2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,

3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come.

4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast.
5 \+w But|strong="G1161"\+w* \+w they made light of|strong="G0272"\+w* \+add it\+add*, \+w and went their ways|strong="G0565"\+w*, \+w one|strong="G3588"\+w* \+w to|strong="G1519"\+w* \+w his|strong="G2398"\+w* \+w farm|strong="G0068"\+w*, \+w another|strong="G3588"\+w* \+w to|strong="G1519"\+w* \+w his|strong="G0846"\+w* \+w merchandise|strong="G1711"\+w*:
5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce.

6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew {them}.

7 And {when} the king {heard of it he} was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8 \+w Then|strong="G5119"\+w* \+w saith he|strong="G3004"\+w* \+w to|strong="G1401"\+w* \+w his|strong="G0846"\+w* \+w servants|strong="G1401"\+w*, \+w The wedding|strong="G1062"\+w* \+w is|strong="G2076"\+w* \+w ready|strong="G2092"\+w*, \+w but|strong="G1161"\+w* \+w they which were bidden|strong="G2564"\+w* \+w were|strong="G2258"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3756"\+w* \+w worthy|strong="G0514"\+w*.
8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy;

9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast.

10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests.

11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment.

12 And he says to him, {My} friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless.

13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
14 \+w For|strong="G1063"\+w* \+w many|strong="G4183"\+w* \+w are|strong="G1526"\+w* \+w called|strong="G2822"\+w*, \+w but|strong="G1161"\+w* \+w few|strong="G3641"\+w* \+add are\+add* \+w chosen|strong="G1588"\+w*.
14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
15 Then|strong="G5119" went|strong="G4198" the Pharisees|strong="G5330", and took|strong="G2983" counsel|strong="G4824" how|strong="G3704" they might entangle|strong="G3802" him|strong="G0846" in|strong="G1722" his talk|strong="G3056".

16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men's person;
17 Tell|strong="G2036" us|strong="G2254" therefore|strong="G3767", What|strong="G5101" thinkest|strong="G1380" thou|strong="G4671"? Is it lawful|strong="G1832" to give|strong="G1325" tribute|strong="G2778" unto Caesar|strong="G2541", or|strong="G2228" not|strong="G3756"?
17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
18 But|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G2424" perceived|strong="G1097" their|strong="G0846" wickedness|strong="G4189", and said|strong="G2036", \+w Why|strong="G5101"\+w* \+w tempt ye|strong="G3985"\+w* \+w me|strong="G3165"\+w*, \+add ye\+add* \+w hypocrites|strong="G5273"\+w*?
18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites?
19 \+w Shew|strong="G1925"\+w* \+w me|strong="G3427"\+w* \+w the tribute|strong="G2778"\+w* \+w money|strong="G3546"\+w*. And|strong="G1161" they brought|strong="G4374" unto him|strong="G0846" a penny|strong="G1220".
19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius.
20 And|strong="G2532" he saith|strong="G3004" unto them|strong="G0846", \+w Whose|strong="G5101"\+w* \+add is\+add* \+w this|strong="G3778"\+w* \+w image|strong="G1504"\+w* \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w superscription|strong="G1923"\+w*?
20 And he says to them, Whose {is} this image and superscription?
21 They say|strong="G3004" unto him|strong="G0846", Cæsar’s|strong="G2541". Then|strong="G5119" saith he|strong="G3004" unto them|strong="G0846", \+w Render|strong="G0591"\+w* \+w therefore|strong="G3767"\+w* \+w unto Cæsar|strong="G2541"\+w* \+w the things which are Cæsar’s|strong="G2541"\+w*; \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w unto God|strong="G2316"\+w* \+w the things that are God’s|strong="G2316"\+w*.
21 They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar's to Caesar, and what is God's to God.
22 When|strong="G2532" they had heard|strong="G0191" these words, they marvelled|strong="G2296", and|strong="G2532" left|strong="G0863" him|strong="G0846", and went their way|strong="G0565".
22 And when they heard {him}, they wondered, and left him, and went away.
23 The|strong="G2250" same|strong="G1565" day|strong="G2250" came|strong="G4334" to him|strong="G0846" the Sadducees|strong="G4523", which say that|strong="G3004" there is|strong="G1511" no|strong="G3361" resurrection|strong="G0386", and|strong="G2532" asked|strong="G1905" him|strong="G0846",

