disse.
7 Neverthelesse I tell you the trueth it is expedient for you that I goo awaye. For yf I goo not awaye that comforter will not come vnto you. But yf I departe I will sende him vnto you.
7 Mas, na verdade, é melhor para vocês que eu vá, pois, se eu não for, o Encorajador não virá. Se eu for, eu o enviarei a vocês.
8 And when he is come he will rebuke the worlde of synne and of rightwesnes and of iudgement.
8 Quando ele vier, convencerá o mundo do pecado, da justiça e do juízo.
9 Of synne because they beleve not on me:
9 Do pecado, porque o mundo se recusou a crer em mim;
10 Of rightwesnes because I go to my father and ye shall se me no moare:
10 da justiça, porque eu voltarei para o Pai e não me verão mais;
11 and of iudgement because the chefe ruler of this worlde is iudged all ready.
11 do juízo, porque o governante deste mundo já foi condenado.
12 I have yet many thinges to saye vnto you: but ye cannot beare them awaye now.
12 “Há tanta coisa que ainda quero lhes dizer, mas vocês não podem suportar agora.
13 How be it when he is come (I meane the sprete of truthe) he will leade yon into all trueth. He shall not speake of him selfe: but whatsoever he shall heare that shall he speake and he will shewe you thinges to come.
13 Quando vier o Espírito da verdade, ele os conduzirá a toda a verdade. Não falará por si mesmo, mas lhes dirá o que ouviu e lhes anunciará o que ainda está para acontecer.
14 He shall glorify me for he shall receave of myne and shall shewe vnto you.
14 Ele me glorificará porque lhes contará tudo que receber de mim.
15 All thinges that the father hath aremyne. Therfore sayd I vnto you that he shall take of myne and shewe vnto you.
15 Tudo que pertence ao Pai é meu; por isso eu disse: ‘O Espírito lhes contará tudo que receber de mim’.”
16 After a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: For I goo to the father.
16 “Mais um pouco e vocês não me verão mais; algum tempo depois, me verão novamente.”
17 Then sayd some of his disciples bitwene them selves: what is this that he sayth vnto vs after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: and that I go to the father.
17 Alguns dos discípulos perguntaram entre si: “O que ele quer dizer com ‘Mais um pouco e vocês não me verão’ e ‘algum tempo depois, me verão novamente’ e ‘vou para o Pai’?
18 They sayd therfore: what is this that he sayth after a whyle? we cannot tell what he sayth.
18 E o que ele quer dizer com ‘mais um pouco’? Não entendemos”.
19 Iesus perceaved that they wolde axe him and sayd vnto them: This is it that ye enquyre of bitwene youre selves that I sayd after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me.
19 Jesus, percebendo que desejavam lhe perguntar sobre essas coisas, disse: “Vocês perguntam entre si o que eu quis dizer quando falei: ‘Mais um pouco e vocês não me verão; algum tempo depois, me verão novamente’?
20 Verely verely I saye vnto you: ye shall wepe and lamet and the worlde shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe: but youre sorowe shalbe tourned to ioye.
20 Eu lhes digo a verdade: vocês chorarão e se lamentarão pelo que acontecerá comigo, mas o mundo se alegrará. Ficarão tristes, mas sua tristeza se transformará em alegria.
21 A woman when she traveyleth hath sorowe because her houre is come: but assone as she is delivered of the chylde she remembreth no moare the anguysshe for ioye that a man is borne in to the worlde.
21 No trabalho de parto, a mulher sente dores, mas, quando o bebê nasce, sua angústia dá lugar à alegria, pois ela trouxe ao mundo uma criança.
22 And ye now are in sorowe: but I will se you agayne and youre hertes shall reioyce and youre ioye shall no man take from you.
22 Da mesma forma, agora vocês estão tristes, mas eu os verei novamente; então se alegrarão e ninguém lhes poderá tirar essa alegria.
23 And in that daye shall ye axe me no question. Verely verely I saye vnto you whatsoever ye shall axe the father in my name he will geve it you.
23 Naquele dia, não terão necessidade de me perguntar coisa alguma. Eu lhes digo a verdade: vocês pedirão diretamente ao Pai e ele atenderá, porque pediram em meu nome.
24 Hitherto have ye axed nothinge in my name. Axe and ye shall receave it: that youre ioye maye be full.
24 Vocês nunca pediram desse modo. Peçam em meu nome e receberão, e terão alegria completa.
25 These thinges have I spoken vnto you in proverbes. The tyme will come when I shall no moare speake to you in proverbes: but I shall shewe you playnly from my father.
25 “Eu lhes falei destas coisas de maneira figurativa, mas em breve deixarei de usar esse tipo de linguagem e lhes falarei claramente a respeito do Pai.
26 At that daye shall ye axe in myne name. And I saye not vnto you that I will speake vnto my father for you.
26 Então vocês pedirão em meu nome. Não digo que pedirei ao Pai em seu favor,
27 For the father him selfe loveth you because ye have loved me and have beleved that I came out from God.
27 pois o próprio Pai os ama, porque vocês me amam e creem que eu vim de Deus.
28 I went out from the father and came into the worlde: and I leve the worlde agayne and go to the father.
28 Sim, eu vim do Pai e entrei no mundo, e agora deixo o mundo e volto para o Pai”.
29 His disciples sayd vnto him: loo now speakest thou playnly and thou vsest no proverbe.
29 Então os discípulos disseram: “Enfim o senhor fala claramente, e não de maneira figurativa.
30 Nowe knowe we that thou vnderstondest all thinges and nedest not that eny man shuld axe the eny question. Therfore beleve we that thou camst from god.
30 Agora entendemos que o senhor sabe todas as coisas e não há necessidade de lhe fazer perguntas. Por isso cremos que o senhor veio de Deus”.
31 Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleve.
31 Jesus disse: “Enfim vocês creem?
32 Beholde the houre draweth nye and is already come that ye shalbe scatered every man his wayes and shall leave me alone. And yet am I not alone. For the father is with me.
32 Mas se aproxima o tempo, e de fato já chegou, em que vocês serão espalhados; cada um seguirá seu caminho e me deixará sozinho. Mas não ficarei sozinho, porque o Pai está comigo.
33 These wordes have I spoke vnto you that in me ye might have peace. For in the worlde shall ye have tribulacion: but be of good cheare I have over come the worlde.
33 Eu lhes falei tudo isso para que tenham paz em mim. Aqui no mundo vocês terão aflições, mas animem-se, pois eu venci o mundo”.
