1 O that my head were waters, And mine eyes a fountain of tears, That I might weep day and night For the slain of the daughter of my people!
1 Oh! se a minha cabeça se tornasse em águas, e os meus olhos em uma fonte de lágrimas, para que eu pudesse chorar dia e noite pelos mortos da filha de meu povo!
2 O that I had a traveller's lodge in the wilderness, That I might leave my people, and go from them! For they are all adulterers; An assembly of revolters.
2 Oh! que eu tivesse no deserto um acampamento temporário para homens que viajam a pé, para que o meu povo fosse com eles! Pois eles são todos adúlteros, um bando de homens traiçoeiros.
3 They bend their tongues, like their bows, for lies, And not by truth do they grow mighty in the earth; They proceed from wickedness to wickedness, And have no regard to me, saith Jehovah.
3 E eles curvam suas línguas, como o arco para mentiras. Porém não são valentes para a verdade sobre a terra, porque prosseguem de mal para mal, e não me conhecem, diz o SENHOR.
4 Be on your guard each one against his neighbor, And trust ye not in any brother; For every brother will supplant, And every neighbor will slander.
4 Prestai muita atenção cada um a seu próximo, e não confiai em nenhum irmão, pois todo irmão irá usurpar, e todo o próximo andará com difamadores.
5 They deceive every one his neighbor, And do not speak the truth; They have accustomed their tongues to speak lies; They weary themselves in doing iniquity.
5 E eles enganarão cada um a seu próximo e não falarão a verdade. Eles ensinaram suas línguas e proferiram mentiras, e cansaram-se de cometer iniquidade.
6 Thy habitation is in the midst of deceit, [[O prophet!]] Through deceit they refuse to know me, saith Jehovah.
6 Tua habitação está no meio do engano, por meio do engano recusam-se a me conhecer, diz o SENHOR.
7 Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold I will melt them and try them; For what else can I do on account of the daughter of my people?
7 Portanto assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos. Eis que eu os fundirei e os provarei, pois como eu agirei por causa da filha do meu povo?
8 Their tongue is a deadly arrow; Every one of them speaketh treachery; With their mouth they speak peace to their neighbor, But in their heart they lay snares for him.
8 A sua língua é como uma flecha atirada, que profere engano. Com a sua boca cada um fala pacificamente a seu próximo, mas no coração prepara-lhe emboscada.
9 Shall I not punish them for these things? saith Jehovah; Shall I not be avenged on such a nation as this?
9 Não os visitarei por estas coisas? diz o SENHOR. Não será minha alma vingada de uma nação como esta?
10 For the mountains will I lift up a weeping and wailing, And for the pastures of the plains a lamentation, For they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; No more is heard the voice of the cattle; Both the birds of the heavens and the beasts have fled, and are gone.
10 Pelos montes erguerei um choro e pranto, e pelas habitações do deserto uma lamentação, porque elas estão completamente queimadas, tanto que ninguém pode atravessá-las. Nem podem os homens ouvir a voz do gado. Tanto as aves dos céus quanto os animais, fugiram e se foram.
11 I will make Jerusalem heaps of stones, The dwelling-place of jackals; And I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.
11 E eu farei de Jerusalém montões, e um antro de dragões, e farei as cidades de Judá desoladas, sem um habitante.
12 Who is the wise man, that he may understand this, And he to whom the mouth of the Lord hath spoken, that he may declare it? Why is it that the land perisheth, That it is burned up like a desert, which none passeth through?
12 Quem é o homem sábio que possa entender isto? E quem é aquele a quem a boca do SENHOR falou, para que ele possa declarar isto, por que razão a terra perece e está completamente queimada como um deserto, que ninguém atravessa?
13 Jehovah himself hath said: It is because they have forsaken my law, Which I set before them, And have not hearkened to my voice, Nor walked according to it;
13 E o SENHOR diz: Porque eles abandonaram a minha lei, a qual eu coloquei perante eles, e não obedeceram a minha voz, nem andaram nela.
14 But have walked after the obstinacy of their own heart, And after the Baals, as their fathers taught them.
14 Mas andaram após a imaginação do seu próprio coração, e após os baalins, conforme seus pais lhes ensinaram.
15 Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will feed this people with wormwood, And give them water of hemlock to drink.
15 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que eu alimentarei com absinto este povo, e darei água de fel para beber.
16 I will also scatter them among nations Which neither they nor their fathers have known, And I will send after them the sword, Till I have made an end of them.
16 Eu também os dispersarei entre os pagãos, a quem nem eles e nem os seus pais conheceram. E enviarei uma espada após eles, até que eu os consuma.
17 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come, And send to the skilful ones, that they may come;
17 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Considerai e chamai as pranteadeiras, para que possam vir e mandai buscar mulheres habilidosas para que venham,
18 Let them make haste, and lift up a wailing for us, That our eyes may run down with tears, And our eyelids gush forth with waters.
18 e que se apressem e ergam um pranto por nós, e que nossos olhos percam o vigor com lágrimas, e nossas pálpebras jorrem águas.
19 Behold, a voice of wailing is heard from Zion: “How are we spoiled! How are we put to shame! We must leave our native land; They have cast down our habitations.”
19 Porque uma voz de pranto se ouve em Sião: Como estamos arruinados! Nós estamos verdadeiramente perplexos, porque abandonamos a terra, porque nossas habitações nos expeliram.
20 Hear, O ye women, the word of Jehovah! Let your ear receive the word of his mouth! Teach your daughters a lamentation, And every one her companion a mournful dirge!
20 Contudo, ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, ó vós mulheres, e que vosso ouvido receba a palavra da sua boca, e ensinai vossas filhas o pranto, e cada uma à sua vizinha a lamentação.
21 For death cometh in through our windows, It entereth our palaces; It cutteth off the children from the street, And the young men from the public places.
21 Porque a morte adentra nossas janelas, e entrou nos nossos palácios, para cortar os filhos do lado de fora, e os homens jovens das ruas.
22 Declare it, saith Jehovah! The dead bodies of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, And as the handful behind the reaper, Which none gathereth up.
22 Fala: Assim diz o SENHOR: Até as carcaças dos homens cairão como esterco sobre o campo aberto, e como o punhado atrás do segador, e ninguém irá catá-las.
23 Thus saith Jehovah: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Nor let the mighty glory in his might, Nor let the rich glory in his riches!
23 Assim diz o SENHOR: Não se glorie o homem sábio na sua sabedoria, nem se glorie o homem poderoso no seu poder; tampouco se glorie o homem rico em suas riquezas.
24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, That he hath regard to me, and knoweth me, That I am Jehovah, who exercise loving-kindness, Justice, and righteousness upon the earth; For in these do I delight, saith Jehovah.
24 Mas permitam àquele que se gloria, gloriar-se nisto, que ele me conheça e saiba, que eu sou o SENHOR, que faço misericórdia, juízo e justiça na terra, pois nestas coisas me deleito, diz o SENHOR.
25 Behold the days come, saith Jehovah, That I will punish all the circumcised with the uncircumcised,
25 Eis que os dias vêm, diz o SENHOR, em que eu punirei todos aqueles que são circuncidados com os incircuncisos.
26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, And the sons of Ammon and Moab, And all with shaven cheeks, that dwell in the wilderness. For all the nations are uncircumcised, And all the house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart.
26 Egito e Judá, e Edom, e os filhos de Amom, e Moabe, e todos que estão nas regiões extremas, que habitam no deserto. Pois todas estas nações são incircuncisas, e toda a casa de Israel é incircuncisa no coração.
