Jó 31

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

I made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with mine eyes|strong="H5869"; why then should I think|strong="H0995" upon a maid|strong="H1330"?

For what portion|strong="H2506" of God|strong="H0433" is there from above|strong="H4605"? and what inheritance|strong="H5159" of the Almighty|strong="H7706" from on high|strong="H4791"?

Is not destruction|strong="H0343" to the wicked|strong="H5767"? and a strange|strong="H5235" punishment to the workers|strong="H6466" of iniquity|strong="H0205"?

Doth not he see|strong="H7200" my ways|strong="H1870", and count|strong="H5608" all my steps|strong="H6806"?

If I have walked|strong="H1980" with vanity|strong="H7723", or if my foot|strong="H7272" hath hasted|strong="H2363" to deceit|strong="H4820";

Let me be weighed|strong="H8254" in an even|strong="H6664" balance|strong="H3976", that God|strong="H0433" may know|strong="H3045" mine integrity|strong="H8538".

If my step|strong="H0838" hath turned out|strong="H5186" of the way|strong="H1870", and mine heart|strong="H3820" walked|strong="H1980" after|strong="H0310" mine eyes|strong="H5869", and if any blot|strong="H3971" hath cleaved|strong="H1692" to mine hands|strong="H3709";

Then let me sow|strong="H2232", and let another|strong="H0312" eat|strong="H0398"; yea, let my offspring|strong="H6631" be rooted out|strong="H8327".

If mine heart|strong="H3820" have been deceived|strong="H6601" by a woman|strong="H0802", or if I have laid wait|strong="H0693" at my neighbour’s|strong="H7453" door|strong="H6607";

Then let my wife|strong="H0802" grind|strong="H2912" unto another|strong="H0312", and let others|strong="H0312" bow down|strong="H3766" upon her.

For this is an heinous crime|strong="H2154"; yea, it is an iniquity|strong="H5771" to be punished by the judges|strong="H6414".

For it is a fire|strong="H0784" that consumeth|strong="H0398" to destruction|strong="H0011", and would root out|strong="H8327" all mine increase|strong="H8393".

If I did despise|strong="H3988" the cause|strong="H4941" of my manservant|strong="H5650" or of my maidservant|strong="H0519", when they contended|strong="H7379" with me;

What then shall I do|strong="H6213" when God|strong="H0410" riseth up|strong="H6965"? and when he visiteth|strong="H6485", what shall I answer|strong="H7725" him?

Did not he that made|strong="H6213" me in the womb|strong="H0990" make|strong="H6213" him? and did not one|strong="H0259" fashion|strong="H3559" us in the womb|strong="H7358"?

If I have withheld|strong="H4513" the poor|strong="H1800" from their desire|strong="H2656", or have caused the eyes|strong="H5869" of the widow|strong="H0490" to fail|strong="H3615";

Or have eaten|strong="H0398" my morsel|strong="H6595" myself alone, and the fatherless|strong="H3490" hath not eaten|strong="H0398" thereof;

(For from my youth|strong="H5271" he was brought up|strong="H1431" with me, as with a father|strong="H0001", and I have guided|strong="H5148" her from my mother’s|strong="H0517" womb|strong="H0990";)

If I have seen|strong="H7200" any perish|strong="H0006" for want of clothing|strong="H3830", or any poor|strong="H0034" without covering|strong="H3682";

If his loins|strong="H2504" have not blessed|strong="H1288" me, and if he were not warmed|strong="H2552" with the fleece|strong="H1488" of my sheep|strong="H3532";

If I have lifted up|strong="H5130" my hand|strong="H3027" against the fatherless|strong="H3490", when I saw|strong="H7200" my help|strong="H5833" in the gate|strong="H8179":

Then let mine arm|strong="H3802" fall|strong="H5307" from my shoulder blade|strong="H7929", and mine arm|strong="H0248" be broken|strong="H7665" from the bone|strong="H7070".

For destruction|strong="H0343" from God|strong="H0410" was a terror|strong="H6343" to me, and by reason of his highness|strong="H7613" I could|strong="H3201" not endure.

If I have made|strong="H7760" gold|strong="H2091" my hope|strong="H3689", or have said|strong="H0559" to the fine gold|strong="H3800", Thou art my confidence|strong="H4009";

If I rejoiced|strong="H8055" because my wealth|strong="H2428" was great|strong="H7227", and because mine hand|strong="H3027" had gotten|strong="H4672" much|strong="H3524";

If I beheld|strong="H7200" the sun|strong="H0216" when it shined|strong="H1984", or the moon|strong="H3394" walking|strong="H1980" in brightness|strong="H3368";

And my heart|strong="H3820" hath been secretly|strong="H5643" enticed|strong="H6601", or my mouth|strong="H6310" hath kissed|strong="H5401" my hand|strong="H3027":

This also were an iniquity|strong="H5771" to be punished by the judge|strong="H6416": for I should have denied|strong="H3584" the God|strong="H0410" that is above|strong="H4605".

If I rejoiced|strong="H8055" at the destruction|strong="H6365" of him that hated|strong="H8130" me, or lifted up|strong="H5782" myself when evil|strong="H7451" found|strong="H4672" him:

Neither have I suffered|strong="H5414" my mouth|strong="H2441" to sin|strong="H2398" by wishing|strong="H7592" a curse|strong="H0423" to his soul|strong="H5315".

If the men|strong="H4962" of my tabernacle|strong="H0168" said|strong="H0559" not, Oh that we had|strong="H5414" of his flesh|strong="H1320"! we cannot be satisfied|strong="H7646".

The stranger|strong="H1616" did not lodge|strong="H3885" in the street|strong="H2351": but I opened|strong="H6605" my doors|strong="H1817" to the traveller|strong="H0734".

If I covered|strong="H3680" my transgressions|strong="H6588" as Adam|strong="H0121", by hiding|strong="H2934" mine iniquity|strong="H5771" in my bosom|strong="H2243":

Did I fear|strong="H6206" a great|strong="H7227" multitude|strong="H1995", or did the contempt|strong="H0937" of families|strong="H4940" terrify|strong="H2865" me, that I kept silence|strong="H1826", and went not out|strong="H3318" of the door|strong="H6607"?

Oh that|strong="H5414" one would hear|strong="H8085" me! behold, my desire|strong="H8420" is, that the Almighty|strong="H7706" would answer|strong="H6030" me, and that mine adversary|strong="H0376" had written|strong="H3789" a book|strong="H5612".

Surely I would take|strong="H5375" it upon my shoulder|strong="H7926", and bind|strong="H6029" it as a crown|strong="H5850" to me.

I would declare|strong="H5046" unto him the number|strong="H4557" of my steps|strong="H6806"; as a prince|strong="H5057" would I go near|strong="H7126" unto him.

If my land|strong="H0127" cry|strong="H2199" against me, or that the furrows|strong="H8525" likewise|strong="H3162" thereof complain|strong="H1058";

If I have eaten|strong="H0398" the fruits|strong="H3581" thereof without money|strong="H3701", or have caused the owners|strong="H1167" thereof to lose|strong="H5301" their life|strong="H5315":

Let thistles|strong="H2336" grow|strong="H3318" instead of wheat|strong="H2406", and cockle|strong="H0890" instead of barley|strong="H8184". The words|strong="H1697" of Job|strong="H0347" are ended|strong="H8552".
