1 Then came the word of Jehovah to me, saying:
1 Esta palavra do Senhor veio a mim:
2 Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,
2 "Filho do homem, vire o rosto contra Jerusalém e pregue contra o santuário. Profetize contra Israel,
3 and say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and I will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.
3 dizendo-lhe: ‘Assim diz o Senhor: Estou contra você. Empunharei a minha espada para eliminar tanto o justo quanto o ímpio.
4 Seeing then that I cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north.
4 Uma vez que eu vou eliminar o justo e o ímpio, estarei empunhando a minha espada contra todos, desde o Neguebe até o norte.
5 And all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more.
5 Então todos saberão que eu, o Senhor, da bainha tirei a espada e não tornarei a guardá-la’.
6 Thou, therefore, O son of man, sigh! With the breaking of thy loins, and with bitterness, sigh before their eyes!
6 "Portanto, passe a gemer, filho do homem! Passe a gemer diante deles com o coração partido e com amarga tristeza.
7 And when they shall say to thee, “Wherefore sighest thou?” thou shalt say, “For the rumor, because it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall fail, and all knees shall flow with water. Behold it cometh, it shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord Jehovah.”
7 E, quando lhe perguntarem: ‘Por que você está gemendo? ’, você dirá: ‘Por causa das notícias que estão vindo. Todo coração se derreterá, e toda mão penderá frouxa; todo espírito desmaiará, e todo joelho se tornará como água, de tão fraco’. E vem chegando! Sem nenhuma dúvida vai acontecer; palavra do Soberano Senhor".
8 Also the word of Jehovah came to me, saying:
8 Esta palavra do Senhor veio a mim:
9 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, The sword, the sword is sharpened and furbished.
9 "Filho do homem, profetize e diga: ‘Assim diz o Senhor: " ‘Uma espada, uma espada, afiada e polida;
10 It is sharpened, that it may make sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter. Or shall we make mirth? The staff of my son despiseth every rod.
10 afiada para a mortandade, polida para luzir como relâmpago! " ‘Acaso vamos regozijar-nos com o cetro do meu filho Judá? A espada despreza toda e qualquer vareta como essa.
11 And he gave it to be furbished that it might be handled. The sword is sharpened and furbished, to be given into the hand of the slayer.
11 " ‘A espada foi destinada a ser polida, a ser pega com as mãos; está afiada e polida, preparada para que a maneje a mão do matador.
12 Cry and howl, son of man! for it cometh upon my people, upon all the princes of Israel. They are given up to the sword with my people. Therefore smite upon thy thigh.
12 Clame e grite, filho do homem, pois ela está contra o meu povo; está contra todos os príncipes de Israel. Eles são atirados contra a espada juntamente com o meu povo. Lamente-se, pois; bata no peito.
13 The trial is made. And what if even the contemning staff should be no more? saith the Lord Jehovah.
13 " ‘É certo que a prova virá. E que acontecerá, se o cetro de Judá, que a espada despreza, não continuar a existir?; palavra do Soberano Senhor’.
14 Thou, therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together! for twice, yea thrice, cometh the sword, a sword of slaughter, a sword of great slaughter, that besetteth them on every side.
14 "Por isso profetize, então, filho do homem, e bata as mãos uma na outra. Que a espada golpeie duas vezes, aliás, três vezes. É uma espada para matança, para grande matança, avançando sobre eles de todos os lados.
15 That their hearts may faint, and their overthrown may be multiplied, I have set the terror of the sword against all their gates. Ah, how is it made to glitter, polished for slaughter!
15 Assim, para que os corações se derretam e os caídos sejam muitos, posicionei a espada para a matança junto a todas as suas portas. Ah! Ela foi feita para luzir como relâmpago; é empunhada firmemente para a matança.
16 Unite thyself, smite to the right, prepare thyself, smite to the left, whithersoever thine edge is turned!
16 Ó espada, golpeie para todos os lados, para onde quer que se vire a sua lâmina.
17 I also will smite my hands together, and cause mine anger to cease. I, Jehovah, have spoken it.
17 Eu também baterei minhas mãos uma na outra, e a minha ira diminuirá. Eu, o Senhor, falei".
18 The word of Jehovah came to me again, saying:
18 A palavra do Senhor veio a mim:
19 Do thou, son of man, appoint thee two ways by which the sword of the king of Babylon may come; from one land shall both of them come; and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city.
