1 But I determened this in my silfe that I wolde not come agayne to you in hevines.
1 Mas deliberei isto comigo mesmo: não ir mais ter convosco em tristeza.
2 For yf I make you sorye who is it that shuld make me glad but the same which is made sory by me?
2 Porque, se eu vos entristeço, quem é que me alegrará, senão aquele que por mim foi contristado?
3 And I wrote this same pistle vnto you lest yf I came I shuld take hevynes of them of whom I ought to reioyce. Certaynly this confidence have I in you all that my ioye is the ioye of you all.
3 E escrevi-vos isso mesmo para que, quando lá for, não tenha tristeza da parte dos que deveriam alegrar-me, confiando em vós todos de que a minha alegria é a de todos vós.
4 For in great affliccion and anguysshe of hert I wrote vnto you with many teares: not to make you sory but that ye myght perceave the love which I have most specially vnto you.
4 Porque, em muita tribulação e angústia do coração, vos escrevi, com muitas lágrimas, não para que vos entristecêsseis, mas para que conhecêsseis o amor que abundantemente vos tenho.
5 If eny man hath caused sorow the same hath not made me sory but partely: lest I shuld greve you all.
5 Porque, se alguém me contristou, não me contristou a mim senão em parte, para vos não sobrecarregar a vós todos;
6 It is sufficient vnto the same man that he was rebuked of many. So that now contrary wyse ye ought to forgeve him and comforte him:
6 basta ao tal esta repreensão feita por muitos.
7 lest that same persone shuld be swalowed vp with over moche hevines.
7 De maneira que, pelo contrário, deveis, antes, perdoar-lhe e consolá-lo, para que o tal não seja, de modo algum, devorado de demasiada tristeza.
8 Wherfore I exhorte you that love maye have stregth over him.
8 Pelo que vos rogo que confirmeis para com ele o vosso amor.
9 For this cause verely dyd I write that I myght knowe the profe of you whether ye shuld be obediet in all thinges.
9 E para isso vos escrevi também, para por essa prova saber se sois obedientes em tudo.
10 To whom ye forgeve enythinge I forgeve also. And verely if I forgeve enythinge to whom I forgave it for youre sakes forgave I it in the roume of Christ
10 E a quem perdoardes alguma coisa também eu; porque o que eu também perdoei, se é que tenho perdoado, por amor de vós o fiz na presença de Cristo; para que não sejamos vencidos por Satanás,
11 lest Satan shuld prevet vs. For his thoughtes are not vnknowen vnto vs.
11 porque não ignoramos os seus ardis.
12 When I was come to Troada for Christes gospels sake (and a great dore was openned vnto me of the Lorde)
12 Ora, quando cheguei a Trôade para pregar o evangelho de Cristo e abrindo-se-me uma porta no Senhor,
13 I had no rest in my sprete because I founde not Titus my brother: but toke my leave of them and went awaye into Macedonia.
13 não tive descanso no meu espírito, porque não achei ali meu irmão Tito; mas, despedindo-me deles, parti para a Macedônia.
14 Thankes be vnto God which alwayes geveth vs the victorie in Christ and openeth the saver of his knowledge by vs in every place.
14 E graças a Deus, que sempre nos faz triunfar em Cristo e, por meio de nós, manifesta em todo lugar o cheiro do seu conhecimento.
15 For we are vnto God the swete savoure of Christ both amonge them that are saved and also amonge them which perisshe.
15 Porque para Deus somos o bom cheiro de Cristo, nos que se salvam e nos que se perdem.
16 To the one parte are we the savoure of deeth vnto deeth. And vnto the other parte are we the savoure of lyfe vnto lyfe. And who is mete vnto these thinges?
16 Para estes, certamente, cheiro de morte para morte; mas, para aqueles, cheiro de vida para vida. E, para essas coisas, quem é idôneo?
17 For we are not as many are which choppe and chaunge with the worde of God: but even oute of purenes and by the power of God and in the sight of God so speake we in Christ.
17 Porque nós não somos, como muitos, falsificadores da palavra de Deus; antes, falamos de Cristo com sinceridade, como de Deus na presença de Deus.
