1 O Jehovah, thou art my God; I will exalt thee; I will praise thy name, For thou hast done wonderful things; Thine ancient purposes are faithfulness and truth.
1 Ó Senhor , tu és o meu Deus; eu te exaltarei e louvarei o teu nome, porque tens feito maravilhas e tens executado os teus conselhos antigos, fiéis e verdadeiros.
2 Thou hast made the city a heap; The fortified city a ruin. The palace of the barbarians is to be no more a city! It shall never be built again.
2 Porque da cidade fizeste um montão de pedras e da cidade fortificada, uma ruína; a fortaleza dos estrangeiros já não é cidade e jamais será reconstruída.
3 Therefore shall mighty kingdoms praise thee; The cities of the terrible nations shall honor thee;
3 Por isso, um povo forte te glorificará, e a cidade das nações opressoras te temerá.
4 For thou hast been a defence to the poor; A defence to the needy in his distress; A refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, When the rage of tyrants was like a storm against a wall.
4 Porque foste a fortaleza do pobre e a fortaleza do necessitado na sua angústia; refúgio contra a tempestade e sombra contra o calor. Porque a fúria dos tiranos é como a tempestade contra o muro,
5 As heat in a dry land is made to vanish, So thou puttest down the tumult of the barbarians; As heat is allayed by a thick cloud, So the triumph of the tyrants is brought low.
5 como o calor em lugar seco. Tu farás cessar o tumulto dos estrangeiros. Como o calor se abranda com a sombra de uma nuvem, assim o hino triunfal dos tiranos será silenciado.
6 Then in this mountain shall Jehovah of hosts prepare for all nations A feast of fat things, and wines kept on the lees; Of fat things full of marrow, of wines kept on the lees well refined.
6 O Senhor dos Exércitos dará neste monte um banquete para todos os povos. Será um banquete de carnes suculentas e vinhos envelhecidos: carnes suculentas com tutanos e vinhos envelhecidos bem-clarificados.
7 He will destroy in this mountain the covering that was cast over all people, And the veil that was spread over all nations.
7 Neste monte ele acabará com o pano que cobre todos os povos e com o véu que está posto sobre todas as nações.
8 He will destroy death forever; The Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces, And the reproach of his people will he take away from the whole earth; For Jehovah hath said it.
8 Tragará a morte para sempre, e, assim, o de todos os rostos, e tirará de toda a terra o vexame do seu povo, porque o
9 In that day shall men say, “Behold, this is our God; We waited for him, and he hath saved us; This is Jehovah, for whom we waited; Let us rejoice and exult in his salvation.”
9 Naquele dia, se dirá: “Eis que este é o nosso Deus, em quem esperávamos, e ele nos salvará; este é o a quem aguardávamos; na sua salvação exultaremos e nos alegraremos.”
10 For the hand of Jehovah shall rest upon this mountain, And Moab shall be trodden down in his place, As straw is trodden down in a dung-pool.
10 Porque a mão do Senhor repousará neste monte; mas Moabe será pisoteado no seu lugar, como se pisa a palha na esterqueira.
11 And he shall stretch out his hands in the midst of it, As the swimmer stretcheth out his hands to swim, But God shall put down his pride, Together with the devices of his hands.
11 No meio disto Moabe estenderá os braços, como o nadador os estende para nadar; mas o apesar da perícia dos seus braços.
12 And the high bulwarks of thy walls will he lay low; He will bring them down to the ground; he will lay them in the dust.
12 Ele derrubará as altas fortalezas das muralhas de Moabe; irá abatê-las e derrubá-las até o chão, até o pó.
