1 This is the seconde pistle that I now wryte vnto you beloved wherwith I stere vp and warne youre pure myndes
1 Esta segunda carta, amados, escrevo-vos agora, em ambas as quais desperto vossas mentes puras por meio de recordações.
2 to call to remembraunce the wordes which were tolde before of the holy prophetes and also the commaundement of vs the apostles of the lorde and saveour.
2 Para que vos lembreis das palavras que foram ditas antes pelos santos profetas, e do nosso mandamento, os apóstolos do Senhor e Salvador.
3 This fyrst vnderstode that ther shall come in the last dayes mockers which will walke after their awne lustes
3 Sabendo disto primeiro, que virão, nos últimos dias, escarnecedores, andando conforme as suas próprias concupiscências,
4 and saye. Where is the promes of his comynge? For sence the fathers dyed all thinges cotinue in the same estate wher in they were at the begynninge.
4 e dizendo: Onde está a promessa da sua vinda? Porque desde que os pais dormiram, todas as coisas continuam como eram desde o princípio da criação.
5 This they knowe not (and that willyngly) how that the hevens a great whyle ago were and the erth that was in the water appered vp out of the water by the worde of god:
5 E nisto eles são voluntariamente ignorantes, que pela palavra de Deus os céus existiam desde a antiguidade, e a terra, que permanece fora da água e dentro da água.
6 by the which thinges the worlde that then was perisshed over flowen with the water.
6 Por onde o mundo que estava então, sendo transbordado com água, pereceu.
7 But the heves verely and erth which are now are kept by the same worde in store and reserved vnto fyre agaynst the daye of iudgement and perdicion of vngodly men.
7 Mas os céus e a terra, que existem agora, pela mesma palavra estão reservados para o fogo, até o dia do juízo, e da perdição dos homens ímpios.
8 Derely beloved be not ignorant of this one thynge how that one daye is with the lorde as a thousande yeare and a thousand yeare as one daye.
8 Mas, amados, não ignoreis uma coisa, que um dia é para o Senhor como mil anos, e mil anos como um dia.
9 The lorde is not slacke to fulfill his promes as some men count slacknes: but is pacient to vs warde and wolde have no man lost but wolde receave all men to repentaunce.
9 O Senhor não é tardio a respeito de sua promessa, ainda que alguns homens a têm por tardia; mas é longânimo para conosco, não querendo que nenhum se perca, senão que todos cheguem ao arrependimento.
10 Neverthelesse the daye of the lorde will come as a thefe in the nyght in the which daye the hevens shall perisshe with terrible noyes and the elemetes shall melt with heet and the erth with the workes that are therin shall burne.
10 Mas o dia do Senhor virá como o ladrão de noite; no qual os céus passarão com grande estrondo, e os elementos hão de derreter com calor intenso, e a terra e as obras que nela há se queimarão.
11 Yf all these thinges shall perisshe what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conversacion and godlynes:
11 Visto então que todas essas coisas serão dissolvidas, que tipo de pessoas deveis ser em toda santa conversação e piedade,
12 lokynge for and hastynge vnto the commynge of the daye of God in which the hevens shall perisshe with fyre and the elementes shalbe consumed with heate.
12 aguardando, e apressando-vos para a vinda do dia de Deus, quando os céus, em fogo serão dissolvidos, e os elementos ao calor fervente derreter-se-ão?
13 Neverthelesse we loke for a newe heven and a newe erth accordynge to his promes where in dwelleth rightewesnes.
13 Mas nós, de acordo com a sua promessa, aguardamos novos céus e uma nova terra, onde habita a justiça.
14 Wherfore derly beloved seynge that ye loke for soche thynges be diliget that ye maye be founde of him in peace with out spotte and vndefiled
14 Por isso, amados, visto que aguardamos estas coisas, sede diligentes para que por ele sejais achados em paz, sem mácula e irrepreensíveis.
15 And suppose that the longe sufferynge of the lorde is saluacion even as oure derely beloved brother Paul accordynge to the wysdome geve vnto him wrote to you
15 E considere que a longanimidade de nosso Senhor é a salvação; como também o nosso amado irmão Paulo, segundo a sabedoria que lhe foi conferida, vos escreveu.
16 yee almost in very pistle speakynge of soche thynges: amonge which are many thynges harde to be vnderstonde which they that are vnlearned and vnstable pervert as they do other scriptures vnto their awne destruccion.
16 Como em todas as suas cartas, fala sobre estas coisas, nas quais há algumas coisas difíceis de entender, que os ignorantes e instáveis deturpam, e como também as outras escrituras, para sua própria destruição.
17 Ye therfore beloved seynge ye knowe it before hande beware lest ye be also plucked a waye with the erroure of the wicked and fall from youre awne stedfastnes:
17 Vós, portanto, amados, visto que sabeis destas coisas de antemão, cuidai para que não vos deixeis levar pelo erro dos perversos, e acabeis caindo de vossa própria firmeza.
18 but growe in grace and in the knowledge of oure lorde and saveoure Iesus Christ. To whom he glory bothe now and for ever. Amen.
18 Porém crescei na graça e conhecimento de nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo. A ele seja dada a glória, tanto agora, como para sempre. Amém.
