Naum 1

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

The burden|strong="H4853" of Nineveh|strong="H5210". The book|strong="H5612" of the vision|strong="H2377" of Nahum|strong="H5151" the Elkoshite|strong="H0512".

God|strong="H0410" is jealous|strong="H7072", and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* revengeth|strong="H5358"; the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* revengeth|strong="H5358", and is furious|strong="H1167"; the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will take vengeance|strong="H5358" on his adversaries|strong="H6862", and he reserveth|strong="H5201" wrath for his enemies|strong="H0341".

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is slow|strong="H0750" to anger|strong="H0639", and great|strong="H1419" in power|strong="H3581", and will not at all|strong="H5352" acquit|strong="H5352" the wicked: the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath his way|strong="H1870" in the whirlwind|strong="H5492" and in the storm|strong="H8183", and the clouds|strong="H6051" are the dust|strong="H0080" of his feet|strong="H7272".

He rebuketh|strong="H1605" the sea|strong="H3220", and maketh it dry|strong="H2717", and drieth up|strong="H3001" all the rivers|strong="H5104": Bashan|strong="H1316" languisheth|strong="H0535", and Carmel|strong="H3760", and the flower|strong="H6525" of Lebanon|strong="H3844" languisheth|strong="H0535".

The mountains|strong="H2022" quake|strong="H7493" at him, and the hills|strong="H1389" melt|strong="H4127", and the earth|strong="H0776" is burned|strong="H5375" at his presence|strong="H6440", yea, the world|strong="H8398", and all that dwell|strong="H3427" therein.

Who can stand|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" his indignation|strong="H2195"? and who can abide|strong="H6965" in the fierceness|strong="H2740" of his anger|strong="H0639"? his fury|strong="H2534" is poured out|strong="H5413" like fire|strong="H0784", and the rocks|strong="H6697" are thrown down|strong="H5422" by him.

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is good|strong="H2896", a strong hold|strong="H4581" in the day|strong="H3117" of trouble|strong="H6869"; and he knoweth|strong="H3045" them that trust|strong="H2620" in him.

But with an overrunning|strong="H5674" flood|strong="H7858" he will make|strong="H6213" an utter end|strong="H3617" of the place|strong="H4725" thereof, and darkness|strong="H2822" shall pursue|strong="H7291" his enemies|strong="H0341".

What do ye imagine|strong="H2803" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*? he will make|strong="H6213" an utter end|strong="H3617": affliction|strong="H6869" shall not rise up|strong="H6965" the second time|strong="H6471".

For while they be folden together|strong="H5440" as thorns|strong="H5518", and while they are drunken|strong="H5433" as drunkards|strong="H5435", they shall be devoured|strong="H0398" as stubble|strong="H7179" fully|strong="H4392" dry|strong="H3002".

There is one come out|strong="H3318" of thee, that imagineth|strong="H2803" evil|strong="H7451" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, a wicked|strong="H1100" counsellor|strong="H3289".

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Though they be quiet|strong="H8003", and likewise many|strong="H7227", yet thus shall they be cut down|strong="H1494", when he shall pass through|strong="H5674". Though I have afflicted|strong="H6031" thee, I will afflict|strong="H6031" thee no more.

For now will I break|strong="H7665" his yoke|strong="H4132" from off thee, and will burst|strong="H5423" thy bonds|strong="H4147" in sunder|strong="H5423".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath given a commandment|strong="H6680" concerning thee, that no more of thy name|strong="H8034" be sown|strong="H2232": out of the house|strong="H1004" of thy gods|strong="H0430" will I cut off|strong="H3772" the graven image|strong="H6459" and the molten image|strong="H4541": I will make|strong="H7760" thy grave|strong="H6913"; for thou art vile|strong="H7043".

Behold upon the mountains|strong="H2022" the feet|strong="H7272" of him that bringeth good tidings|strong="H1319", that publisheth|strong="H8085" peace|strong="H7965"! O Judah|strong="H3063", keep|strong="H2287" thy solemn feasts|strong="H2282", perform|strong="H7999" thy vows|strong="H5088": for the wicked|strong="H1100" shall no more|strong="H3254" pass through|strong="H5674" thee; he is utterly cut off|strong="H3772".
