1 Saul had pleasure in his deeth. And at that tyme there was a great persecucion agaynst the congregacion which was at Ierusalem and they were all scattered abroade thorowout the regions of Iury and Samaria except the Apostles.
1 E Saulo consentia na morte de Estêvão. Naquele dia, teve início uma grande perseguição contra a igreja em Jerusalém. Todos, exceto os apóstolos, foram dispersos pelas regiões da Judeia e da Samaria.
2 Then devout men dressed Steven and made great lamentacion over him.
2 Alguns homens piedosos sepultaram Estêvão e fizeram grande lamentação por ele.
3 But Saul made havocke of the congregacion entrynge into every housse and drewe out bothe man and woman and thrust the into preson.
3 Saulo, porém, queria destruir a igreja. Indo de casa em casa, arrastava homens e mulheres, lançando-os na prisão.
4 They that were scattered abroade went every where preachyng the worde.
4 Enquanto isso, os que foram dispersos iam por toda parte pregando a palavra.
5 Then came Philip into a cite of Samaria and preached Christ vnto them.
5 Filipe foi à cidade de Samaria e anunciava Cristo ao povo dali.
6 And the people gave hede vnto those thinges which Philip spake with one acorde in that they hearde and sawe the miracles which he dyd.
6 As multidões, unânimes, davam atenção às coisas que Filipe dizia, ouvindo-as e vendo os sinais que ele fazia.
7 For vnclene spretes cryinge with loude voyce came out of many that were possessed of them. And manye taken with palsies and many that halted were healed
7 Pois os espíritos imundos, gritando em alta voz, saíam de muitos que estavam possuídos por eles; e muitos paralíticos e coxos foram curados.
8 And ther was great ioye in that cite.
8 E houve grande alegria naquela cidade.
9 And ther was a certayne man called Simon which before tyme in the same cite vsed witche crafte and bewitched the people of Samarie sayinge that he was a man that coulde do greate thinges
9 Havia naquela cidade um homem chamado Simão, que praticava artes mágicas e deixava o povo de Samaria admirado. Dizia ser alguém muito importante,
10 Whom they regarded from the lest to the greatest sayinge: this felow is the great power of God.
10 e todos lhe davam ouvidos, do menor ao maior, dizendo: — Este homem é o poder de Deus, chamado “o Grande Poder”.
11 And him they set moche by because of longe tyme with sorcery he had mocked them.
11 Davam atenção a ele porque durante muito tempo os havia impressionado com as suas artes mágicas.
12 But assone as they beleved Philippes preachynge of the kyngdome of God and of the name of Iesu Christ they were baptised bothe men and wemen.
12 Quando, porém, deram crédito a Filipe, que os evangelizava a respeito do Reino de Deus e do nome de Jesus Cristo, iam sendo batizados, tanto homens como mulheres.
13 Then Simon him selfe beleved also and was baptised and cotinued with Phillip and wondered beholdynge the miracles and signes which were shewed.
13 O próprio Simão abraçou a fé e, tendo sido batizado, acompanhava Filipe de perto, observando extasiado os sinais e grandes milagres praticados.
14 When the Apostles which were at Ierusalem hearde saye that Samaria had receaved the worde of God: they sent vnto them Peter and Iohn
14 Quando os apóstolos, que estavam em Jerusalém, ouviram que o povo de Samaria tinha recebido a palavra de Deus, enviaram-lhes Pedro e João.
15 which when they were come prayed for the that they myght receave the holy goost
15 Chegando ali, oraram por eles para que recebessem o Espírito Santo,
16 For as yet he was come on none of them: But they were baptised only in the name of Christ Iesu.
16 pois o Espírito ainda não havia descido sobre nenhum deles. Tinham apenas sido batizados em nome do Senhor Jesus.
17 Then layde they their hondes on them and they receaved the holy goost.
17 Então lhes impuseram as mãos, e eles receberam o Espírito Santo.
18 When Simon sawe that thorowe layinge on of the Apostles hondes on them the holy goost was geven: he offered the money sayinge:
18 Quando Simão viu que, pelo fato de os apóstolos imporem as mãos, era concedido o Espírito Santo, ofereceu-lhes dinheiro,
19 Geve me also this power that on whom soever I put the hondes he maye receave the holy goost.
19 dizendo: — Deem também a mim este poder, para que a pessoa sobre a qual eu impuser as mãos receba o Espírito Santo.
20 Then sayde Peter vnto him: thy monye perysh with the because thou wenest that the gifte of God maye be obteyned with money.
20 Mas Pedro respondeu: — Que o seu dinheiro seja destruído junto com você, pois você pensou que com ele poderia adquirir o dom de Deus!
