1 I Paule my silfe beseche you by the mekenes and softnes of Christ which when I am present amonge you am of no reputacion but am bolde towarde you beinge absent.
1 Além disso, eu, Paulo, vos rogo, pela mansidão e benignidade de Cristo, eu que, na verdade, quando presente entre vós, sou humilde, mas ausente, ousado para convosco;
2 I besech you that I nede not to be bolde when I am present (with that same confidence wher with I am supposed to be bolde) agaynst some which repute vs as though we walked carnally.
2 rogo- vos, pois, que, quando estiver presente, não me veja obrigado a usar com confiança da ousadia que espero ter com alguns que nos julgam como se andássemos segundo a carne.
3 Neverthelesse though we walke compased with the fleshe yet we warre not flesshlye
3 Porque, andando na carne, não militamos segundo a carne.
4 For the weapes of oure warre are not carnall thinges but thynges myghty in god to cast doune stronge holdes
4 Porque as armas da nossa milícia não são carnais, mas, sim, poderosas em Deus, para destruição das fortalezas;
5 wherwith we overthrowe ymaginacyons and every hye thynge that exalteh it silfe agaynst the knowledge of god and brynge into captivite all vnderstondynge to the obedience of Christ
5 destruindo os conselhos e toda altivez que se levanta contra o conhecimento de Deus, e levando cativo todo entendimento à obediência de Cristo,
6 and are redy to take vengeaunce on all disobedience when youre obedience is fulfilled.
6 e estando prontos para vingar toda desobediência, quando for cumprida a vossa obediência.
7 Loke ye on thynges after the vtter apparence? Yf eny man trust in him silfe that he is Christis let the same also considre of him silfe that as he is Christis even so are we Christes.
7 Olhais para as coisas segundo a aparência? Se alguém confia de si mesmo que é de Cristo, pense outra vez isto consigo: assim como ele é de Cristo, também nós de Cristo somos.
8 And though I shuld bost my silfe somewhat moare of oure auctorite which the lorde hath geven vs to edifie and not to destroye you it shulde not be to my shame.
8 Porque, ainda que eu me glorie mais alguma coisa do nosso poder, o qual o Senhor nos deu para edificação e não para vossa destruição, não me envergonharei,
9 This saye I lest I shuld seme as though I went about to make you a frayde with letters.
9 para que não pareça como se quisera intimidar-vos por cartas.
10 For the pistles (sayth he) are sore and stronge: but his bodyly presence is weake and his speache rude.
10 Porque as suas cartas, dizem, são graves e fortes, mas a presença do corpo é fraca, e a palavra, desprezível.
11 Let him that is soche thynke on this wyse that as we are in wordes by letters when we are absent soche are we in dedes when we are present.
11 Pense o tal isto: quais somos na palavra por cartas, estando ausentes, tais seremos também por obra, estando presentes.
12 For we cannot fynde in oure hertes to make oure selves of the nombre of them or to compare oure selves to them which laude the selves neuerthelesse whill they measure the selves with them selves and compare the selves with the selves they vnderstode nought.
12 Porque não ousamos classificar-nos ou comparar-nos com alguns que se louvam a si mesmos; mas esses que se medem a si mesmos e se comparam consigo mesmos estão sem entendimento.
13 But we wyll not reioyce above measure: but accordynge to the quantitie of the measure which god hath distributed vnto vs a measure that reacheth even vnto you.
13 Porém não nos gloriaremos fora de medida, mas conforme a reta medida que Deus nos deu, para chegarmos até vós;
14 For we stretche uot out oure selves beyode measure as though we had not reached vnto you. For even vnto you have we come with the gospell of Christ
14 porque não nos estendemos além do que convém, como se não houvéssemos de chegar até vós, pois já chegamos também até vós no evangelho de Cristo;
15 and we bost not oure selves out of measure in other mens labours. Ye and we hope when youre fayth is increased amonge you to be magnified acordynge to oure measure more largely
15 não nos gloriando fora de medida nos trabalhos alheios; antes, tendo esperança de que, crescendo a vossa fé, seremos abundantemente engrandecidos entre vós, conforme a nossa regra,
16 and to preache the gospell in those regions which are beyode you: and not to reioyce of that which is by another mans measure prepared all redy.
16 para anunciar o evangelho nos lugares que estão além de vós e não em campo de outrem, para nos não gloriarmos no que estava já preparado.
17 Let him that reioyseth reioyce in the lorde.
17 Aquele, porém, que se gloria, glorie-se no Senhor.
18 For he that prayseth him silfe is not alowed: but he whom the lorde prayseth.
18 Porque não é aprovado quem a si mesmo se louva, mas, sim, aquele a quem o Senhor louva.