24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother.
25 Now|strong="G1161" there were|strong="G2258" with|strong="G3844" us|strong="G2254" seven|strong="G2033" brethren|strong="G0080": and|strong="G2532" the first|strong="G4413", when he had married a wife|strong="G1060", deceased|strong="G5053", and|strong="G2532", having|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3361" issue|strong="G4690", left|strong="G0863" his|strong="G0846" wife|strong="G1135" unto|strong="G0080" his|strong="G0846" brother|strong="G0080":
25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother.
26 Likewise|strong="G3668" the second|strong="G1208" also|strong="G2532", and|strong="G2532" the third|strong="G5154", unto|strong="G2193" the seventh|strong="G2033".
26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven.
27 And|strong="G1161" last|strong="G5305" of all|strong="G3956" the woman|strong="G1135" died|strong="G0599" also|strong="G2532".
27 And last of all the woman also died.
28 Therefore|strong="G3767" in|strong="G1722" the resurrection|strong="G0386" whose|strong="G5101" wife|strong="G1135" shall she be|strong="G2071" of the seven|strong="G2033"? for|strong="G1063" they|strong="G2192" all|strong="G3956" had|strong="G2192" her|strong="G0846".
28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her?
29 Jesus|strong="G2424" answered|strong="G0611" and said|strong="G2036" unto them|strong="G0846", \+w Ye do err|strong="G4105"\+w*, \+w not|strong="G3361"\+w* \+w knowing|strong="G1492"\+w* \+w the scriptures|strong="G1124"\+w*, \+w nor|strong="G3366"\+w* \+w the power|strong="G1411"\+w* \+w of God|strong="G2316"\+w*.
29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.

30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven.

31 Quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, não lestes o que Deus vos disse:

32 Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaac e o Deus de Jacó {Ex 3,6}? Ora, ele não é Deus dos mortos, mas Deus dos vivos.

34 Sabendo os fariseus que Jesus reduzira ao silêncio os saduceus, reuniram-se

35 e um deles, doutor da lei, fez-lhe esta pergunta para pô-lo à prova:
36 Master|strong="G1320", which|strong="G4169" is the|strong="G1785" great|strong="G3173" commandment|strong="G1785" in|strong="G1722" the law|strong="G3551"?
36 Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da lei?
37 Jesus|strong="G2424" said|strong="G2036" unto him|strong="G0846", \+w Thou shalt love|strong="G0025"\+w* \+w the Lord|strong="G2962"\+w* \+w thy|strong="G4675"\+w* \+w God|strong="G2316"\+w* \+w with|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w all|strong="G3650"\+w* \+w thy|strong="G4675"\+w* \+w heart|strong="G2588"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w with|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w all|strong="G3650"\+w* \+w thy|strong="G4675"\+w* \+w soul|strong="G5590"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w with|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w all|strong="G3650"\+w* \+w thy|strong="G4675"\+w* \+w mind|strong="G1271"\+w*.
37 Respondeu Jesus: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo teu coração, de toda tua alma e de todo teu espírito {Dt 6,5}.

38 Este é o maior e o primeiro mandamento.

39 E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás teu próximo como a ti mesmo {Lv 19,18}.

40 Nesses dois mandamentos se resumem toda a lei e os profetas.

41 Como os fariseus se agrupassem, Jesus interrogou-os:

42 Que pensais vós de Cristo? De quem é filho? Responderam: De Davi!

43 Como então, prosseguiu Jesus, Davi, falando sob inspiração do Espírito, chama-o Senhor, dizendo:

45 Se, pois, Davi o chama Senhor, como é ele seu filho?
