¹ “A psalm of the steps, or the goings up. By David.” If the LORD had not been for us, Now may Israel say,

¹ Se o Senhor não estivesse do nosso lado; que Israel o repita:

² If the LORD had not been for us, When men rose up against us,

² Se o Senhor não estivesse do nosso lado quando os inimigos nos atacaram,

³ Then had they swallowed us up alive, When their wrath burned against us;

³ eles já nos teriam engolido vivos, quando se enfureceram contra nós;

⁴ Then the waters had overwhelmed us; The stream had gone over our soul;

⁴ as águas nos teriam arrastado e as torrentes nos teriam afogado;

⁵ The proud waters had gone over our soul.

⁶ Blessed be the LORD, Who hath not given us a prey to their teeth!

⁷ We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
