1 Fayth is a sure confidence of thynges which are hoped for and a certayntie of thynges which are not sene.
1 Ora, a fé é a certeza daquilo que esperamos e a prova das coisas que não vemos.
2 By it the elders were well reported of.
2 Pois foi por meio dela que os antigos receberam bom testemunho.
3 Thorow fayth we vnderstonde that the worlde was ordeyned by the worde of god: and that thynges which are sene were made of thynges which are not sene.
3 Pela fé entendemos que o universo foi formado pela palavra de Deus, de modo que o que se vê não foi feito do que é visível.
4 By fayth Abell offered vnto god a more plenteous sacrifice then Cayn: by which he obteyned witnes that he was righteous god testifyinge of his gyftes: by which also he beynge deed yet speaketh.
4 Pela fé Abel ofereceu a Deus um sacrifício superior ao de Caim. Pela fé ele foi reconhecido como justo, quando Deus aprovou as suas ofertas. Embora esteja morto, por meio da fé ainda fala.
5 By fayth was Enoch traslated that he shuld not se deeth: nether was he founde: for God had taken him awaye. Before he was taken awaye he was reported of that he had pleased God:
5 Pela fé Enoque foi arrebatado, de modo que não experimentou a morte; "ele já não foi encontrado porque Deus o havia arrebatado", pois antes de ser arrebatado recebeu testemunho de que tinha agradado a Deus.
6 but with out fayth it is vnpossible to please him. For he that commeth to God must beleve that God is and that he is a rewarder of them that seke him.
6 Sem fé é impossível agradar a Deus, pois quem dele se aproxima precisa crer que ele existe e que recompensa aqueles que o buscam.
7 By fayth Noe honored God after that he was warned of thinges which were not sene and prepared the arcke to the savinge of his houssholde thorowe the which arcke he condempned the worlde and became heyre of the rightewesnes which commeth by fayth.
7 Pela fé Noé, quando avisado a respeito de coisas que ainda não se viam, movido por santo temor, construiu uma arca para salvar sua família. Por meio da fé ele condenou o mundo e tornou-se herdeiro da justiça que é segundo a fé.
8 By fayth Abraham when he was called obeyed to goo out into a place which he shuld afterwarde receave to inheritaunce and he wet out not knowynge whether he shuld goo.
8 Pela fé Abraão, quando chamado, obedeceu e dirigiu-se a um lugar que mais tarde receberia como herança, embora não soubesse para onde estava indo.
9 By fayth he removed into the londe that was promysed him as into a straunge countre and dwelt in tabernacles: and so dyd Isaac and Iacob heyres with him of the same promes.
9 Pela fé peregrinou na terra prometida como se estivesse em terra estranha; viveu em tendas, bem como Isaque e Jacó, co-herdeiros da mesma promessa.
10 For he loked for a citie havinge a foundacion whose bylder and maker is God.
10 Pois ele esperava a cidade que tem alicerces, cujo arquiteto e edificador é Deus.
11 Thorow fayth Sara also receaved stregth to be with chylde and was delivered of a chylde when she was past age because she iudged him faythfull which had promysed.
11 Pela fé, Abraão — e também a própria Sara, apesar de estéril e avançada em idade — recebeu poder para gerar um filho, porque considerou fiel aquele que lhe havia feito a promessa.
12 And therfore spronge therof one (and of one which was as good as deed) so many in multitude as the starres of the skye and as the sond of the see shore which is innumerable.
12 Assim, daquele homem já sem vitalidade originaram-se descendentes tão numerosos como as estrelas do céu e tão incontáveis como a areia da praia do mar.
13 And they all dyed in fayth and receaved not the promyses: but sawe them a farre of and beleved them and saluted them: and confessed that they were straungers and pilgrems on the erthe.
13 Todos estes ainda viveram pela fé, e morreram sem receber o que tinha sido prometido; viram-nas de longe e de longe as saudaram, reconhecendo que eram estrangeiros e peregrinos na terra.
14 They that saye soche thinges declare that they seke a countre.
14 Os que assim falam mostram que estão buscando uma pátria.
15 Also yf they had bene myndfull of that countre from whence they came oute they had leasure to have returned agayne.
15 Se estivessem pensando naquela de onde saíram, teriam oportunidade de voltar.
16 But now they desyre a better that is to saye a hevenlye. Wherfore God is not ashamed of them even to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a citie.
16 Em vez disso, esperavam eles uma pátria melhor, isto é, a pátria celestial. Por essa razão Deus não se envergonha de ser chamado o Deus deles, pois preparou-lhes uma cidade.
17 In fayth Abraham offered vp Isaac when he was tempted and he offered him beinge his only begotten sonne which had receaved the promyses
17 Pela fé Abraão, quando Deus o pôs à prova, ofereceu Isaque como sacrifício. Aquele que havia recebido as promessas estava a ponto de sacrificar o seu único filho,
18 of whom it was sayde in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
18 embora Deus lhe tivesse dito: "Por meio de Isaque a sua descendência será considerada".
19 for he considered that God was able to rayse vp agayne from deeth. Wherfore receaved he him for an ensample.
19 Abraão levou em conta que Deus pode ressuscitar os mortos; e, figuradamente, recebeu Isaque de volta dentre os mortos.