21 Thou hast nether parte nor felloushippe in this busines. For thy hert is not ryght in the syght of God.
21 Não existe porção nem parte para você neste ministério, porque o seu coração não é reto diante de Deus.
22 Repent therfore of this thy wickednes and praye God that the thought of thyne hert maye be forgeven the.
22 Portanto, arrependa-se desse mal e ore ao Senhor. Talvez ele o perdoe por esse intento do seu coração.
23 For I perceave that thou arte full of bitter gall and wrapped in iniquite.
23 Pois vejo que você está cheio de inveja e preso em sua maldade.
24 Then answered Simon and sayde: Praye ye to the lorde for me that none of these thinges whiche ye have spoken fall on me.
24 Simão disse aos apóstolos: — Peço que vocês orem ao Senhor por mim, para que não me sobrevenha nada do que vocês disseram.
25 And they when they had testified and preached the worde of the lorde returned toward Ierusalem and preached the gospell in many cities of the Samaritas.
25 Eles, porém, tendo dado o seu testemunho e pregado a palavra do Senhor, voltaram para Jerusalém e evangelizavam muitas aldeias dos samaritanos.
26 Then the angell of the lorde spake vnto Phillip sayinge: aryse and goo towardes mydde daye vnto the waye with goeth doune from Ierusalem vnto Gaza which is in the desert.
26 Um anjo do Senhor disse a Filipe: — Levante-se e vá para o Sul, no caminho que desce de Jerusalém a Gaza; este se acha deserto.
27 And he arose and wet on. And beholde a man of Ethiopia which was a chaberlayne and of grete auctorite with Candace quene of the Ethiopias and had the rule of all her treasure came to Ierusalem for to praye.
27 Filipe se levantou e foi. Havia um etíope, eunuco, alto oficial de Candace, rainha dos etíopes, o qual era superintendente de todo o seu tesouro. Ele tinha vindo adorar em Jerusalém
28 And as he returned home agayne sittynge in his charet he rede Esay the prophet.
28 e estava regressando ao seu país. E, assentado na sua carruagem, vinha lendo o profeta Isaías.
29 Then the sprete sayde vnto Phillip: Goo neare and ioyne thy selfe to yonder charet.
29 Então o Espírito disse a Filipe: — Aproxime-se dessa carruagem e acompanhe-a.
30 And Philip ranne to him and hearde him rede the prophet Esayas and sayde: Vnderstondest thou what thou redest?
30 Correndo para lá, Filipe ouviu que o homem estava lendo o profeta Isaías. Então perguntou: — O senhor entende o que está lendo?
31 And he sayd: how can I except I had a gyde? And he desyred Philip that he wold come vp and sit with him.
31 Ele respondeu: — Como poderei entender, se ninguém me explicar? E convidou Filipe a subir e sentar-se ao seu lado.
32 The tenoure of the scripture which he redde was this. He was ledde as a shepe to be slayne: and lyke a lambe dome before his sherer so opened he not his mouth.
32 Ora, a passagem da Escritura que ele estava lendo era esta: “Foi levado como ovelha ao matadouro; e, como um cordeiro mudo diante do seu tosquiador, ele não abriu a boca.
33 Because of his humblenes he was not estemed: who shall declare his generacion? for his lyfe is taken from the erthe.
33 Na sua humilhação, lhe negaram justiça; quem poderá falar da sua descendência? Porque a vida dele é tirada da terra.”
34 The chamberlayne answered Philip and sayde: I praye the of whom speaketh the Prophet this? of him selfe or of some other man?
34 Então o eunuco disse a Filipe: — Peço que você me explique a quem se refere o profeta. Fala de si mesmo ou de outra pessoa?
35 And Philip opened his mouth and beganne at the same scripture and preached vnto him Iesus.
35 Então Filipe explicou. E, começando com esta passagem da Escritura, anunciou-lhe a mensagem de Jesus.
36 And as they went on their waye they came vnto a certayne water and the chamberlayne sayde: Se here is water what shall let me to be baptised?
36 Seguindo pelo caminho, chegaram a certo lugar onde havia água. Então o eunuco disse: — Eis aqui água. O que impede que eu seja batizado?
37 Philip sayde vnto him: Yf thou beleve with all thyne hert thou mayst. He answered and sayde: I beleve that Iesus Christe is the sonne of God.
37 [Filipe respondeu: — É lícito, se você crê de todo o coração. Então ele disse: — Creio que Jesus Cristo é o Filho de Deus.]
38 And he commaunded the charet to stonde still. And they went doune bothe into the water: bothe Philip and also the chamberlayne and he baptised him.
38 Então mandou parar a carruagem, ambos desceram à água, e Filipe batizou o eunuco.
39 And assone as they were come out of the water the sprete of the lorde caught awaye Philip that the chamberlayne sawe him no moore. And he wet on his waye reioysinge:
39 Quando saíram da água, o Espírito do Senhor arrebatou Filipe, e o eunuco não o viu mais; e este foi seguindo o seu caminho, cheio de alegria.
40 but Philip was founde at Azotus. And he walked thorow out the countre preachynge in their cities tyll he came to Cesarea.
40 Mas Filipe foi visto outra vez em Azoto; e, seguindo viagem, evangelizava todas as cidades até chegar a Cesareia.
