1 Yet now hear, O Jacob, my servant, And Israel, whom I have chosen;
1 Agora, pois, ouve, ó Jacó, servo meu, ó Israel, a quem escolhi.
2 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Creator, He that formed thee, and hath helped thee from thy birth, Fear not, O Jacob, my servant, O Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
2 Assim diz o Senhor , que te criou, e te formou desde o ventre, e que te ajuda: Não temas, ó Jacó, servo meu, ó amado, a quem escolhi.
3 For I will pour water upon the thirsty land, And streams upon the dry ground. I will pour out my spirit on thy children, And my blessing on thine offspring;
3 Porque derramarei água sobre o sedento e torrentes, sobre a terra seca; derramarei o meu Espírito sobre a tua posteridade e a minha bênção, sobre os teus descendentes;
4 And they shall grow up, as among grass; As willows by the water-brooks.
4 e brotarão como a erva, como salgueiros junto às correntes das águas.
5 One shall say, “I belong to Jehovah”; Another shall call upon the name of Jacob; Another shall write upon his hand, Jehovah's! And praise the name of Israel.
5 Um dirá: Eu sou do Senhor ; outro se chamará do nome de Jacó; o outro ainda escreverá na própria mão: Eu sou do Senhor , e por sobrenome tomará o nome de Israel.
6 Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, His redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I the last, And besides me there is no God.
6 Assim diz o Senhor , Rei de Israel, seu Redentor, o Senhor dos Exércitos: Eu sou o primeiro e eu sou o último, e além de mim não há Deus.
7 Who like me hath proclaimed the future,—Let him declare it, and set it in order before me!— Since I established the people of old? Let them make known the future, even that which is to come!
7 Quem há, como eu, feito predições desde que estabeleci o mais antigo povo? Que o declare e o exponha perante mim! Que esse anuncie as coisas futuras, as coisas que hão de vir!
8 Fear ye not, neither be ye afraid! Have I not declared and made it known to you of old? Ye are my witnesses; Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no other rock; I know not any.
8 Não vos assombreis, nem temais; acaso, desde aquele tempo não vo-lo fiz ouvir, não vo-lo anunciei? Vós sois as minhas testemunhas. Há outro Deus além de mim? Não, não há outra Rocha que eu conheça.
9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity, And their valued works are profitable for nothing; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor understand, So that they may be ashamed.
9 Todos os artífices de imagens de escultura são nada, e as suas coisas preferidas são de nenhum préstimo; eles mesmos são testemunhas de que elas nada veem, nem entendem, para que eles sejam confundidos.
10 Who hath formed a god, And cast a graven image, that is profitable for nothing?
10 Quem formaria um deus ou fundiria uma imagem de escultura, que é de nenhum préstimo?
11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed; The workmen are themselves mortal men; They shall all be assembled; they shall stand up; They shall tremble, and be put to shame together!
11 Eis que todos os seus seguidores ficariam confundidos, pois os mesmos artífices não passam de homens; ajuntem-se todos e se apresentem, espantem-se e sejam, à uma, envergonhados.
12 The smith prepareth an axe in the coals, And fashioneth it with hammers, And worketh it with his strong arm; He becometh hungry, and his strength faileth; He drinketh no water, and is faint.
12 O ferreiro faz o machado, trabalha nas brasas, forma um ídolo a martelo e forja-o com a força do seu braço; ele tem fome, e a sua força falta, não bebe água e desfalece.
13 The carpenter stretcheth out the line; He marketh out the form of it with the sharp tool; He formeth it with planes; He marketh it with the compass; He maketh it in the figure of a man, With the beauty of a man, To dwell in a house.
13 O artífice em madeira estende o cordel e, com o lápis, esboça uma imagem; alisa-a com plaina, marca com o compasso e faz à semelhança e beleza de um homem, que possa morar em uma casa.
14 He heweth him down cedars; He taketh the ilex and the oak; He chooseth for himself among the trees of the forest; He planteth the ash, and the rain matureth it;
14 Um homem corta para si cedros, toma um cipreste ou um carvalho, fazendo escolha entre as árvores do bosque; planta um pinheiro, e a chuva o faz crescer.
15 These are fuel for man; He taketh thereof and warmeth himself; He kindleth with it, and baketh bread; A god also he formeth of it, and worshippeth it; A graven image, and falleth down before it.
15 Tais árvores servem ao homem para queimar; com parte de sua madeira se aquenta e coze o pão; e também faz um deus e se prostra diante dele, esculpe uma imagem e se ajoelha diante dela.