19 "Filho do homem, trace as duas estradas que a espada do rei da Babilônia deve tomar, as duas partindo da mesma terra. Em cada uma delas coloque um marco indicando o rumo de uma cidade.
20 Appoint a way, that the sword may come towards Rabbath of the sons of Ammon, and towards Judah, to Jerusalem, the fenced city.
20 Trace uma estrada que leve a espada contra Rabá dos amonitas, e a outra contra Judá e contra a Jerusalém fortificada.
21 For the king of Babylon shall stand at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination; he shall shake together his arrows, he shall consult the teraphim, he shall look at the liver.
21 Pois o rei da Babilônia parará no local donde partem as duas estradas para sortear a escolha. Ele lançará a sorte com flechas, consultará os ídolos da família, examinará o fígado.
22 In his right hand shall be the lot: Jerusalem, to set battering-rams, to open the mouth with the war-cry, to lift up the voice in shouting, to set battering-rams against the gates, to cast up a mound, to build a tower.
22 Pela sua mão direita será sorteada Jerusalém, onde deverá preparar aríetes, dar ordens para a matança, soar o grito de guerra, montar aríetes contra as portas, construir uma rampa e levantar obras de cerco.
23 And this shall appear a false divination in their sight, because they swore oaths to them. But he shall call to remembrance their iniquity, that they may be taken.
23 Parecerá um falso presságio aos judeus, que tinham feito uma aliança com juramento, mas o rei invasor os fará recordar sua culpa e os levará prisioneiros.
24 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye make your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear,—because, I say, ye bring yourselves into remembrance, ye shall be taken with that hand.
24 "Portanto, assim diz o Soberano Senhor: ‘Visto que vocês trouxeram à lembrança a sua iniqüidade mediante rebelião ostensiva, revelando seus pecados em tudo o que fazem; porque vocês fizeram isso, serão levados prisioneiros.
25 And thou, profane, wicked prince of Israel, whose day cometh in the time when iniquity bringeth destruction!
25 " ‘Ó ímpio e profano príncipe de Israel, o seu dia chegou, a hora do seu castigo é agora,
26 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will remove the diadem, and take away the crown! This shall no more be this. I exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.
26 assim diz o Soberano Senhor: Tire o turbante e a coroa. Não será como antes: Os humildes serão exaltados, e os exaltados serão humilhados.
27 I will destroy, destroy, destroy it; and it shall be no more until he come to whom the right belongeth, and to whom I will give it.
27 Uma desgraça! Uma desgraça! Eu a farei uma desgraça! Não será restaurada, enquanto não vier aquele a quem ela pertence por direito; a ele eu a darei’.
28 And thou, son of man, prophesy, and say: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the sons of Ammon and their scorn; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn; to slay, to consume, is it furbished, so that it glittereth;
28 "E você, filho do homem, profetize e diga: ‘Assim diz o Soberano Senhor acerca dos amonitas e dos seus insultos: " ‘Uma espada, uma espada, empunhada para matança, polida para consumir e para luzir como relâmpago!
29 while they see deceit for thee, and prophesy falsehood, that it may bring thee to the necks of the wicked that are slain, whose day cometh in the time when iniquity bringeth destruction.
29 A despeito das visões falsas e das adivinhações mentirosas sobre você, ela será posta sobre o pescoço dos ímpios que devem ser mortos e cujo dia chegou, cujo momento de castigo é agora.
30 Return the sword into its sheath! In the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity, I will judge thee,
30 Volte a espada à sua bainha. No lugar onde vocês foram criados, na terra dos seus antepassados, eu os julgarei.
31 and I will pour upon thee my indignation, I will blow upon thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hands of brutal men, skilful to destroy.
31 Derramarei a minha ira sobre vocês, soprarei a minha ira impetuosa contra vocês; eu os entregarei nas mãos de homens brutais, acostumados à destruição.
32 Thou shalt be fuel for the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; men shall no more remember thee. I, Jehovah, have spoken it.
32 Vocês serão combustível para o fogo, seu sangue será derramado em sua terra e você não será mais lembrado; porque eu o Senhor falei’ ".
