1 After .v. dayes Ananias the hye preste descended with elders and with a certayne Oratour named Tartullus and enformed the ruelar of Paul.
1 Cinco dias depois, o sumo sacerdote Ananias desceu a Cesaréia com alguns dos líderes dos judeus e um advogado chamado Tértulo, os quais apresentaram ao governador suas acusações contra Paulo.
2 When Paul was called forth Tartullus beganne to accuse him saying: Seynge that we live in great quyetnes by the meanes of the and that many good thinges are done vnto this nacion thorow thy providence:
2 Quando Paulo foi chamado, Tértulo apresentou sua causa a Félix: "Temos desfrutado de um longo período de paz durante o teu governo, e o teu providente cuidado resultou em reformas nesta nação.
3 that alowe we ever and in all places most myghty Felix with all thankes.
3 Em tudo e em toda parte, excelentíssimo Félix, reconhecemos estes benefícios com profunda gratidão.
4 Notwithstondinge that I be not tedeous vnto the I praye the that thou woldest heare vs of thy curtesy a feawe wordes.
4 Todavia, a fim de não tomar-te mais tempo, peço-te o favor de ouvir-nos apenas por um pouco.
5 We have founde this man a pestilent felowe and a mover of debate vnto all the Iewes thorowe out the worlde and a mayntayner of the secte of the Nazarites
5 "Verificamos que este homem é um perturbador, que promove tumultos entre os judeus pelo mundo todo. Ele é o principal cabeça da seita dos nazarenos
6 and hath also enforsed to pollute the temple. Whom we toke and wolde have iudged acordinge to oure lawe:
6 e tentou até mesmo profanar o templo; então o prendemos e quisemos julgá-lo segundo a nossa lei.
7 but the hye captayne Lisias came vpon vs and with great violence toke him awaye out of oure hodes
7 Mas o comandante Lísias interveio, e com muita força o arrebatou de nossas mãos e ordenou que os seus acusadores se apresentassem.
8 commaundinge his accusars to come vnto the. Of who thou mayst (yf thou wilt enquyre) knowe the certayne of all these thinges where of we accuse him.
8 Se tu mesmo o interrogares, poderás verificar a verdade a respeito de todas estas acusações que estamos fazendo contra ele".
9 The Iewes lyke wyse affermed sayinge that it was even so.
9 Os judeus confirmaram a acusação, garantindo que as afirmações eram verdadeiras.
10 Then Paul (after that the rular him selfe had beckened vnto him that he shuld speake) answered: I shall with a moare quyet minde answere for my selfe for as moche as I vnderstonde that thou hast bene of many yeares a iudge vnto this people
10 Quando o governador lhe deu sinal para que falasse, Paulo declarou: "Sei que há muitos anos tens sido juiz nesta nação; por isso, de bom grado faço minha defesa.
11 because that thou mayst knowe that there are yet .xii. dayes sence I went vp to Ierusalem for to praye
11 Facilmente poderás verificar que há menos de doze dias subi a Jerusalém para adorar a Deus.
12 and that they nether founde me in the temple disputinge with eny man other raysinge vp the people nether in the Synagoges nor in the cite.
12 Meus acusadores não me encontraram discutindo com ninguém no templo, nem incitando uma multidão nas sinagogas ou em qualquer outro lugar na cidade.
13 Nether can they prove the thinges wher of they accuse me.
13 Nem tampouco podem provar-te as acusações que agora estão levantando contra mim.
14 But this I confesse vnto the that after that waye (which they call heresy) so worshippe I the God of my fathers belevinge all thinges which are writte in the lawe and the Prophetes
14 Confesso-te, porém, que adoro o Deus dos nossos antepassados como seguidor do Caminho, a que chamam seita. Creio em tudo o que concorda com a Lei e no que está escrito nos Profetas,
15 and have hope towardes God that the same resurreccion from deeth (which they them selves loke for also) shalbe both of iust and vniust.
15 e tenho em Deus a mesma esperança desses homens: de que haverá ressurreição tanto de justos como de injustos.
16 And therfore stody I to have a cleare consciece towarde God and toward man also.
16 Por isso procuro sempre conservar minha consciência limpa diante de Deus e dos homens.
17 But after many yeres I came and brought almes to my people and offeringes in the which they founde me purified in the temple nether with multitude nor yet with vnquyetnes.
17 "Depois de estar ausente por vários anos, vim a Jerusalém para trazer esmolas ao meu povo e apresentar ofertas.
18 Howbeit there were certayne Iewes out of Asia
18 Enquanto fazia isso, já cerimonialmente puro, encontraram-me no templo, sem envolver-me em nenhum ajuntamento ou tumulto.
19 which ought to be here present before the and accuse me yf they had ought agaynst me:
19 Mas há alguns judeus da província da Ásia que deveriam estar aqui diante de ti e apresentar acusações, se é que têm algo contra mim.
20 or els let these same here saye if they have founde eny evyll doinge in me whill I stonde here in the counsell:
20 Ou os que aqui se acham deveriam declarar que crime encontraram em mim quando fui levado perante o Sinédrio,
21 except it be for this one voyce that I cryed stondinge amonge the of the resurreccion from deeth am I iudged of you this daye.
21 a não ser que tenha sido este: quando me apresentei a eles, bradei: Por causa da ressurreição dos mortos estou sendo julgado hoje diante de vocês".
22 When Felix hearde these thinges he deferde them for he knewe very well of that waye and sayde: when Lisias the captayne is come I will know the vtmost of youre matters.
22 Então Félix, que tinha bom conhecimento do Caminho, adiou a causa e disse: "Quando chegar o comandante Lísias, decidirei o caso de vocês".
23 And he commaunded an vndercaptayne to kepe Paul and that he shuld have rest and that he shuld forbyd none of his aquayntauce to minister vnto him or to come vnto him.
23 E ordenou ao centurião que mantivesse Paulo sob custódia, mas que lhe desse certa liberdade e permitisse que os seus amigos o servissem.
24 And after a certayne dayes came Felix and his wyfe Drusilla which was a Iewas and called forth Paul and hearde him of the fayth which is toward Christ.
24 Vários dias depois, Félix veio com Drusila sua mulher, que era judia, mandou chamar Paulo e o ouviu falar sobre a fé em Cristo Jesus.
25 And as he preached of righteousnes temperaunce and iudgement to come Felix trembled and answered: thou hast done ynough at this tyme departe when I have a conveniet tyme I will sende for the.
25 Quando Paulo se pôs a discorrer acerca da justiça, do domínio próprio e do juízo vindouro, Félix teve medo e disse: "Basta, por enquanto! Pode sair. Quando achar conveniente, mandarei chamá-lo de novo".
26 He hoped also that money shuld have bene geven him of Paul that he myght lowse him: wherfore he called him the oftener and comened with him.
26 Ao mesmo tempo esperava que Paulo lhe oferecesse algum dinheiro, pelo que mandava buscá-lo freqüentemente e conversava com ele.
27 But after two yeare Festus Porcius came into Felix roume. And Felix willinge to shewe the Iewes a pleasure lefte Paul in preson bounde.
27 Passados dois anos, Félix foi sucedido por Pórcio Festo; todavia, porque desejava manter a simpatia dos judeus, Félix deixou Paulo na prisão.
