Again there was a day|strong="H3117" when the sons|strong="H1121" of God|strong="H0430" came|strong="H0935" to present|strong="H3320" themselves before the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and Satan|strong="H7854" came|strong="H0935" also among|strong="H8432" them to present|strong="H3320" himself before the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Satan|strong="H7854", From whence|strong="H0335" comest|strong="H0935" thou? And Satan|strong="H7854" answered|strong="H6030" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", From going to and fro|strong="H7751" in the earth|strong="H0776", and from walking up and down|strong="H1980" in it.
And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Satan|strong="H7854", Hast thou|strong="H7760" considered|strong="H3820" my servant|strong="H5650" Job|strong="H0347", that there is none like him in the earth|strong="H0776", a perfect|strong="H8535" and an upright|strong="H3477" man|strong="H0376", one that feareth|strong="H3373" God|strong="H0430", and escheweth|strong="H5493" evil|strong="H7451"? and still he holdeth fast|strong="H2388" his integrity|strong="H8538", although thou movedst|strong="H5496" me against him, to destroy|strong="H1104" him without cause|strong="H2600".
And Satan|strong="H7854" answered|strong="H6030" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559", Skin|strong="H5785" for skin|strong="H5785", yea, all that a man|strong="H0376" hath will he give|strong="H5414" for his life|strong="H5315".
But|strong="H0199" put forth|strong="H7971" thine hand|strong="H3027" now, and touch|strong="H5060" his bone|strong="H6106" and his flesh|strong="H1320", and he will curse|strong="H1288" thee to thy face|strong="H6440".
And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Satan|strong="H7854", Behold, he is in thine hand|strong="H3027"; but save|strong="H8104" his life|strong="H5315".
So went|strong="H3318" Satan|strong="H7854" forth|strong="H3318" from the presence|strong="H6440" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and smote|strong="H5221" Job|strong="H0347" with sore|strong="H7451" boils|strong="H7822" from the sole|strong="H3709" of his foot|strong="H7272" unto his crown|strong="H6936".
And he took|strong="H3947" him a potsherd|strong="H2789" to scrape|strong="H1623" himself withal; and he sat down|strong="H3427" among|strong="H8432" the ashes|strong="H0665".
Then said|strong="H0559" his wife|strong="H0802" unto him, Dost thou still retain|strong="H2388" thine integrity|strong="H8538"? curse|strong="H1288" God|strong="H0430", and die|strong="H4191".
But he said|strong="H0559" unto her, Thou speakest|strong="H1696" as one|strong="H0259" of the foolish women|strong="H5036" speaketh|strong="H1696". What|strong="H1571"? shall we receive|strong="H6901" good|strong="H2896" at the hand of God|strong="H0430", and shall we not receive|strong="H6901" evil|strong="H7451"? In all this did not Job|strong="H0347" sin|strong="H2398" with his lips|strong="H8193".
Now when Job’s|strong="H0347" three|strong="H7969" friends|strong="H7453" heard|strong="H8085" of all this evil|strong="H7451" that was come|strong="H0935" upon him, they came|strong="H0935" every one|strong="H0376" from his own place|strong="H4725"; Eliphaz|strong="H0464" the Temanite|strong="H8489", and Bildad|strong="H1085" the Shuhite|strong="H7747", and Zophar|strong="H6691" the Naamathite|strong="H5284": for they had made an appointment|strong="H3259" together|strong="H3162" to come|strong="H0935" to mourn|strong="H5110" with him and to comfort|strong="H5162" him.
And when they lifted up|strong="H5375" their eyes|strong="H5869" afar off|strong="H7350", and knew|strong="H5234" him not, they lifted up|strong="H5375" their voice|strong="H6963", and wept|strong="H1058"; and they rent|strong="H7167" every one|strong="H0376" his mantle|strong="H4598", and sprinkled|strong="H2236" dust|strong="H6083" upon their heads|strong="H7218" toward heaven|strong="H8064".
So they sat down|strong="H3427" with him upon the ground|strong="H0776" seven|strong="H7651" days|strong="H3117" and seven|strong="H7651" nights|strong="H3915", and none spake|strong="H1696" a word|strong="H1697" unto him: for they saw|strong="H7200" that his grief|strong="H3511" was very|strong="H3966" great|strong="H1431".
