Amós 1

1 The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa, which he prophesied concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earth quake. He said:—
1 Palavras que, em visão, vieram a Amós, um pastor da cidade de Tecoa, a respeito de Israel. Isso aconteceu nos dias de Uzias, rei de Judá, e nos dias de Jeroboão, filho de Joás, rei de Israel, dois anos antes do terremoto.
2 Jehovah will roar from Zion, And utter his voice from Jerusalem; The habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, And the top of Carmel shall wither.
2 Amós disse: “O e de Jerusalém fará ouvir a sua voz. Os campos dos pastores estarão de luto, e o alto do Carmelo secará.”
3 Thus saith Jehovah; For three transgressions of Damascus, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; For they thrashed Gilead with thrashing-wains of iron.
3 Assim diz o Senhor : “Por três transgressões de Damasco, sim, por causa de quatro, não suspenderei o castigo. Porque passaram um instrumento de trilhar com pontas de ferro sobre Gileade.
4 I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, Which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
4 Por isso, porei fogo à casa de Hazael, fogo que consumirá as fortalezas de Ben-Hadade.
5 I will also break the bar of Damascus, And I will destroy the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Beth-Eden, And the people of Syria shall be led captive to Kir: Jehovah hath said it.
5 Quebrarei os ferrolhos de Damasco e eliminarei o morador de Biqueate-Áven e o que tem o cetro de Bete-Éden. O povo da Síria será levado em cativeiro a Quir”, diz o
6 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gaza, And for four, I will not turn away its punishment; For they led captive all that fell into their hands, And delivered them up to Edom.
6 Assim diz o Senhor : “Por três transgressões de Gaza, sim, por causa de quatro, não suspenderei o castigo. Porque levaram em cativeiro todo um povo, para entregá-lo a Edom.
7 But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, Which shall devour her palaces.
7 Por isso, porei fogo nas muralhas de Gaza, fogo que consumirá as suas fortalezas.
8 And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, And him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon; And I will turn my hand against Ekron, And the residue of the Philistines shall perish. The Lord, Jehovah, hath said it.
8 Eliminarei o morador de Asdode e o que tem o cetro de Asquelom. Voltarei a minha mão contra Ecrom, e o resto dos filisteus perecerá”, diz o
9 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Tyre, And for four, will I not turn away its punishment; Because they delivered up all their captives to Edom, And remembered not the brotherly covenant.
9 Assim diz o Senhor : “Por três transgressões de Tiro, sim, por causa de quatro, não suspenderei o castigo. Porque levaram em cativeiro todo um povo, para entregá-lo a Edom e não se lembraram da aliança de irmãos.
10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre, Which shall devour her palaces.
10 Por isso, porei fogo nas muralhas de Tiro, fogo que consumirá as suas fortalezas.”
11 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Edom, And for four, will I not turn away his punishment; For he pursued his brother with the sword, And cast off all pity, And his anger tore perpetually; Yea, he kept his wrath forever.
11 Assim diz o Senhor : “Por três transgressões de Edom, sim, por causa de quatro, não suspenderei o castigo. Porque perseguiu o seu irmão com a espada e não teve nenhuma compaixão dele. A sua ira não cessou de despedaçar, e conservou a sua indignação para sempre.
12 But I will send a fire upon Teman. Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
12 Por isso, porei fogo em Temã, fogo que consumirá as fortalezas de Bozra.”
13 Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, And for four, will I not turn away their punishment; For they ripped up the women with child of Gilead, That they might enlarge their border.
13 Assim diz o Senhor : “Por três transgressões dos filhos de Amom, sim, por causa de quatro, não suspenderei o castigo. Porque rasgaram o ventre das grávidas da região de Gileade, para ampliarem as suas fronteiras.
14 But I will kindle a fire on the wall of Rabbah, Which shall devour her palaces, Amid the war-shout in the day of battle, In a whirlwind in the day of the storm.
14 Por isso, porei fogo nas muralhas de Rabá, fogo que consumirá as suas fortalezas, com alarido no dia da batalha, com turbilhão no dia da tempestade.
15 Their king shall go into captivity, He and his princes together, saith Jehovah.
15 O seu rei irá para o cativeiro, ele e os seus príncipes com ele”, diz o
