1 And Joseph|strong="H3130" fell|strong="H5307" upon his father’s|strong="H0001" face|strong="H6440", and wept|strong="H1058" upon him, and kissed|strong="H5401" him.
2 And Joseph|strong="H3130" commanded|strong="H6680" his servants|strong="H5650" the physicians|strong="H7495" to embalm|strong="H2590" his father|strong="H0001": and the physicians|strong="H7495" embalmed|strong="H2590" Israel|strong="H3478".
3 And forty|strong="H0705" days|strong="H3117" were fulfilled|strong="H4390" for him; for so are fulfilled|strong="H4390" the days|strong="H3117" of those which are embalmed|strong="H2590": and the Egyptians|strong="H4714" mourned|strong="H1058" for him threescore and ten|strong="H7657" days|strong="H3117".
4 And when the days|strong="H3117" of his mourning|strong="H1068" were past|strong="H5674", Joseph|strong="H3130" spake|strong="H1696" unto the house|strong="H1004" of Pharaoh|strong="H6547", saying|strong="H0559", If now I have found|strong="H4672" grace|strong="H2580" in your eyes|strong="H5869", speak|strong="H1696", I pray you, in the ears|strong="H0241" of Pharaoh|strong="H6547", saying|strong="H0559",
5 My father|strong="H0001" made me swear|strong="H7650", saying|strong="H0559", Lo|strong="H2009", I die|strong="H4191": in my grave|strong="H6913" which I have digged|strong="H3738" for me in the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", there shalt thou bury me|strong="H6912". Now therefore let me go up|strong="H5927", I pray thee, and bury|strong="H6912" my father|strong="H0001", and I will come again|strong="H7725".
6 And Pharaoh|strong="H6547" said|strong="H0559", Go up|strong="H5927", and bury|strong="H6912" thy father|strong="H0001", according as he made thee swear|strong="H7650".
7 And Joseph|strong="H3130" went up|strong="H5927" to bury|strong="H6912" his father|strong="H0001": and with him went up|strong="H5927" all the servants|strong="H5650" of Pharaoh|strong="H6547", the elders|strong="H2205" of his house|strong="H1004", and all the elders|strong="H2205" of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714",
8 And all the house|strong="H1004" of Joseph|strong="H3130", and his brethren|strong="H0251", and his father’s|strong="H0001" house|strong="H1004": only their little ones|strong="H2945", and their flocks|strong="H6629", and their herds|strong="H1241", they left|strong="H5800" in the land|strong="H0776" of Goshen|strong="H1657".
9 And there went up|strong="H5927" with him both chariots|strong="H7393" and horsemen|strong="H6571": and it was a very|strong="H3966" great|strong="H3515" company|strong="H4264".
10 And they came|strong="H0935" to the threshingfloor|strong="H1637" of Atad|strong="H0329", which is beyond|strong="H5676" Jordan|strong="H3383", and there they mourned|strong="H5594" with a great|strong="H1419" and very|strong="H3966" sore|strong="H3515" lamentation|strong="H4553": and he made|strong="H6213" a mourning|strong="H0060" for his father|strong="H0001" seven|strong="H7651" days|strong="H3117".
11 And when the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of the land|strong="H0776", the Canaanites|strong="H3669", saw|strong="H7200" the mourning|strong="H0060" in the floor|strong="H1637" of Atad|strong="H0329", they said|strong="H0559", This is a grievous|strong="H3515" mourning|strong="H0060" to the Egyptians|strong="H4714": wherefore the name of it|strong="H8034" was called|strong="H7121" Abel-mizraim|strong="H0067", which is beyond|strong="H5676" Jordan|strong="H3383".
12 And his sons|strong="H1121" did|strong="H6213" unto him according as he commanded|strong="H6680" them:
13 For his sons|strong="H1121" carried|strong="H5375" him into the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667", and buried|strong="H6912" him in the cave|strong="H4631" of the field|strong="H7704" of Machpelah|strong="H4375", which Abraham|strong="H0085" bought|strong="H7069" with the field|strong="H7704" for a possession|strong="H0272" of a buryingplace|strong="H6913" of Ephron|strong="H6085" the Hittite|strong="H2850", before|strong="H6440" Mamre|strong="H4471".
