Hear|strong="H8085" ye the word|strong="H1697" which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* speaketh|strong="H1696" unto you, O house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478":
Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Learn|strong="H3925" not the way|strong="H1870" of the heathen|strong="H1471", and be not dismayed|strong="H2865" at the signs|strong="H0226" of heaven|strong="H8064"; for the heathen|strong="H1471" are dismayed|strong="H2865" at them|strong="H1992".
For the customs|strong="H2708" of the people|strong="H5971" are vain|strong="H1892": for one cutteth|strong="H3772" a tree|strong="H6086" out of the forest|strong="H3293", the work|strong="H4639" of the hands|strong="H3027" of the workman|strong="H2796", with the axe|strong="H4621".
They deck|strong="H3302" it with silver|strong="H3701" and with gold|strong="H2091"; they fasten|strong="H2388" it with nails|strong="H4548" and with hammers|strong="H4717", that it move|strong="H6328" not.
They are upright|strong="H4749" as the palm tree|strong="H8560", but speak|strong="H1696" not: they must needs|strong="H5375" be borne|strong="H5375", because they cannot go|strong="H6805". Be not afraid|strong="H3372" of them; for they cannot do evil|strong="H7489", neither also is it in them to do good|strong="H3190".
Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; thou art great|strong="H1419", and thy name|strong="H8034" is great|strong="H1419" in might|strong="H1369".
Who would not fear|strong="H3372" thee, O King|strong="H4428" of nations|strong="H1471"? for to thee doth it appertain|strong="H2969": forasmuch as among all the wise|strong="H2450" men of the nations|strong="H1471", and in all their kingdoms|strong="H4438", there is none like unto thee.
But they are altogether|strong="H0259" brutish|strong="H1197" and foolish|strong="H3688": the stock|strong="H6086" is a doctrine|strong="H4148" of vanities|strong="H1892".
Silver|strong="H3701" spread into plates|strong="H7554" is brought|strong="H0935" from Tarshish|strong="H8659", and gold|strong="H2091" from Uphaz|strong="H0210", the work|strong="H4639" of the workman|strong="H2796", and of the hands|strong="H3027" of the founder|strong="H6884": blue|strong="H8504" and purple|strong="H0713" is their clothing|strong="H3830": they are all the work|strong="H4639" of cunning|strong="H2450" men.
But the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is the true|strong="H0571" God|strong="H0430", he is the living|strong="H2416" God|strong="H0430", and an everlasting|strong="H5769" king|strong="H4428": at his wrath|strong="H7110" the earth|strong="H0776" shall tremble|strong="H7493", and the nations|strong="H1471" shall not be able to abide|strong="H3557" his indignation|strong="H2195".
Thus|strong="H1836" shall ye say|strong="H0560" unto them, The gods|strong="H0426" that have not|strong="H3809" made|strong="H5648" the heavens|strong="H8065" and the earth|strong="H0778", even they shall perish|strong="H0007" from the earth|strong="H0772", and from under|strong="H8460" these|strong="H0429" heavens|strong="H8065".
He hath made|strong="H6213" the earth|strong="H0776" by his power|strong="H3581", he hath established|strong="H3559" the world|strong="H8398" by his wisdom|strong="H2451", and hath stretched out|strong="H5186" the heavens|strong="H8064" by his discretion|strong="H8394".
When he uttereth|strong="H5414" his voice|strong="H6963", there is a multitude|strong="H1995" of waters|strong="H4325" in the heavens|strong="H8064", and he causeth the vapours|strong="H5387" to ascend|strong="H5927" from the ends|strong="H7097" of the earth|strong="H0776"; he maketh|strong="H6213" lightnings|strong="H1300" with rain|strong="H4306", and bringeth forth|strong="H3318" the wind|strong="H7307" out of his treasures|strong="H0214".
Every man|strong="H0120" is brutish|strong="H1197" in his knowledge|strong="H1847": every founder|strong="H6884" is confounded|strong="H3001" by the graven image|strong="H6459": for his molten image|strong="H5262" is falsehood|strong="H8267", and there is no breath|strong="H7307" in them.
They are vanity|strong="H1892", and the work|strong="H4639" of errors|strong="H8595": in the time|strong="H6256" of their visitation|strong="H6486" they shall perish|strong="H0006".
The portion|strong="H2506" of Jacob|strong="H3290" is not like them: for he is the former|strong="H3335" of all things; and Israel|strong="H3478" is the rod|strong="H7626" of his inheritance|strong="H5159": The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635" is his name|strong="H8034".
Gather up|strong="H0622" thy wares|strong="H3666" out of the land|strong="H0776", O inhabitant|strong="H3427" of the fortress|strong="H4692".
For thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Behold, I will sling|strong="H7049" out the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of the land|strong="H0776" at this once|strong="H6471", and will distress|strong="H6887" them, that they may find|strong="H4672" it so.
Woe|strong="H0188" is me for my hurt|strong="H7667"! my wound|strong="H4347" is grievous|strong="H2470": but I said|strong="H0559", Truly|strong="H0389" this is a grief|strong="H2483", and I must bear|strong="H5375" it.
My tabernacle|strong="H0168" is spoiled|strong="H7703", and all my cords|strong="H4340" are broken|strong="H5423": my children|strong="H1121" are gone forth|strong="H3318" of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth|strong="H5186" my tent|strong="H0168" any more, and to set up|strong="H6965" my curtains|strong="H3407".
For the pastors|strong="H7462" are become brutish|strong="H1197", and have not sought|strong="H1875" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: therefore they shall not prosper|strong="H7919", and all their flocks|strong="H4830" shall be scattered|strong="H6327".
Behold, the noise|strong="H6963" of the bruit|strong="H8052" is come|strong="H0935", and a great|strong="H1419" commotion|strong="H7494" out of the north|strong="H6828" country|strong="H0776", to make|strong="H7760" the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063" desolate|strong="H8077", and a den|strong="H4583" of dragons|strong="H8577".
O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, I know|strong="H3045" that the way|strong="H1870" of man|strong="H0120" is not in himself: it is not in man|strong="H0376" that walketh|strong="H1980" to direct|strong="H3559" his steps|strong="H6806".
O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, correct|strong="H3256" me, but with judgment|strong="H4941"; not in thine anger|strong="H0639", lest thou bring me to nothing|strong="H4591".
Pour out|strong="H8210" thy fury|strong="H2534" upon the heathen|strong="H1471" that know|strong="H3045" thee not, and upon the families|strong="H4940" that call|strong="H7121" not on thy name|strong="H8034": for they have eaten up|strong="H0398" Jacob|strong="H3290", and devoured|strong="H0398" him, and consumed|strong="H3615" him, and have made his habitation|strong="H5116" desolate|strong="H8074".
