Jeremias 11

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:
1 Palavra que veio a Jeremias, da parte do Senhor , dizendo:
2 Hear ye the words of this covenant, And speak ye to the men of Judah, And the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
2 Ouve as palavras desta aliança e fala aos homens de Judá e aos habitantes de Jerusalém;
3 And say thou to them, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel: Cursed is the man who will not obey the words of this covenant,
3 dize-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor , o Deus de Israel: Maldito o homem que não atentar para as palavras desta aliança,
4 Which I commanded your fathers, When I brought them forth from the land of Egypt, From the iron furnace, saying, “Obey ye my voice, And do all which I command you; So shall ye be my people, And I will be your God;
4 que ordenei a vossos pais, no dia em que os tirei da terra do Egito, da fornalha de ferro, dizendo: dai ouvidos à minha voz e fazei tudo segundo o que vos mando; assim, vós me sereis a mim por povo, e eu vos serei a vós outros por Deus;
5 So that I may perform the oath, Which I made to your fathers, To give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day.” Then answered I, and said, So may it be, O Jehovah!
5 para que confirme o juramento que fiz a vossos pais de lhes dar uma terra que manasse leite e mel, como se vê neste dia. Então, eu respondi e disse: amém, ó Senhor !
6 Then said Jehovah to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, And the streets of Jerusalem, saying: Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them!
6 Tornou-me o Senhor : Apregoa todas estas palavras nas cidades de Judá e nas ruas de Jerusalém, dizendo: Ouvi as palavras desta aliança e cumpri-as.
7 For I have earnestly admonished your fathers, From the time when I brought them up from the land of Egypt to this day, Rising early and admonishing them, saying, “Obey ye my voice!”
7 Porque, deveras, adverti a vossos pais, no dia em que os tirei da terra do Egito, até ao dia de hoje, testemunhando desde cedo cada dia, dizendo: dai ouvidos à minha voz.
8 Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, But walked every one in the obstinacy of his evil heart; Therefore have I brought upon them all the words of this covenant, Which I commanded them to obey, And they obeyed not.
8 Mas não atenderam, nem inclinaram o seu ouvido; antes, andaram, cada um, segundo a dureza do seu coração maligno; pelo que fiz cair sobre eles todas as ameaças desta aliança, a qual lhes ordenei que cumprissem, mas não cumpriram.
9 Jehovah also said to me: A conspiracy hath been found among the men of Judah, And the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
9 Disse-me ainda o Senhor : Uma conspiração se achou entre os homens de Judá, entre os habitantes de Jerusalém.
10 They turn back to the iniquities of their forefathers, Who refused to hearken to my words; They go after strange gods and serve them; The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant Which I made with their fathers.
10 Tornaram às maldades de seus primeiros pais, que recusaram ouvir as minhas palavras; andaram eles após outros deuses para os servir; a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá violaram a minha aliança, que eu fizera com seus pais.
11 Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold I bring upon them a calamity, From which they shall not be able to escape; And though they cry to me, I will not hear them.
11 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor : Eis que trarei mal sobre eles, de que não poderão escapar; clamarão a mim, porém não os ouvirei.
12 Then may the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem go, And cry to the gods to whom they burn incense; But they shall not save them at all in the time of their calamity.
12 Então, as cidades de Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém irão aos deuses a quem eles queimaram incenso e a eles clamarão; porém estes, de nenhuma sorte, os livrarão do tempo do seu mal.
13 For according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah! According to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to a thing of shame, Altars for burning incense to Baal.
13 Porque, ó Judá, segundo o número das tuas cidades, são os teus deuses; segundo o número das ruas de Jerusalém, levantaste altares para vergonhosa coisa, isto é, para queimares incenso a Baal.
14 Therefore pray not thou for this people, Nor lift up a cry or a prayer for them; For I will not hear when they cry to me On account of their calamity.
14 Tu, pois, não ores por este povo, nem levantes por eles clamor nem oração; porque não os ouvirei quando eles clamarem a mim, por causa do seu mal.
15 What hath my beloved to do in my house, While many pollute it with wickedness? The holy flesh shall pass away from thee, For when thou doest evil, thou rejoicest.
15 Que direito tem na minha casa a minha amada, ela que cometeu vilezas? Acaso, ó amada, votos e carnes sacrificadas poderão afastar de ti o mal? Então, saltarias de prazer.
16 Jehovah hath called thee an olive-tree, Green, fair, and of goodly fruit; With the noise of a great crackling doth he kindle a fire upon it, And the branches of it shall be broken.
16 O Senhor te chamou de oliveira verde, formosa por seus deliciosos frutos; mas agora, à voz de grande tumulto, acendeu fogo ao redor dela e consumiu os seus ramos.
17 For Jehovah of hosts, who planted thee, Hath pronounced evil against thee, On account of the wickedness of the house of Israel and of Judah, which they have committed In provoking me to anger by burning incense to Baal.
17 Porque o Senhor dos Exércitos, que te plantou, pronunciou contra ti o mal, pela maldade que a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá para si mesmas fizeram, pois me provocaram à ira, queimando incenso a Baal.
18 Jehovah made it known to me, and I knew it; Thou didst show me their machinations!
18 O Senhor mo fez saber, e eu o soube; então, me fizeste ver as suas maquinações.
19 For I was like a tame lamb, that is led to the slaughter, And knew not that they had formed plots against me, [[saying,]] “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, Let us cut him off from the land of the living, That his name may no more be remembered!”
19 Eu era como manso cordeiro, que é levado ao matadouro; porque eu não sabia que tramavam projetos contra mim, dizendo: Destruamos a árvore com seu fruto; a ele cortemo-lo da terra dos viventes, e não haja mais memória do seu nome.
20 But, O Jehovah of hosts, the righteous judge, Who triest the reins and the heart, I shall see thy vengeance on them, For to thee have I revealed my cause!
20 Mas, ó Senhor dos Exércitos, justo Juiz, que provas o mais íntimo do coração, veja eu a tua vingança sobre eles; pois a ti revelei a minha causa.
21 Therefore thus saith Jehovah against the men of Anathoth, Who seek thy life, and say, “Prophesy not in the name of Jehovah, Lest thou die by our hand!”
21 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor acerca dos homens de Anatote que procuram a tua morte e dizem: Não profetizes em o nome do Senhor , para que não morras às nossas mãos.
22 Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will punish them; Their young men shall die by the sword; Their sons and their daughters shall die by famine,
22 Sim, assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Eis que eu os punirei; os jovens morrerão à espada, os seus filhos e as suas filhas morrerão de fome.
23 There shall be none of them left; For I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, At the time of their punishment.
23 E não haverá deles resto nenhum, porque farei vir o mal sobre os homens de Anatote, no ano da sua punição.