14 And Joseph|strong="H3130" returned|strong="H7725" into Egypt|strong="H4714", he, and his brethren|strong="H0251", and all that went up|strong="H5927" with him to bury|strong="H6912" his father|strong="H0001", after|strong="H0310" he had buried|strong="H6912" his father|strong="H0001".
15 And when Joseph’s|strong="H3130" brethren|strong="H0251" saw|strong="H7200" that their father|strong="H0001" was dead|strong="H4191", they said|strong="H0559", Joseph|strong="H3130" will peradventure|strong="H3863" hate us|strong="H7852", and will certainly|strong="H7725" requite|strong="H7725" us all the evil|strong="H7451" which we did|strong="H1580" unto him.
16 And they sent a messenger|strong="H6680" unto Joseph|strong="H3130", saying|strong="H0559", Thy father|strong="H0001" did command|strong="H6680" before|strong="H6440" he died|strong="H4194", saying|strong="H0559",
17 So shall ye say|strong="H0559" unto Joseph|strong="H3130", Forgive|strong="H5375", I pray thee|strong="H0577" now, the trespass|strong="H6588" of thy brethren|strong="H0251", and their sin|strong="H2403"; for they did|strong="H1580" unto thee evil|strong="H7451": and now, we pray thee, forgive|strong="H5375" the trespass|strong="H6588" of the servants|strong="H5650" of the God|strong="H0430" of thy father|strong="H0001". And Joseph|strong="H3130" wept|strong="H1058" when they spake|strong="H1696" unto him.
18 And his brethren|strong="H0251" also went|strong="H3212" and fell down|strong="H5307" before his face|strong="H6440"; and they said|strong="H0559", Behold, we be thy servants|strong="H5650".
19 And Joseph|strong="H3130" said|strong="H0559" unto them, Fear|strong="H3372" not: for am I in the place of God|strong="H0430"?
20 But as for you, ye thought|strong="H2803" evil|strong="H7451" against me; but God|strong="H0430" meant it|strong="H2803" unto good|strong="H2896", to|strong="H4616" bring to pass|strong="H6213", as it is this day|strong="H3117", to save|strong="H2421" much|strong="H7227" people|strong="H5971" alive|strong="H2421".
21 Now therefore fear|strong="H3372" ye not: I will nourish|strong="H3557" you, and your little ones|strong="H2945". And he comforted|strong="H5162" them, and spake|strong="H1696" kindly|strong="H3820" unto them.
22 And Joseph|strong="H3130" dwelt|strong="H3427" in Egypt|strong="H4714", he, and his father’s|strong="H0001" house|strong="H1004": and Joseph|strong="H3130" lived|strong="H2421" an hundred|strong="H3967" and ten|strong="H6235" years|strong="H8141".
23 And Joseph|strong="H3130" saw|strong="H7200" Ephraim’s|strong="H0669" children|strong="H1121" of the third|strong="H8029" generation: the children|strong="H1121" also of Machir|strong="H4353" the son|strong="H1121" of Manasseh|strong="H4519" were brought up|strong="H3205" upon Joseph’s|strong="H3130" knees|strong="H1290".
24 And Joseph|strong="H3130" said|strong="H0559" unto his brethren|strong="H0251", I die|strong="H4191": and God|strong="H0430" will surely|strong="H6485" visit|strong="H6485" you, and bring you out|strong="H5927" of this land|strong="H0776" unto the land|strong="H0776" which he sware|strong="H7650" to Abraham|strong="H0085", to Isaac|strong="H3327", and to Jacob|strong="H3290".
25 And Joseph|strong="H3130" took an oath|strong="H7650" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", saying|strong="H0559", God|strong="H0430" will surely|strong="H6485" visit|strong="H6485" you, and ye shall carry up|strong="H5927" my bones|strong="H6106" from hence|strong="H2088".
26 So Joseph|strong="H3130" died|strong="H4191", being an hundred|strong="H3967" and ten|strong="H6235" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121": and they embalmed|strong="H2590" him, and he was put|strong="H3455" in a coffin|strong="H0727" in Egypt|strong="H4714".
