3 And dost thou open|strong="H6491" thine eyes|strong="H5869" upon such an one|strong="H2088", and bringest|strong="H0935" me into judgment|strong="H4941" with thee?
4 Who can bring|strong="H5414" a clean|strong="H2889" thing out of an unclean|strong="H2931"? not one|strong="H0259".
5 Seeing|strong="H0518" his days|strong="H3117" are determined|strong="H2782", the number|strong="H4557" of his months|strong="H2320" are with thee, thou hast appointed|strong="H6213" his bounds|strong="H2706" that he cannot pass|strong="H5674";
6 Turn|strong="H8159" from him, that he may rest|strong="H2308", till he shall accomplish|strong="H7521", as an hireling|strong="H7916", his day|strong="H3117".
7 For there is|strong="H3426" hope|strong="H8615" of a tree|strong="H6086", if it be cut down|strong="H3772", that it will sprout again|strong="H2498", and that the tender branch|strong="H3127" thereof will not cease|strong="H2308".
8 Though the root|strong="H8328" thereof wax old|strong="H2204" in the earth|strong="H0776", and the stock|strong="H1503" thereof die|strong="H4191" in the ground|strong="H6083";
9 Yet through the scent|strong="H7381" of water|strong="H4325" it will bud|strong="H6524", and bring forth|strong="H6213" boughs|strong="H7105" like a plant|strong="H5194".
10 But man|strong="H1397" dieth|strong="H4191", and wasteth away|strong="H2522": yea, man|strong="H0120" giveth up the ghost|strong="H1478", and where is he?
11 As the waters|strong="H4325" fail|strong="H0235" from the sea|strong="H3220", and the flood|strong="H5104" decayeth|strong="H2717" and drieth up|strong="H3001":
12 So man|strong="H0376" lieth down|strong="H7901", and riseth|strong="H6965" not: till the heavens|strong="H8064" be no more|strong="H1115", they shall not awake|strong="H6974", nor be raised out|strong="H5782" of their sleep|strong="H8142".
13 O that|strong="H5414" thou wouldest hide|strong="H6845" me in the grave|strong="H7585", that thou wouldest keep me secret|strong="H5641", until thy wrath|strong="H0639" be past|strong="H7725", that thou wouldest appoint|strong="H7896" me a set time|strong="H2706", and remember|strong="H2142" me!
14 If a man|strong="H1397" die|strong="H4191", shall he live|strong="H2421" again? all the days|strong="H3117" of my appointed time|strong="H6635" will I wait|strong="H3176", till my change|strong="H2487" come|strong="H0935".
15 Thou shalt call|strong="H7121", and I will answer|strong="H6030" thee: thou wilt have a desire|strong="H3700" to the work|strong="H4639" of thine hands|strong="H3027".
16 For now thou numberest|strong="H5608" my steps|strong="H6806": dost thou not watch|strong="H8104" over my sin|strong="H2403"?
17 My transgression|strong="H6588" is sealed up|strong="H2856" in a bag|strong="H6872", and thou sewest up|strong="H2950" mine iniquity|strong="H5771".
18 And surely|strong="H0199" the mountain|strong="H2022" falling|strong="H5307" cometh to nought|strong="H5034", and the rock|strong="H6697" is removed|strong="H6275" out of his place|strong="H4725".
19 The waters|strong="H4325" wear|strong="H7833" the stones|strong="H0068": thou washest away|strong="H7857" the things which grow|strong="H5599" out of the dust|strong="H6083" of the earth|strong="H0776"; and thou destroyest|strong="H0006" the hope|strong="H8615" of man|strong="H0582".
20 Thou prevailest|strong="H8630" for ever|strong="H5331" against him, and he passeth|strong="H1980": thou changest|strong="H8138" his countenance|strong="H6440", and sendest him away|strong="H7971".
21 His sons|strong="H1121" come to honour|strong="H3513", and he knoweth|strong="H3045" it not; and they are brought low|strong="H6819", but he perceiveth|strong="H0995" it not of them.
22 But his flesh|strong="H1320" upon him shall have pain|strong="H3510", and his soul|strong="H5315" within him shall mourn|strong="H0056".
