1 Except the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* build|strong="H1129" the house|strong="H1004", they labour|strong="H5998" in vain|strong="H7723" that build|strong="H1129" it: except the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* keep|strong="H8104" the city|strong="H5892", the watchman|strong="H8104" waketh|strong="H8245" but in vain|strong="H7723".
1 Se o Senhor não edificar a casa, em vão trabalham os que a edificam; se o Senhor não guardar a cidade, em vão vigia a sentinela.
2 It is vain|strong="H7723" for you to rise up|strong="H6965" early|strong="H7925", to sit up|strong="H3427" late|strong="H0309", to eat|strong="H0398" the bread|strong="H3899" of sorrows|strong="H6089": for so he giveth|strong="H5414" his beloved|strong="H3039" sleep|strong="H8142".
2 Inútil vos será levantar de madrugada, repousar tarde, comer o pão de dores, pois ele supre aos seus amados enquanto dormem.
3 Lo, children|strong="H1121" are an heritage|strong="H5159" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and the fruit|strong="H6529" of the womb|strong="H0990" is his reward|strong="H7939".
3 Eis que os filhos são herança da parte do Senhor, e o fruto do ventre o seu galardão.
4 As arrows|strong="H2671" are in the hand|strong="H3027" of a mighty man|strong="H1368"; so are children|strong="H1121" of the youth|strong="H5271".
4 Como flechas na mão dum homem valente, assim os filhos da mocidade.
5 Happy|strong="H0835" is the man|strong="H1397" that hath his quiver|strong="H0827" full|strong="H4390" of them: they shall not be ashamed|strong="H0954", but they shall speak|strong="H1696" with the enemies|strong="H0341" in the gate|strong="H8179".
5 Bem-aventurado o homem que enche deles a sua aljava; não serão confundidos, quando falarem com os seus inimigos à porta.
