1 And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah|strong="H3414" had made an end|strong="H3615" of speaking|strong="H1696" unto all the people|strong="H5971" all the words|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430", for which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430" had sent|strong="H7971" him to them, even all these words|strong="H1697",
2 Then spake|strong="H0559" Azariah|strong="H5838" the son|strong="H1121" of Hoshaiah|strong="H1955", and Johanan|strong="H3110" the son|strong="H1121" of Kareah|strong="H7143", and all the proud|strong="H2086" men|strong="H0582", saying|strong="H0559" unto Jeremiah|strong="H3414", Thou speakest|strong="H1696" falsely|strong="H8267": the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430" hath not sent|strong="H7971" thee to say|strong="H0559", Go|strong="H0935" not into Egypt|strong="H4714" to sojourn|strong="H1481" there:
3 But Baruch|strong="H1263" the son|strong="H1121" of Neriah|strong="H5374" setteth thee on|strong="H5496" against us, for to|strong="H4616" deliver|strong="H5414" us into the hand|strong="H3027" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", that they might put us to death|strong="H4191", and carry us away captives|strong="H1540" into Babylon|strong="H0894".
4 So Johanan|strong="H3110" the son|strong="H1121" of Kareah|strong="H7143", and all the captains|strong="H8269" of the forces|strong="H2428", and all the people|strong="H5971", obeyed|strong="H8085" not the voice|strong="H6963" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, to dwell|strong="H3427" in the land|strong="H0776" of Judah|strong="H3063".
5 But Johanan|strong="H3110" the son|strong="H1121" of Kareah|strong="H7143", and all the captains|strong="H8269" of the forces|strong="H2428", took|strong="H3947" all the remnant|strong="H7611" of Judah|strong="H3063", that were returned|strong="H7725" from all nations|strong="H1471", whither they had been driven|strong="H5080", to dwell|strong="H1481" in the land|strong="H0776" of Judah|strong="H3063";
6 Even men|strong="H1397", and women|strong="H0802", and children|strong="H2945", and the king’s|strong="H4428" daughters|strong="H1323", and every person|strong="H5315" that Nebuzar-adan|strong="H5018" the captain|strong="H7227" of the guard|strong="H2876" had left|strong="H3240" with Gedaliah|strong="H1436" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahikam|strong="H0296" the son|strong="H1121" of Shaphan|strong="H8227", and Jeremiah|strong="H3414" the prophet|strong="H5030", and Baruch|strong="H1263" the son|strong="H1121" of Neriah|strong="H5374".
7 So they came|strong="H0935" into the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714": for they obeyed|strong="H8085" not the voice|strong="H6963" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: thus came|strong="H0935" they even to Tahpanhes|strong="H8471".
8 Then came the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* unto Jeremiah|strong="H3414" in Tahpanhes|strong="H8471", saying|strong="H0559",
9 Take|strong="H3947" great|strong="H1419" stones|strong="H0068" in thine hand|strong="H3027", and hide|strong="H2934" them in the clay|strong="H4423" in the brickkiln|strong="H4404", which is at the entry|strong="H6607" of Pharaoh’s|strong="H6547" house|strong="H1004" in Tahpanhes|strong="H8471", in the sight|strong="H5869" of the men|strong="H0582" of Judah|strong="H3064";
10 And say|strong="H0559" unto them, Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"; Behold, I will send|strong="H7971" and take|strong="H3947" Nebuchadrezzar|strong="H5019" the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", my servant|strong="H5650", and will set|strong="H7760" his throne|strong="H3678" upon|strong="H4605" these stones|strong="H0068" that I have hid|strong="H2934"; and he shall spread|strong="H5186" his royal pavilion|strong="H8237" over them.
11 And when he cometh|strong="H0935", he shall smite|strong="H5221" the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", and deliver such as are for death|strong="H4194" to death|strong="H4194"; and such as are for captivity|strong="H7628" to captivity|strong="H7628"; and such as are for the sword|strong="H2719" to the sword|strong="H2719".
12 And I will kindle|strong="H3341" a fire|strong="H0784" in the houses|strong="H1004" of the gods|strong="H0430" of Egypt|strong="H4714"; and he shall burn|strong="H8313" them, and carry them away captives|strong="H7617": and he shall array|strong="H5844" himself with the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", as a shepherd|strong="H7462" putteth on|strong="H5844" his garment|strong="H0899"; and he shall go forth|strong="H3318" from thence in peace|strong="H7965".
13 He shall break|strong="H7665" also the images|strong="H4676" of Beth-shemesh|strong="H1053", that is in the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714"; and the houses|strong="H1004" of the gods|strong="H0430" of the Egyptians|strong="H4714" shall he burn|strong="H8313" with fire|strong="H0784".