16 Half of it he burneth with fire; With half of it he eateth flesh; He roasteth meat, and satisfieth himself; He also warmeth himself, and saith, Aha! I am warm; I feel the fire.
16 Metade queima no fogo e com ela coze a carne para comer; assa-a e farta-se; também se aquenta e diz: Ah! Já me aquento, contemplo a luz.
17 Of the residue he maketh a god, even his graven image; He falleth down before it and worshippeth it, And prayeth to it, and saith, “Deliver me, for thou art my God!”
17 Então, do resto faz um deus, uma imagem de escultura; ajoelha-se diante dela, prostra-se e lhe dirige a sua oração, dizendo: Livra-me, porque tu és o meu deus.
18 They know not, neither understand; For their eyes are closed up, that they cannot see, And their hearts, that they cannot understand.
18 Nada sabem, nem entendem; porque se lhes grudaram os olhos, para que não vejam, e o seu coração já não pode entender.
19 None considereth in his mind, Or hath knowledge and understanding to say: “Half of it I have burned with fire; I have also baked bread on the coals of it; I have roasted flesh and have eaten; And shall I make the remnant an abomination? Shall I fall down before the stock of a tree?”
19 Nenhum deles cai em si, já não há conhecimento nem compreensão para dizer: Metade queimei e cozi pão sobre as suas brasas, assei sobre elas carne e a comi; e faria eu do resto uma abominação? Ajoelhar-me-ia eu diante de um pedaço de árvore?
20 He toileth for ashes; A deluded heart turneth him aside, So that he cannot deliver himself, and say “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”
20 Tal homem se apascenta de cinza; o seu coração enganado o iludiu, de maneira que não pode livrar a sua alma, nem dizer: Não é mentira aquilo em que confio?
21 Remember these things, O Jacob, O Israel, for thou art my servant! I formed thee; thou art my servant; O Israel, I will not forget thee.
21 Lembra-te destas coisas, ó Jacó, ó Israel, porquanto és meu servo! Eu te formei, tu és meu servo, ó Israel; não me esquecerei de ti.
22 I have caused thy transgressions to vanish like a cloud, And thy sins like a mist; Return to me, for I have redeemed thee!
22 Desfaço as tuas transgressões como a névoa e os teus pecados, como a nuvem; torna-te para mim, porque eu te remi.
23 Sing, O ye heavens, for Jehovah hath done it; Shout, O ye depths of the earth! Break forth into song, ye mountains! Thou forest, and every tree therein! For Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, And glorified himself in Israel.
23 Regozijai-vos, ó céus, porque o Senhor fez isto; exultai, vós, ó profundezas da terra; retumbai com júbilo, vós, montes, vós, bosques e todas as suas árvores, porque o Senhor remiu a Jacó e se glorificou em Israel.
24 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, Even he that formed thee from the womb; I am Jehovah, who made all things; Who stretched out the heavens alone; Who spread out the earth by myself;
24 Assim diz o Senhor , que te redime, o mesmo que te formou desde o ventre materno: Eu sou o Senhor , que faço todas as coisas, que sozinho estendi os céus e sozinho espraiei a terra;
25 Who frustrateth the signs of deceivers, And maketh the diviners mad; Who putteth the wise men to shame, And maketh their knowledge folly;
25 que desfaço os sinais dos profetizadores de mentiras e enlouqueço os adivinhos; que faço tornar atrás os sábios, cujo saber converto em loucuras;
26 Who establisheth the word of his servant, And performeth the purpose of his messengers; Who saith of Jerusalem, “She shall be inhabited,” And of the cities of Judah, “They shall be built,” And, “Her desolated places I will restore.”
26 que confirmo a palavra do meu servo e cumpro o conselho dos meus mensageiros; que digo de Jerusalém: Ela será habitada; e das cidades de Judá: Elas serão edificadas; e quanto às suas ruínas: Eu as levantarei;
27 Who saith to the deep, “Be dry! I will dry up thy streams!”
27 que digo à profundeza das águas: Seca-te, e eu secarei os teus rios;
28 Who saith of Cyrus, “He is my shepherd; He shall perform all my pleasure”; Who saith of Jerusalem, “She shall be built,” And of the temple, “Her foundation shall be laid.”
28 que digo de Ciro: Ele é meu pastor e cumprirá tudo o que me apraz; que digo também de Jerusalém: Será edificada; e do templo: Será fundado.
