1 For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in the things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins,
1 Porque todo sumo sacerdote tomado dentre os homens é ordenado por homens nas coisas pertencentes a Deus, para que ele possa oferecer tanto dons como sacrifícios pelos pecados,
2 being able to deal gently with those who sin in ignorance and go astray, since he himself is also beset with weakness.
2 ele pode ter compaixão pelo ignorante, e por aqueles que estão desviados, porquanto também ele mesmo está rodeado de fraquezas.
3 On account of this he is obligated to offer sacrifices for sins, just as concerning the people, so also concerning himself.
3 E por esta razão ele deve, tanto pelo povo como também por si mesmo, fazer oferta pelos pecados.
4 And no man takes this honor upon himself, but he that is called by God, just as Aaron also was.
4 E nenhum homem toma esta honra para si mesmo, senão quando é chamado por Deus, como o foi Aarão.
5 So also Christ did not exalt Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him:
5 Assim também Cristo não se glorificou a si mesmo, para se tornar um sumo sacerdote, mas o fez aquele que lhe disse: Tu és meu Filho, hoje te gerei.
6 Just as He also says in another place:
6 Como ele diz também em outro lugar: Tu és sacerdote para sempre, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.
7 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up both prayers and supplications, with strong crying and tears to the One who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His reverence,
7 O qual nos dias da sua carne, após ele ter oferecido orações e súplicas com grande clamor e lágrimas àquele que podia livrá-lo da morte, e foi ouvido quanto ao que temia;
8 though He was a Son, He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.
8 embora ele fosse um Filho, aprendeu a obediência por meio das coisas que sofreu;
9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
9 e tendo sido aperfeiçoado, ele tornou-se o autor de eterna salvação para todos os que lhe obedecem,
10 having been designated by God a High Priest “after the order of Melchizedek,”
10 chamado por Deus de sumo sacerdote, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.
11 concerning whom we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing.
11 Sobre quem temos muito o que dizer, mas de difícil enunciação, porquanto vós sois tardios em ouvir.
12 For indeed, although you ought to be teachers by this time, again you have need for someone to teach you what are the elements of the beginning of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
12 Porque quando já devíeis ser mestres, necessitais de que se vos torne a ensinar os princípios básicos dos oráculos de Deus, e chegastes ao ponto de precisardes de leite, e não de alimento sólido.
13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unacquainted with the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
13 Porque qualquer que se alimenta de leite é inexperiente na palavra da justiça, porquanto é um bebê.
14 But solid food is for the mature, for those because of their practice have their senses trained for the distinguishing of both good and evil.
14 Mas o alimento sólido pertence àqueles que alcançaram a maturidade, e também para aqueles que, pela razão do uso, tiveram seus sentidos exercitados para o discernimento tanto do bem quanto do mal.