20 In fayth Isaac blessed Iacob and Esau concerninge thinges to come.
20 Pela fé Isaque abençoou Jacó e Esaú com respeito ao futuro deles.
21 By fayth Iacob when he was a dyinge blessed both the sonnes of Ioseph and bowed him selfe towarde the toppe of his cepter.
21 Pela fé Jacó, à beira da morte, abençoou cada um dos filhos de José e adorou a Deus, apoiado na extremidade do seu bordão.
22 By fayth Ioseph when he dyed remembred the departinge of the chyldren of Israel and gave commaundement of his bones.
22 Pela fé José, no fim da vida, fez menção do êxodo dos israelitas do Egito e deu instruções acerca dos seus próprios ossos.
23 By fayth Moses when he was borne was hid thre monethes of his father and mother be cause they sawe he was a proper chylde: nether feared they the kynges commaundement.
23 Pela fé Moisés, recém-nascido, foi escondido durante três meses por seus pais, pois estes viram que ele não era uma criança comum, e não temeram o decreto do rei.
24 By fayth Moses when he was great refused to be called the sonne of Pharaos doughter
24 Pela fé Moisés, já adulto, recusou ser chamado filho da filha do faraó,
25 and chose rather to suffre adversitie with the people of God then to enioye the pleasurs of synne for a ceason
25 preferindo ser maltratado com o povo de Deus a desfrutar os prazeres do pecado durante algum tempo.
26 and estemed the rebuke of Christ greater ryches then the treasure of Egypt. For he had a respect vnto the rewarde.
26 Por amor de Cristo, considerou a desonra riqueza maior do que os tesouros do Egito, porque contemplava a sua recompensa.
27 By fayth he forsoke Egypt and feared not the fearcenes of the kynge. For he endured even as he had sene him which is invisible.
27 Pela fé saiu do Egito, não temendo a ira do rei, e perseverou, porque via aquele que é invisível.
28 Thorow fayth he ordeyned the ester lambe and the effusion of bloud lest he that destroyed the fyrst borne shuld touche them.
28 Pela fé celebrou a Páscoa e fez a aspersão do sangue, para que o destruidor não tocasse nos fihos mais velhos dos israelitas.
29 By fayth they passed thorow the reed see as by drye londe which when the Egypcians had assayed to do they were drouned.
29 Pela fé o povo atravessou o mar Vermelho como em terra seca; mas, quando os egípcios tentaram fazê-lo, morreram afogados.
30 By fayth the walles of Ierico fell doune after they were compased about seven dayes.
30 Pela fé caíram os muros de Jericó, depois de serem rodeados durante sete dias.
31 By fayth the harlot Raab perisshed not with the vnbelevers when she had receaved the spyes to lodgynge peaseably.
31 Pela fé a prostituta Raabe, por ter acolhido os espiões, não foi morta com os que haviam sido desobedientes.
32 And what shall I more saye the tyme wold be to short for me to tell of Gedeo of Barach and of Samson and of Iephthae: also of David and Samuel and of the Prophetes:
32 Que mais direi? Não tenho tempo para falar de Gideão, Baraque, Sansão, Jefté, Davi, Samuel e os profetas,
33 which thorowe fayth subdued kyngdomes wrought righteousnes obteyned the promyses stopped the mouthes of lyons
33 os quais pela fé conquistaram reinos, praticaram a justiça, alcançaram o cumprimento de promessas, fecharam a boca de leões,
34 quenched the violence of fyre escaped the edge of the swearde of weake were made stroge waxed valient in fight turned to flyght the armyes of the alientes.
34 apagaram o poder do fogo e escaparam do fio da espada; da fraqueza tiraram força, tornaram-se poderosos na batalha e puseram em fuga exércitos estrangeiros.
35 And the wemen receaved their deed raysed to lyfe agayne. Other were racked and wolde not be delyvered that they myght receave a better resurreccion.
35 Houve mulheres que, pela ressurreição, tiveram de volta os seus mortos. Alguns foram torturados e recusaram ser libertados, para poderem alcançar uma ressurreição superior.
36 Other tasted of mockynges and scourginginges morover of bondes and presonment:
36 Outros enfrentaram zombaria e açoites, outros ainda foram acorrentados e colocados na prisão,
37 were stoned were hewen a sunder were tepted were slayne with sweardes walked vppe and doune in shepes skynnes in gotes skynnes in nede tribulacion and vexacion
37 apedrejados, serrados ao meio, postos à prova, mortos ao fio da espada. Andaram errantes, vestidos de pele de ovelhas e de cabras, necessitados, afligidos e maltratados.
38 which the worlde was not worthy of: they wadred in wildernes in moutaynes in dennes and caves of the erth.
38 O mundo não era digno deles. Vagaram pelos desertos e montes, pelas cavernas e grutas.
39 And these all thorow fayth obtayned good reporte and receaved not the promes
39 Todos estes receberam bom testemunho por meio da fé; no entanto, nenhum deles recebeu o que havia sido prometido.
40 God provydinge a better thinge for vs that they with out vs shuld not be made parfecte.
40 Deus havia planejado algo melhor para nós, para que conosco fossem eles aperfeiçoados.
