1 Now in the congregation that was in Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon (the one called Niger), Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch), and Saul.

30 But God raised Him from the dead;

35 Further, it is stated elsewhere,

40 So take care, lest there come upon you that which has been spoken in the prophets:

42 Now as the Jews were going out of the synagogue, the Gentiles implored repeatedlythat these words might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.

43 The synagogue service having been dismissed, many of the Jews and the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who started addressing them, urging them to continue in the grace of God.

44 Well the next Sabbath almost the whole city was gathered to hear the Word of God.

45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with envyand started speaking against the things said by Paul, contradicting andblaspheming.

46 But Paul and Barnabas speaking boldly said: “It was necessary that God's Word should be spoken to you first.But since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life,now we are being turned to the Gentiles.

50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent womenand the chief men of the city, and raised up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their borders.
