1 The word of Jehovah which came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh had smitten Gaza.
1 Esta é a palavra do Senhor que veio ao profeta Jeremias acerca dos filisteus, antes do ataque do faraó a Gaza:
2 Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, waters rise up out of the North, And they shall become an overflowing torrent, And shall overflow the land, and all that is therein,—The city, and them that dwell therein; And the men shall cry aloud, And all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
2 Assim diz o Senhor: "Vejam como as águas estão subindo do norte; elas se tornam uma torrente transbordante. Inundarão esta terra e tudo o que nela existe; as cidades e os seus habitantes. O povo clamará, gritarão todos os habitantes desta terra,
3 At the noise of the stamping of the horses, At the rattling of his chariots, And at the rumbling of his wheels, Fathers look not back for their children, For feebleness of hands,
3 ao estrondo dos cascos dos seus cavalos galopando, ao barulho dos seus carros de guerra, e ao estampido de suas rodas. Os pais não se voltarão para ajudar seus filhos; pois suas mãos estão fracas.
4 Because of the day which cometh, To lay waste all the Philistines, To cut off from Tyre and from Sidon Every helper that remaineth. For Jehovah will lay waste the Philistines, The remnant of the country of Caphtor.
4 Pois chegou o dia de destruir todos os filisteus e de eliminar todos os sobreviventes que poderiam ajudar Tiro e Sidom. O Senhor destruirá os filisteus, o remanescente da ilha de Caftor.
5 Baldness is come upon Gaza, Askelon is in ruins, And the remnant of their valley! How long wilt thou cut thyself?
5 Os habitantes de Gaza rasparam a cabeça; Ascalom está calada. Ó remanescentes da planície, até quando você fará incisões no próprio corpo? "
6 Ah! sword of Jehovah, How long ere thou wilt be quiet? Retire into thy scabbard, Rest, and be still!
6 " ‘Ah, espada do Senhor, quando você descansará? Volte à sua bainha, acalme-se e repouse. ’
7 But how canst thou be at rest, Since Jehovah hath given thee a charge against Askelon, And against the coast of the sea? There hath he appointed it.
7 Mas como poderá ela descansar quando o Senhor lhe deu ordens, quando ele lhe ordenou que ataque Ascalom e o litoral? "
