1 All who are under the yoke of slavery must regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that no one will revile God's name or his doctrine.
1 Os escravos devem ter todo o respeito por seus senhores, para não envergonharem o nome de Deus e seus ensinamentos.
2 Slaves who have believing masters must not despise them, for they are brothers; rather they must serve them, because those who benefit from their good service are faithful and beloved. False Teachers and the Love of Money Teach and encourage these things.
2 O fato de o senhor ser irmão na fé não é desculpa para deixarem de respeitá-lo. Pelo contrário, devem trabalhar ainda mais arduamente, pois seus esforços beneficiam outros irmãos amados. Ensine estas coisas e incentive todos a obedecer-lhes.
3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that is in accordance with godliness,
3 Talvez alguns nos contradigam, mas estes são os verdadeiros ensinamentos do Senhor Jesus Cristo, que conduzem a uma vida de devoção. Quem ensina algo diferente
4 he is puffed up and understands nothing. Moreover, he has an unhealthy desire for controversies and quarrels about words, from which come envy, strife, slanderous words, evil suspicions,
4 é arrogante e sem entendimento. Vive com o desejo doentio de discutir o significado das palavras e provoca contendas que resultam em inveja, divisão, difamação e suspeitas malignas.
5 and constant disagreement among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, supposing that godliness is a means of gain.Keep away from such people.
5 Pessoas assim sempre causam problemas. Têm a mente corrompida e deram as costas à verdade. Para elas, a vida de devoção é apenas uma forma de enriquecer.
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
6 No entanto, a devoção acompanhada de contentamento é, em si mesma, grande riqueza.
7 For we brought nothing into the world, andit is clear that we cannot bring anything out either,
7 Afinal, não trouxemos nada conosco quando viemos ao mundo, e nada levaremos quando o deixarmos.
8 but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
8 Portanto, se temos alimento e roupa, estejamos contentes.
9 But those who wish to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many senseless and harmful desires that sink people into ruin and destruction.
9 Mas aqueles que desejam enriquecer caem em tentações e armadilhas e em muitos desejos tolos e nocivos, que os levam à ruína e destruição.
10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to become rich some have wandered away from the faith, piercing themselves with many sorrows.
10 Pois o amor ao dinheiro é a raiz de todo mal. E alguns, por tanto desejarem dinheiro, desviaram-se da fé e afligiram a si mesmos com muitos sofrimentos.
11 But as for yoʋ, O man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.
11 Você, porém, que é um homem de Deus, fuja de todas essas coisas más. Busque a justiça, a devoção e também a fé, o amor, a perseverança e a mansidão.
12 Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which yoʋ were called and concerning which yoʋ made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
12 Lute o bom combate da fé. Apegue-se firmemente à vida eterna para a qual foi chamado e que tão bem você declarou na presença de muitas testemunhas.
13 I charge yoʋ before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who made the good confession in his testimony before Pontius Pilate,
13 Diante de Deus, que a todos dá vida, e de Cristo Jesus, que deu bom testemunho perante Pôncio Pilatos, encarrego-o
14 that yoʋ obey what has been commanded without fault or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
14 de obedecer a esta ordem sem vacilar. Assim, ninguém poderá acusá-lo de coisa alguma, desde agora até a volta de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
15 which God will reveal in his own time. He is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
15 Pois: No devido tempo ele será revelado do céu pelo bendito e único Deus todo-poderoso, o Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores.
16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has ever seen or is able to see. To him be honor and eternal power. Amen.
16 Somente a ele pertence a imortalidade, e ele habita em luz tão resplandecente que nenhum ser humano pode se aproximar dele. Ninguém jamais o viu, nem pode ver. A ele sejam honra e poder para sempre! Amém.
17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty or to put their hope in the uncertainty of riches, but inthe living God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
17 Ensine aos ricos deste mundo que não se orgulhem nem confiem em seu dinheiro, que é incerto. Sua confiança deve estar em Deus, que provê ricamente tudo de que necessitamos para nossa satisfação.
18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and willing to share,
18 Diga-lhes que usem seu dinheiro para fazer o bem. Devem ser ricos em boas obras e generosos com os necessitados, sempre prontos a repartir.
19 treasuring up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, so that they may take hold ofeternal life.
19 Desse modo, acumularão tesouros para si como um alicerce firme para o futuro, a fim de experimentarem a verdadeira vida.
20 O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to yoʋ and avoid the profane chatter and counterarguments of what is falsely called “knowledge.”
20 Timóteo, guarde aquilo que Deus lhe confiou. Evite discussões profanas e tolas com aqueles que se opõem a você com suposto conhecimento.
21 By professing it, some have strayed from the faith. Grace be withyoʋ.
21 Alguns se desviaram da fé por seguirem essas tolices. Que a graça de Deus esteja com vocês.
