1 Then .xiiii. yeares after that I wet vp agayne to Ierusalem with Barnabas and toke with me Titus also.
1 Catorze anos mais tarde, subi outra vez a Jerusalém com Barnabé, levando também Tito comigo.
2 Ye and I went vp by revelacion and comened with them of the Gospell which I preache amonge the gentyls: but apart with them which were counted chefe lest it shuld have bene thought that I shuld runne or had runne in vayne.
2 E subi em conseqüência de uma revelação. Expus-lhes o Evangelho que prego entre os pagãos, e isso particularmente aos que eram de maior consideração, a fim de não correr ou de não ter corrido em vão.
3 Also Titus which was with me though he were a Greke yet was not compelled to be circumcised
3 Entretanto, nem sequer meu companheiro Tito, embora gentio, foi obrigado a circuncidar-se.
4 and that because of incommers beynge falce brethren which came in amonge other to spye out oure libertie which we have in Christ Iesus that they might bringe vs into bondage.
4 Mas, por causa dos falsos irmãos, intrusos - que furtivamente se introduziram entre nós para espionar a liberdade de que gozávamos em Cristo Jesus, a fim de nos escravizar -,
5 To whom we gave no roume no not for the space of an houre as concerninge to be brought into subieccion: and that because that the trueth of the gospell myght continue with you.
5 fomos, por esta vez, condescendentes, para que o Evangelho permanecesse em sua integridade.
6 Of the which seme to be great (what they were in tyme passed it maketh no matter to me: God loketh on no mans person) neverthelesse they which seme great added nothynge to me.
6 Quanto aos que eram de autoridade - o que antes tenham sido não me importa, pois Deus não se deixa levar por consideração de pessoas -, estas autoridades, digo, nada me impuseram.
7 But contrary wyse when they sawe that the gospell over the vncircumcision was committed vnto me as the gospell over the circucision was vnto Peter:
7 Ao contrário, viram que a evangelização dos incircuncisos me era confiada, como a dos circuncisos a Pedro
8 for he that was myghty in Peter in the Apostleshippe over the circumcision the same was myghty in me amonge the gentyls:
8 {porque aquele cuja ação fez de Pedro o apóstolo dos circuncisos, fez também de mim o dos pagãos}.
9 and therfore when they perceaved the grace that was geve vnto me then Iames Cephas and Iohn which semed to be pilers gave to me and Barnabas the ryght hondes and agreed with vs that we shuld preache amonge the Hethen and they amonge the Iewes:
9 Tiago, Cefas e João, que são considerados as colunas, reconhecendo a graça que me foi dada, deram as mãos a mim e a Barnabé em sinal de pleno acordo:
10 warnynge only that we shulde remember the poore. Which thinge also I was diligent to do.
10 iríamos aos pagãos, e eles aos circuncidados. Recomendaram-nos apenas que nos lembrássemos dos pobres, o que era precisamente a minha intenção.
11 And when Peter was come to Antioche I withstode him in the face for he was worthy to be blamed.
11 Quando, porém, Cefas veio a Antioquia, resisti-lhe francamente, porque era censurável.
12 For yerr that certayne came from Iames he ate with the gentyls. But when they were come he withdrue and separated him selfe fearinge them which were of the circumcision.
12 Pois, antes de chegarem alguns homens da parte de Tiago, ele comia com os pagãos convertidos. Mas, quando aqueles vieram, retraiu-se e separou-se destes, temendo os circuncidados.
13 And the other Iewes dissembled lyke wyse in so moche that Barnabas was brought into their simulacion also.
13 Os demais judeus convertidos seguiram-lhe a atitude equívoca, de maneira que mesmo Barnabé foi levado por eles a essa dissimulação.
14 But when I sawe that they went not the ryght waye after the trueth of the gospell I sayde vnto Peter before all men yf thou beynge a Iewe livest after the maner of the gentyls and not as do the Iewes: why causest thou the getyls to live as do the Iewes?
14 Quando vi que o seu procedimento não era segundo a verdade do Evangelho, disse a Cefas, em presença de todos: Se tu, que és judeu, vives como os gentios, e não como os judeus, com que direito obrigas os pagãos convertidos a viver como os judeus?
15 We which are Iewes by nature and not synners of the gentyls,
15 Nós, judeus de nascença, e não pecadores dentre os pagãos,
16 knowe that a man is not iustified by the dedes of the lowe: but by the fayth of Iesus Christ. And therfore we have beleved on Iesus Christ that we myght be iustified by the fayth of Christ and uot by the dedes of the lawe: because that by the dedes of the lawe no flesshe shalbe iustified.
16 sabemos, contudo, que ninguém se justifica pela prática da lei, mas somente pela fé em Jesus Cristo. Também nós cremos em Jesus Cristo, e tiramos assim a nossa justificação da fé em Cristo, e não pela prática da lei. Pois, pela prática da lei, nenhum homem será justificado.
17 Yf then whill we seke to be made rightewes by Christ we oure selves are founde synners is not then Christ the minister of synne? God forbyd.
17 Pois, se nós, que aspiramos à justificação em Cristo, retornamos, todavia, ao pecado, seria porventura Cristo ministro do pecado? Por certo que não!
18 For yf I bylde agayne that which I destroyed. then make I my selfe a treaspaser.
18 Se torno a edificar o que destruí, confesso-me transgressor.
19 But I thorow the lawe amen deed to the lawe: that I myght live vnto God.
19 Na realidade, pela fé eu morri para a lei, a fim de viver para Deus. Estou pregado à cruz de Cristo.
20 I am crucified with Christ. I live verely: yet now not I but Christ liveth in me. For the lyfe which I now live in the flesshe I live by the fayth of the sonne of God which loved me and gave him selne for me.
20 Eu vivo, mas já não sou eu; é Cristo que vive em mim. A minha vida presente, na carne, eu a vivo na fé no Filho de Deus, que me amou e se entregou por mim.
21 I despyse not the grace of God. For if rightewesnes come of the lawe then Christ dyed in vayne.
21 Não menosprezo a graça de Deus; mas, em verdade, se a justiça se obtém pela lei, Cristo morreu em vão.
